They sold me a room package through a bunch of lies. They told me that I could pick any Hilton Hotel that I wanted. That was untrue. Told me that I could get a bigger room by just letting them know. That was also untrue. Told me that they would refund my money. Still don't have my deposit back. I called them a dozen times to get things straighented out, but I got the run around everytime. Will never book through Hilton again. Stay away from this place.

This resort is incredible! We stayed 3 nights in June and it was pure perfection. I can’t believe any of these reviews that had complaints. We loved every second. The people that work here are lovely, friendly and so kind. Is there a long walk from one end to the other? Yea. So what! Get your steps in and enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian air. Walk along the museum hallway and see the wonderful art work. Or walk along the beach pathway which is incredible views throughout. Or take a tram or boat. No matter what it’s awesome. The food was great too. Every spot we ate at here was delicious. The coffee spots are perfect for take away breakfast like açaí bowls and pastries and yummy coffee. You can grab wraps or poke bowls or pizza at the market by the pool for lunch. And ice cream for snacks for the kids (and adults!) Dinner options were great too, Italian spot was so fast and easy. The lagoon grill had burgers and you sit right next to the dolphins. The pools, wow! Huge! Slides, plenty of seating, jacuzzis, a little grotto area. Pools on both sides of the property. They have cultural classes each morning at the cultural center which are included. The lagoon, omg! Sea turtles swim right by you as you stand on the sandy shore. Tons of fish. I recommend to bring your own snorkels from home! You could rent kayaks and little boats or SUPs. I watched a yoga sup class that looked awesome! Lastly, the dolphin encounter was amazing. It was expensive but worth every penny. Most incredible time! It was me and my 2 boys and we were in heaven. Super nice people that run it. Our room was fine. Comfortable bed, ocean view, mini fridge. All that we needed. Again anyone that complains needs to take a chill pill and enjoy this amazing property. It’s not cheap, but that’s what you pay for. Splurge, it’s worth it!

We visited the Hilton Waikoloa Village, a couple of times, back around 20 years ago. They say, you can never go back, and it appears to be true. We booked six nights at the Ocean Tower. We checked into room 4053. We were on the fourth floor above a construction site. Guys appeared to be running large water pipes in trenches. When I complained I was told that there were no other rooms available, but they did credit me the $45/day resort charge. Ok, so our ocean view room is actually a construction view room with a sliver of ocean in the distance. The room itself is dated, but it did the job. There was no glassware in the room. The deck furniture was dirty, but, hey, we weren’t going to be using the deck anyway were we? The covered art walk is a nice stroll from the lobby to the Ocean Tower. It takes about 10 minutes to walk. The walk is a nice respite from the heat and the artwork is beautiful. The tram or boat between towers are slower, but less effort. WiFi is spotty and cellular coverage terrible. The best WiFi in the resort is at the lower lobby. The adult pool, located in the Ocean Tower, is kind of sad. 20 loungers, one small table and no umbrellas. There is no food or drink service at the adult pool. A small snack bar is a 10 minute walk around the Ocean Tower to the kids pool. The kids pool is similar. Few small tables and no umbrellas. The pool furniture is old and in need of repair. Upon check in, in addition to our room key, we were given a blue credit card sized access key. The key gets you access to the guest laundry, and to the pool towel locker. Make sure to return your pool towels otherwise you may end up with a $20 per towel charge at check out. The number of restaurants is now down to two. The Kamuela Provision Company (KPC), the resort’s primo restaurant, or, Nui the Italian place. Other dining options were a couple of pool bars, a fast food place and two coffee shops that close around noon. There is a Kona beer pub that opens at 4:30pm, but it serves only snacks. By the way, Nui won’t admit you if you don’t have a reservation, so plan ahead. We talked to a couple whose kids called the hotel and wanted a bottle of bubbly delivered to their parents room as a surprise. The kids were told it wasn’t possible since there was no room service. We did eat at KPC and we had an excellent meal. Our expectations weren’t high to be honest, but the meal was perfect and we were seated next to the ocean. On the way there and back we rode in the boat. It was a great trip, faster than the tran, and the ride back at night was the perfect end to a perfect dinner. There are two resort stores that sell the usual souvenirs, fridge magnets, t-shirts and sweatshirts, etc. They also sell snacks, water, soft drinks, beer and wine. To say the places are pricey is an understatement. Two bottles of water and two four ounce cartons of milk? $35. We purchased a bottle of Josh Pinot Noir. $45. Around the main pool area there used to be a huge waterfall that covered a massive wall of rock. The waterfall is no longer there. The staff told me that during Covid there were inspections that revealed rust in some ibeams. The waterfalls were turned off. Thankfully, the Kings and Queens Shops are a mile or so away from the resort. A free shuttle runs between the shops and the resort regularly from Noon until 9pm. There are reasonably priced shops and good restaurants at both locations. Oh, Josh Pinot Noir? $22 at the Gourmet Market at the Queen’s Shops. The Queens shops is newer and seemed livelier than the King’s Shops. If you want to do some reasonable food and drink shopping, the Gourmet Market at the Queens shops is excellent. They also do a mean pulled pork sandwich and fries for $12 and it was big enough for two to share. There used to be a bar in the Ocean Tower at the end of the tram line. This has been shut down. It’s a shame. It was a nice place to hang out with a beer in the shade. The lack of bars and open areas to meet people is a real drawback to the detriment of the resort. The final piece that showed how the Hilton Waikoloa had fallen was the torch lighting ceremony that is a feature of all of the resorts we have visited in Hawaii. We enjoyed that a person wearing traditional gear ran from torch to torch and finally blew a conch shell at the last torch. At the Hilton, this is two guys riding the truck used to collect beach towels who ride from torch to torch with a gas lighter. What a let down. We didn’t try to rent a lounger or cabana around the lagoon. I shudder to think about how much those might have cost. (Note: we didn’t rent a car. The $48/day self parking charge was more than I could stand on top of the car rental cost. Getting around via Uber was tough. There were times when Uber were unable to find us a driver for a short trip up or down the coast. We used taxis and although the taxi cost was higher than Uber, it wasn’t excessively so.) It’s still a beautiful resort and all of the employees we met were welcoming, gracious and eager to help. Sunset is awesome from Buddha Point. The room was serviced every day and apart from the deck furniture it was spotless. I struggle with if the tired look of the resort, the loss of facilities, the lack of care and upkeep of the place is the aftermath of Covid, shortage of staff or corporate greed. Either way, the resort is pretty much the cheapest large resort on the Kohala coast and it shows.

Starting off I cut my vacation short, paid the premium to fly home early just to get away from this property. In 3 days we changed rooms 5 times. We were in rooms that were outdated, bug infested and filthy. Night 1 checked in and the room was super musky and the room was filthy. Mold in the bathroom, dirt where the carpet and the tile met, rusted facets, broken furniture. they "upgraded" us to a One bedroom when I showed them a room was available on-line. That night a woman approached us to let us know she had been there 3 days and kept getting promised they were getting moved because where she was staying the room was near the construction. Day 2 we were out and was moved to a bug infested room. There were bugs in the fridge, running across the desk when working and my favorite is the one hubby found on the bed while i was sleeping. We used the luggage racks and hung our luggage that night in our room. We could not move as that was the "Only" room available in ocean tower. Day 3 we were getting moved to our "final" room which they "upgraded" us to a 2 bedroom (there were only 2 of us) since that is the only room they have available for the remainder of our stay. First room we walked into we saw a "roach" immediately under the kitchen sink. Hubby left the room to go to the front desk. As I walked around it was apparent housekeeping must spend less than 10 minutes in each room. The oven was filthy, the fridge had build-up, Door ways dust was inches thick, furniture had filth build up and this was one of their " nicer" rooms. We were finally moved to our last room for the remaining 2 days, as I cancelled our remaining reservation with this site and flew home. where we left our luggage in the garage, immediately unpacked our bags and started Laundry. Nothing came into the house without being disinfected first. It was a Horrible experience. In 6 days we met 8 other folks with similar issues and some never received resolution. As a Hilton Diamond member I learned a few things about this trip. I am very disappointed in the Hilton brand. The fact I had to keep being reminded that I was being upgraded every time I talked to someone was a bit excessive. I stay at Hilton products for an average of 78% of the year with travel. And have never been reminded that I was being upgraded. I would have been happy to pay for the 2 bedroom, if it was needed, and even the 1 bedroom, but figured the studio was sufficient enough for a couple. I didn't need the upgrades. I just wanted a room that was clean, bug free and what I would expect to receive while I was on vacation from the Hilton Brand. Another thing I learned is Hilton Hotel and Hilton Vacation are 2 different entities under the Hilton umbrella. Hilton Vacations has no power to move you to a Hilton Hotel, even on the same site. If you book with Hilton Vacations the Hilton hotel cannot view your reservation. So there is a significant disconnect that unfortunately the guest gets engaged in. The overall site is beautiful and it is a good walk from parking to the ocean tower so be ready for that, but the walk is amazing through a Japanese Art Exhibit. Personally I am in the process of using my Hilton Points that I have acquired over the years on my friends to visit me while on travel, Paid off my Hilton AMEX and waiting for my Marriott one to come in the mail before I cancel Hilton. I am sad to break the relationship with Hilton after all these years and staying at 100's of sites but this trip was my first trip using Hilton as a Vacation Destination and I am deflated in how they were treating people and how we were treated, that this was the last straw. Good Luck in your travels and hope if you do choose this location you have a back -up plan.

Do not waste your vacation here. The staff is incompetent. We stayed here three weeks, but never again. Strange how the hotel industry used the pandemic to eliminate daily housekeeping... shouldn't they clean more? The place is just an inconvenient ripoff. Our stay was so very uncomfortable from all the construction going on. Workers were literally using a jack hammer in the room above us, we asked to move and they sent us to another room with a worse view and MORE CONSTRUCTION! All the construction workers had hearing protection, but the guests... I guess OSHA just protects workers and not cash paying hotel customers. It's not safe. I mentioned this to a staffer and the response was, "housekeeping probably has earplugs, if you request them"... OMG! Like we're gonna hang out in our over-priced beach resort wearing earplugs! Should we provide our own hard-hats or does housekeeping provide those as well? This is what vacationing at the Hilton Ocean Tower is like. The other bad reviews (and there are a lot of them) talk a lot about the inconvenient distance to the main main lobby and parking, and the price gouging... they are correct! There is zero service here, Hilton just wants you to go to your loud room and shut-up until check-out... except when they are trying to sell you a time-share here. This would be the last place on Earth I'd buy into. The difference between here and the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki is night and day. The Big Island is great, but this property sucks.

The property is a Hilton Vacation Club with renovated rooms, condos and very dated rooms. We requested a renovated room before our arrival. We’re on a special time share package, not Hilton. It’s a little complicated. Upon checkin we were told all the renovated room are booked. They have rooms from the 1980’s , 1990’s and new rooms. in a 1980’s room. The furniture is old and worn, carpets stained, bathroom door has cracks, the bed is sagging and very old. Yes , it’s like a roadside motel not what you expect from a Hilton in Hawaii. The property itself is massive but lovely. There is a tram and boats to take you around the property. My best advice is that if you are not a Hilton vacation club owner go elsewhere.

In addition the steep charges ($400-$800 per night) for a very basic room, this hotel will hit you with hundreds of dollars of “extras”: self-parking for $48 per night, the resort fee of $40 per night, the buffet breakfast charge of $55 per person per day (plus tip), and extra charges for just about everything else – including a lounge chair by the water. What does the “resort fee” get you? A swimming that is icy cold, so nobody uses it. And to top it off, the fitness center in the Ocean Tower cannot be used by guests staying in the Ocean Tower – guests have to travel four tram stops (12 minutes each way) on an extremely slow tram to use a fitness center in another tower. If you stay here, be prepared for a lot of walking or waiting for the tram. The hotel is a sprawling complex of three main towers, spread out over an area about the size of Disneyland. Getting from the self-parking lot ($48 per night) to the Ocean Tower takes over 20 minutes of walking and waiting/riding the tram. In response to previous reviews complaining about the predatory pricing, management lamely responds “We post our prices”. Nowhere did we see a posting of the $55 per person charge for the buffet breakfast. Many other Hiltons have similar breakfasts for about half the price. Rooms are very basic, nothing special. The fitness center (once you get to it) is sterile and also basic, with no windows. Food options beyond breakfast are also extremely expensive ($4 for an apple at the coffee stand. Your best option for food is to walk or drive about a mile to the nearby shops, which include a nice grocery store. There were some positives, hence my rating of two stars instead of one: Some of the staff (especially the native Hawaiians) were friendly and helpful, and the hotel does have nice weather. Overall, however, the price gouging ruins this hotel. I realize that Hawaii relies on dollars from tourism, but this place is ridiculous. I have stayed in many Hiltons and have never given one such a low rating. This hotel gives Hilton a bad name, and it reflects poorly on Hawaii.

Aloha and thank you for your review. We appreciate your kind remarks regarding your interactions with some of our team members. We apologize for the challenges you encountered during your visit with us. We have shared your comments regarding the breakfast buffet pricing with the Food & Beverage leadership team at Hilton Waikoloa for their review. The resort fee the guests in our tower pay for covers WiFi; hula, lei making & ukulele lesson; unlimited PS3 movies/games; 20% off Lagoon toy rental; 4x8 keepsake photo; kid pool activities/scavenger hunt; daily fitness/yoga class. We apologize if this was not explained to you upon check-in. We will use your feedback in a positive, proactive manner moving forward. The next time you are traveling to Waikoloa, we hope you will give us an opportunity to provide an improved overall stay.

Beautiful hotel/timeshare property. The grounds are amazing. But it is massive!!! Have walking shoes and be ready to get your 10k steps in. They have a tram and a boat if your willing to wait and go slow, because they are really slow moving but when your in vacation it’s not that big of a deal. We stayed in the ocean tower, with updated rooms and an ocean view. Our room had a balcony, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and toilet had a bidet. Sunset was amazing and you might be able to see whales from some of the look out points. There are several pools, including an adult pool and pools with slides and a makeshift beach on the property. There are several activities like a dolphin show 3 times during the week that are free.

This was a FABULOUS resort! While I was a bit hesitant to book, based on other individuals (very vocal) experiences, we were so pleased we did. We absolutely loved everything about this resort and would definitely recommend it! There are a few factors that you should consider, prior to booking, to make sure this is right for you. Customer Service: We arrived at the hotel after 23 hours of travel. For the first night, we used valet parking. Our first interaction with employees was fantastic. The employees took our car and reviewed our reservations to ensure we arrived at the correct check in location (Ocean Tower's check in is located inside that hotel). We were offered assistance with our luggage (which we declined). The whole process took under five minutes. Our next step was our hotel! Tram: Since we had our luggage with us, we opted to use the tram. Both the tram and boats were fully operational during our entire stay. The tram was air conditioned and arrives at the various stops every few minutes (there are two trams running). We had plans to use the boat, but did not end up finding time (there’s so much to do in Hawaii!) Check-in: When we arrived at our hotel, we found the check in process to be quick and easy. There were two employees working the desk, and we had no wait. They were very friendly, providing us with local updates to the region, and answering our questions. We did interact with the front desk a couple of times (e.g. picking up our parking pass, checkout), and all our interactions were with kind employees who were happy to assist. Room: One of my biggest fears was to get a non-remodeled room. Based on the reviews, I feared the worse if the room wasn’t remodeled – something out of the 1980s. When we entered our room, we found our room had not received an update yet. However, it was VERY nice (and not from the 1980s). The bed was comfortable, the space is large, our ocean view balcony was a favorite! I did not find the décor to be outdated. The room was very clean. The hotel room has a coffee maker, refrigerator, but no microwave. We purchased oatmeal, yogurt, sandwich meat, fresh fruits, and other snacks from the grocery store to offset the purchased meals. There is ice available on various floors if you are taking food out with you on an adventure (we brought a small lunch pail with us). Landscaping: The landscaping is gorgeous! We really appreciated the details to design and the devotion of the staff to keep everything pristine. Walking: Yes, walking is as everyone reports – easily 15 minutes from one side of the resort to the other. And yes, you can walk as fast as the tram. BUT, you are in Hawaii! The resort is GORGEOUS! Enjoy the sunshine, take your time, you won’t be here for long. Walking was one of my favorite parts of this resort. Resort Fee: There is a daily resort fee. Depending how you booked, this may or may not be included with your booking. This is a normal fee for hotels in Hawaii. After we saw how beautiful the property is and the amount of upkeep, we didn’t mind paying the daily fee. Parking Fee: There is a daily parking fee. Again, this fee is normal for hotels in Hawaii. At the time of this writing, it was $48 per night. We booked our vehicle through Costco, saving money, which helped to offset our rental budget. Valet parking was $55/night. Restaurants: The coffee is amazing! One of the better spots on the island to enjoy a cup of Kona coffee. It’s $6.00 for a large cup. It’s Kona coffee (which retails at $70/lb). I enjoyed my daily cup! We ate only one meal on site (cheeseburger, approximately $25). We also attended the luau on site and greatly enjoyed that experience as well. Pools/Lagoon: The pools were clean and all except one water slide was operational. There were a few hot tubs, none located near this hotel. We snorkeled in the lagoon several times. There’s a variety of fish and sea turtles. We brought our snorkeling gear with us (ordered from Amazon) and rented flippers from a local place. The Hilton does have these items available for rent but I did not review the prices. Several water activities are also available (kayaks, paddleboards, etc). There is a rental fee. It varied on what you rented and by the hour. If you are looking for the resort experience, I highly recommend you spend your time here! You can't beat the view from an ocean front balcony, the weather, the landscaping, and amazing staff.

Cancellation policy is terrible. We could not ahold of the property to cancel our stay. Spent almost 2 hours being passed around without assistance. Now I am unable to cancel and will be charge a no show fee. Not looking for a refund but at least should be given a credit for future travel.
