This is our second stay at the Marriott. It is not an overwhelming large resort so you don't feel like a number or get lost trying to find something. The location is just beautiful. The royal fish ponds are at the property and it is...More
I just loved this hotel for so many reasons... firstly the hotel is very pretty. The grounds have several pools with bridges and sitting/sunning areas. Flora and Fauna are spectacular The beds are heavenly - comfy. The prize is that it sits right on A-BAY......More
We spend nine days at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott, it is about 30 minutes from Kona and about 20 minutes from the airport so it is a little isolated but that was one of the reasons we loved the place. No crowds and no highway...More
I am very happy I stayed in Waikoloa and not Kona. Kona was very crowded and there was vog. Waikoloa area had better beaches with more sun as well. As mentioned in other reviews, Kings and Queens shops were just a couple minutes away (walking)...More
Used points for stay and was disappointed with room that they said was an upgrade. Yes it did have a pool view but the balcony was directly over a staircase that led to pool and restaurant area so it had a bit of traffic. Room...More

The beach is just ok. The sand is grey and does not have the nice white look. It is not well taken care of since it does not belong to the Marriott. I took a friend swimming there in March and he cut his hand on the rocks that are very close to shore. If you have kids be very careful. BUT, a five minute drive will take you to some fantastic beaches. There are many along the Kohala Coast. One that is outstanding it the beach at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Which is about 15 minutes up the coast. And the hotel is a Marriott property.
