Paniolo Greens is celebrated by guests for its tranquil location, offering scenic beauty and convenient access to island attractions, despite not being directly on the beach. The resort's well-maintained atmosphere and exceptionally clean accommodations with cozy beds are a highlight for many travelers. While the rooms boast ample space and useful amenities like full kitchens, some visitors suggest that the decor and furnishings could benefit from modernization. The service stands out as friendly and responsive, adding to the resort's overall good value, even though there may be extra charges for certain amenities.

This is a Shell vacations complex that Wyndham recently purchased. The two bedroom unit was comfortable, good beds, table and 4 chairs on main balcony, Juliette balconies for the 2 upstairs bedrooms. En-suite bathroom has a tub/shower, the 2nd bath has a shower. The master bedroom is large with a king bed, the 2nd bedroom is small with a queen bed. There is a safe. The kitchen cupboards are dated, but functional, knives were sharp, and a week’s supply of cone coffee filters and dishwasher soap (appreciated as so many vacation clubs only supply 2 days), tiny salt and pepper shakers (no herbs that are supplied by Wyndham at other resorts where we have stayed). The pool area and amenities are functional and the location is ideal for exploring the Big Island. The staff were pleasant. The resort backs onto a golf course, there’s a grocery store and a small village on the other side of the golf course, a 15 minute walk uphill. You definitely need a car. There’s a Costco in Kona, near the airport. We drove to the Volcano National Park with lots of stops along the way, left at 8:30, back to the resort at 4:00. The northwest coast is best for whale watching, but very few spots where you can get down to the water. We saw spouts from the highway. I would definitely stay at Paniolo Greens again.

Each room has its own washroom and its own balcony, which is so convenient. Kids love the swimming pool. Staff are very helpful. The location is convenient too. We saw wild dolphins, turtles and whales; learned a lot of knowledge about volcanos; Both adults and kids had great time there.

Friendly staff and ease of check in made our vacation start off on a great note. Size of unit was like renting a small apartment with all the amenities. Kitchen was well stocked with all utensils plus small and large appliances. Washer and dryer in the unit made it easy to wash our clothes after visiting the beach. This is our third stay at Paniolo Greens and would definitely return. Units are family friendly so bring the kids!

We had wonderful tradewind breezes our entire stay. No air conditioning was needed, which we found out upon arrival was an additional charge of $8/day. The staff were pleasant. We stayed on the ground floor of the unit and had many visitors, including wild turkeys, Nene and other wildlife. We had a nice view of the 4th hole. The apartment was well furnished with kitchen supplies and towels. The only downside about being on the ground floor was that the folks above us were heavy walkers and tended to rearrange chairs. Other than that we had a nice relaxing vacation. This location is about a 10 minute drive to the beach but very quiet in the evening. Would stay again.

If you prefer a more relaxing atmosphere away from the tourist vibe, this is the place. Prices vary wildly from time to time, so we only stay here when it's more affordable. Comfortable fully furnished condos with equipped kitchens and small stacked washer-dryer makes it a great "stay-cation" for kama'aina.

This property was in a good central location to all the areas we wanted to visit on the island. About 45 minutes to Kona, but only 15-20 minutes to nearby beaches and the Waikoloa Resort area which had many restaurants to choose from. There's a KTA grocery store about a 10 minute walk up the hill. A/C was $8/night but we didn't end up needing it as it cools off a lot in the evenings. The resort also had beach rentals such as boogie boards and snorkels which was a nice perk! Overall a good property. We stayed in a 2 bedroom on the top floor and enjoyed 3 balconies, one for each room and one for the living room. Great sunset views and lots of wild turkeys running around also! Next time would probably chose to stay in a property near the beach but this was a great place to stay for our first trip to the big island!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Paniolo Greens. Our unit had beautiful golf course views from the lanai, and nice cool breezes from the patios in all bedrooms so we never needed air conditioning. The location was excellent for spending time on the beautiful white sand beaches with several less than 20 min drive away. There was a grocery store close by for all our needs. We were able to travel across to the Hilo region to see the rainforest area and north to the cliffs. We rented boogie boards and sand toys from the resort at reasonable prices. Travelling with a baby we really wished they had high chairs available. The couch could use a mattress topper - not the best for an adult. The pool area was quiet - we never had trouble getting loungers- which was surprising with only one pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return to see the areas of the island that we missed.

This resort is located in a windy area of the island. The sliding glass doors whistle every night as the wind blows. It is an older resort, I imagine built in the 80's and needs to have some updates done. Specifically to the sliding doors. Also, bath rooms are small and shower heads are low. No soaking in a nice tub after a day of hiking or swimming. Pool was open during COVID if you wanted to plan your entire day around going to the sub-par pool area.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Interior was spacious and clean. The grounds around the property was very well kept and lit up well at night for evening strolls. There was a large pool, hot tub, BBQ area, lawn chess (and checkers), tennis courts small workout area and basketball hoop.

This was the first of a 3 week stay at Paniolo Greens. The check-in went smoothly and the resort information was thorough. There were COVID protocols used this week at the resort but these had little impact on the quality of our stay. We had a ground floor unit that faced the golf course with a short wooded area in between that housed quite a few birds. The unit was clean and it looked like there was new furniture in the living room, dining room and lanai. The mattress was firm and comfortable. I have to say that the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This includes the grounds workers who answered questions, the staff who delivered towels and supplies to our room and the front desk staff. They were all exceptional! One of the reasons that we love this resort is that it is in the town of Waikoloa which is a 6 - 7 minute drive away from the traffic and noise of the resorts that are close to the ocean along the Kohala Coast. We can get to the beaches and shopping in those areas with a 10 to 15 minute drive and the stay is much quieter.

Aloha, the "den" bedroom has a twin bed, as well as a 3rd bathroom associated with it. The air conditioning is optional for the unit, and available for a fee. Also, all of the "den" units enter on the 2nd floor and have a townhome/split level layout. Mahalo, Paniolo Greens Management.

As far as I know, kids can go in both pools. There is no life guard on duty, so it would be the parents responsibility to watch them. Shopping, restaurants and beach access are just down the hill in Waikola Village, maybe a 10 minute drive.
Answer from Cruiser818868
Aloha! There are two ways to travel to Volcano National Park from Waikoloa Village. The quickest route is to go over Saddle Mountain Road and through Hilo, which is 88 miles. Approximate travel time one way by car is about 1 hour 45 minutes. I hope this helps, and look forward to your visit!
