That was the note from Diana Mahi that greeted us upon our arrival. As you look through the visitor’s diary, it quickly becomes obvious that we are not the only ones that have repeatedly returned to this little cottage year after year. Throughout the years, the key words have consistently been: quiet, clean, relaxing, authentic, private, rustic, charming and simple....

This is our third visit to Mahinani's and the only place we wish to stay on Kauai. If you want a true Hawaiian vacation there is no place better. How glad we are to have a safe, friendly and familiar place to return to - it may not be for everyone since it is off the beaten path and no...

This place was amazing! From the front view you can see the ocean through the palm trees, behind the cottage was a scenic view of the mountains, and there was beautiful flowers and trees surrounding the cottage. There's no traffic or people around, just roosters(who get up around 4 a.m.!) but we got used to them. And the owners dog,...

This is our fourth three-week stay. Don, Diana and the dog Sissy welcomed us back to what we now regard as "our" Kaua`i home. As stated in other reviews, this is a very simple cottage located in a remote residential/agricultural part of the home lands far away from tourists or resorts. Since the cottage is fully equipped with everything you...

We are not fancy people and our needs are not complicated. This sweet and delightful cottage fit the bill perfectly. It's a little rustic, very bohemian, so do not expect perfection. Really. But everything you need is here, and you can completely relax here. The grounds are lovely -- you're in a residential neighborhood, so you get to feel a...

When it comes to taking a 3 day vacation, my wife and I love to go to someplace that isn’t bombarded by the sound of people and the road. Since it’s only a 3 day weekend, we didn’t want to pay ourselves out of the island, besides the plane ride would have taken our joy of relaxing. So we talked...

We have just completed our third three-week stay in the simple one bedroom small cottage at Mahinani’s Farm in Anahola along Kamalomaloo Place on the beautiful Garden Island of Kaua`i. Don and Diana Mahi have once again shared with us their little corner of paradise. As before, we loaded up with groceries at Costco the first day so we were...

You could spend your Kauai vacation in a small condo facing a parking lot squeezed between the beach and the highway. Or, for the same money, you could choose Mahinani's and have much more space and privacy with ocean and garden views, far from the hustle and bustle. We stayed at the Cottage for 11 nights. It's spacious, but rustic,...

My husband and I celebrated my 40th birthday on Kauai in October. We stayed in the two-bedroom house because the one bedroom was unavailable, and Diana was so kind as to rent it to us at the one bedroom price. When I saw the picture of the house, I could hardly believe it was real, and standing in front of...

Chose Mahanini's Farm from VRBO and were pleasantly surprised as we had no way of knowing what we were getting. We wanted peace and comfort and it delivered. You have to realize this is "Old Hawaii", lots of acres of farm situated in the middle of mostly native Hawaiian neighborhood. If you don't know Kauai, understand that chickens are part...

“This is not a fancy place!!! It is an honest place that sweetly reflects the rustic nature of Kauai (to the degree our hearts can understand it as tourists).”

“-If you are renting out the bottom house, the bungalow is a nice addition to the house. Check it out if you like, a good relaxing place for couples.”
