Hana is to Kihei as New York state is to Alabama. We loved seeing the "real" Hawaii. Although it was comfortable as far as the sheets, towels and furniture were concerned, the house needs some TLC. Handles were missing from the bedroom louvered glass windows, screens had holes. I must say during the night the wind and rain were not... More

First of all we want to say thank you for staying at our property. Our upstairs unit (Hale Waikoloa 3) has recently gone through a number of major upgrades. The carpet was replaced by new vinyl flooring that looks just like hardwood. The bathroom has been upgraded with tile flooring, a new sink and counter, and a new toilet –... More

We are here now for 2 nights in the studio. The location is the best, but if I did it again I would pay the difference to be in one of the front units, as the studio is really just a place with a bed and the basics, built in the back(garage), so you have no views from this room.... More

The studio (Hale Waikoloa 1) went through a major renovation in April 2012. A new queen size mattress has been installed. The carpet has been replaced with new tile throughout the entire unit. The shower stall has been replaced with all new tile, new shower floor, and new shower hardware. The toilet is new. The entire studio has been repainted.... More

We've rented here twice and love it. It is on the bay and the views are simply spectacular. We live in Hawaii and when we choose a Hawaii accommodation, we have pretty high standards for paradise: unobstructed views, no other sounds but the ocean. Yes, it is a simple place; its on the ocean! It will feel a bit salty.... More

This is our 2nd trip to Hana, the first with Hana Maui Travel. Duke arranged our stay in the 2 bedroom portion of this historic home. The beach was so close that the waves lulled us to sleep on a night that we all expected to be awake from our excitement. The place is well laid out and has a... More

James Michener once wrote that Homoa Beach, just south of Hana, was the quintessential South Pacific beach, with great views of the Big Island, and white sand beach. That same charm can be found at Hale Waikoloa house. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean. Great views. Right on Hana Bay. We booked through Hana Maui Travel Co. Received the... More

Beautiful sunsets! We stayed in the studio (in the rear of the house) . Very lucky no one was in the front of the house, so we were able to sit out on the porch and watch the sunsets. Stayed 2 nights. Alittle bit older, and in need of some repair, but it has everything you need for 2 people.... More

We stayed in the small unit, Hale Waikoloa Elua, Hana. It was just OK for two days stay and doesn’t compare to other accommodation we experienced at the same pricepoint on this trip to Hawaii. While clean, it is tired, worn and poorly maintained (simple things like the freezer in the fridge being totally clogged & desperately in need of... More

First let us start by saying that Duke the administrator of the property is a great guy, friendly and helpful. That being said, the lower floor 2 bedroom family rental is a bit run down. We stayed here 5 years ago (2005) and loved it, so obviously we were content enough to rebook since we love Hana, and this location... More

We spent two nights in the smallest apartment, Hale Waikoloa Elua, a studio off the garage. It is within walking distance of a pretty black pebble and sand beach, and very close to Hana. The studio is very cozy (there's no door for the toilet!), one bigger room with the bed and kitchen, and a smaller area with sink and... More

We stayed at the smallest of the three units: "Hale Waikoloa Elua" - real cozy! I had booked via Duke at Hana Maui Travel (www.hanamauitravel.com), he was very helpful and friendly. The house is beautiful and has access to a cool, pebbly beach. Hana is a very cute little town and it's worth staying there for a couple of nights.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Waikoloa is a pebble beach on the north side of Hāna Bay at the mouth of Kawaipapa stream - on the eastern shore of the island of Maui. There is a surf site located where the stream meets the ocean. This beautiful beach is located right outside your door as Hale Waikoloa is beachfront property. Hale Waikoloa means “house at Waikoloa.”Your private path to the beach means you are only a few steps away from lazy walks along the ocean. This is the ideal location to get away from the hectic pace of city life. Spectacular sunrises, a stunning moon, cool ocean breezes and the sound of the ocean greet you every day. A typical night here means falling asleep hearing the ocean waves on the shoreline, smelling the ocean breeze and hearing the wind in the trees with a gentle evening rainfall. A true tropical escape! ... more   less
