Unit 403 has a lovely view + an extra shared lanai which no one else used. But the until itself was worn and dirty. The host tried to blame it on older fixtures and said a remodel was coming: the bathroom rug was spotted, the shower curtain was dirty as was the shower floor. The kitchen silverware drawer was filthy. The curtains were dirty and stained and didn't pull closed to provide complete privacy. A "Superhost" would make sure his units are sparking clean. When host was contacted, he said he would address all these things to benefit future travelers. He became rude and basically hung up on me when I said that wouldn't help us. (Long story!)

We stayed in room 302 at the Punahoa for two weeks, and plan to return again. We’ve stayed there before, and it feels like home now. My cousin and his wife grew up on the islands and live in Wailuku. They enjoy coming over to have dinner with us on the lanai and watch the sunset. They remark that we're staying at one of the best locations around, with great beaches, a beautiful view, and everything we need within walking distance. Our normal routine is to have coffee and breakfast on the lanai, then head to Charley Young beach for our morning beach walk. We’ve learned to spot turtles eating seaweed on the rocks near the shore. Often all you see is a flipper or a head, but polarized sunglasses help cut through the glare so you can see them underwater. Later we see them tucked under the rocks in front of the apartment when snorkelling. We prefer to snorkel in the morning, and maybe go for a late afternoon dip to relax by "float-walking" neck deep in the waves. A breeze usually develops in the afternoon, which helps cool things off, but reduces visibility. The sound of the surf helps put me to sleep, and I awaken refreshed and ready to go again. It’s fun to explore other beaches, but we’ve found that the ones nearby are just as nice if not better than the ones we’ve driven to. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, but we usually cook or pick something up and eat it on our lanai. It has the “best view in town”. That's why we keep coming back!

My husband and I spent time in February at this quiet boutique condo building off the beaten track in Kihei. We stayed in #302 and had the time of our lives on our private lanai watching the whales breech and the dolphins frolic. We have stayed in other units in the building but the view from the 3rd floor was very nice. The condo was nicely updated and it was perfect for us. Beach chairs and umbrella along with a small cooler were provided for our daily walks to the nearby beaches . When we were not on the beach we spent time on our lanai and toasted every sunset with a glass of wine. We can't wait to go back again!

My husband and I spent 6 nights in studio #204 and we had a fantastic time. We especially enjoyed the ocean front view... literally steps from the beach. We watched the sunset every evening from our personal lanai and the views were spectacular! There was also a kitchen (stove top, full refrigerator, dishwasher, plates, pots & pans, utensils all provided) and parking was complementary. This is a beautiful part of the island to explore, the beaches were world-class and we loved having beach towels, umbrella, beach chairs, and cooler available to hang out and absorb the rays. Also, there are grocery stores, happy hour, and other restaurants within walking distance. Both walking into town and driving were all very easy. Reception was also very helpful and check-in/check-out were hassle-free. We also loved the snacks they provided during check-in. Overall, a wonderful experience!

This small condo complex on the ocean is a hidden gem in Kihei, thanks to its proactive manager, Zaldy. Located in probably the best site in all of Kihei, the building is under going exterior renovations which should be completed in the summer of 2018. Our penthouse unit offered incredible views and was well equipped despite a few flaws and quirks. The building is old and the units can stand some improvements given the potential for a 5 star rating. What stands out is the location and its manager--both can't be topped! We definitely hope to return someday. Perhaps next time a five star upgrade in our review!
