My wife and I have used Trip Advisor many times to help us with hotel recommendations, but when it comes to Maui the search can be long and frustrating. We can find 10 suitable hotels in Paris within the hour, but for Maui, the search took days. There seems to be about three kinds of Maui accomodations: Pricey modern resorts,...

We stayed here for almost a week (Jan. 27 - to beg. of Feb.) this year (2007), and we enjoyed the room, the ameneties, the proximity to the beach (even though we were away doing many activities during the day on Maui). We had fun cooking in her charming kitchen, with a little bar and a view of the living...

Our family, consisting of 5 adults and 2 children just returned from spending a week at the Sugar Beach Inn. We were greeted upon arrival by the hostess, Tracy, who showed us to our rooms and gave us a quick tour of the facilities. We were shown how to use the air conditioning, and were asked if the temperature was...

August 28, 2006 We (two families, nine adults and 2 kids) recently returned from a much anticipated 10 day stay at this property. The excitement dims quickly when after 13 hours of travel the owner shuffles you into her hut to make sure full payment in advance is taken care of right away. She then escorts you to your unit,...

It's not possible to allow a group of 11+ people including children to occupy a 4 bedroom suite without basic courtesy rules. Removing your shoes before entering a home is a basic hawaiian courtesy practiced at every home on Maui I have ever visited, especially when there are 11+ people walking in and out of this home that is 80%...

The Freeman's are wonderful people, who exhibit the true Aloha of Maui. I stayed in a very nice upstairs one bedroom apartment with a kitchen that had everything I needed. The beach was just down a short sandy path. In comparison, you get more for your buck here, if you like to sleep in the quiet, have a home-like atmosphere,...

We had a beautiful time staying in Sugar Beach Inn last November and the year ago, too. It is very nice place and very nice and helpful hosts. We felt as at home and we really love to come again.

This is our second visit to the Inn at Sugar Beach. My daughter and I have many friends on Maui and we usually stay with them however this last visit found other family members there over the Thanksgiving holiday so we had to make other arrangements. Earlier this year we "stumbled" upon this charming place via recommendations from the other...

We (my wife and I) had a chance to compare some places on Kihei and Lahaina. Should say it was a luck to find this place: very nice, quiet, and comfortable. Good taste in interior design reminded us our own apartment. A lot of features: Wi-Fi internet connection, modern TV and audio devices, different small stuff which makes your life...

My family (my wife and I, our three children, and two grandchildren) spent a wonderful week in the Sugar Beach Inn this past July. The Inn consists of 5 one-bedroom apartments on the ground floor and a 3-bedroom penthouse and another one-bedroom apartment (which connected to the penthouse) on the second floor. The Inn is owned and managed by Gary...

Had a terrible time finding a 1 week timeshare "swap" into Kihei for this past February, using my Kauai banked unit. Finally, in desperation, I booked this "Inn". Sure not what the pictures on their website indicated. I guess the two most disturbing things were, #1. My credit card was charged for the full week upon CHECK-IN? #2. There were...

Management response:

The Inn at Sugar Beach has dressers in every bedroom of every suite, the kitchen is equipped with brand new major appliances, small appliances, pots, pans, dishes, etc. Balcony has new outdoor carpet and patio furniture. Our payment policy is standard for our small hotel industry.
