We stayed at #19 which was more protected from the wind and has a great lanai right by the pool. The first few nights were great but when noisy people moved in upstairs, we could hear every footstep very loudly. I had ear plugs, ran the ceiling fan and air conditioner, still couldn't sleep some nights due to noise from upstairs. Left them a nice note, but didn't help.

Kihei Kai Condos is a simple 2 story Condo Complex at the North end of Kihei. Condos are individually owned so each unit is very different. Some better equipped than others. The complex is maintained beautifully. The pool is VERY small, “L” shape and 2-4 people can easily take it over. The beach front is fantastic with loungers and chairs, a shower and 3 permanent umbrellas. Biggest issue is the umbrellas don’t offer much shade throughout the day as there’s no flexibility in their position as the sun moves. This is a real problem later in the afternoon when you want to be out by the ocean but the shady areas only accommodate a couple of people. The ocean and beach is amazing. The gradual slope means you don’t get the crashing surf except on the roughest of days. Getting in and out of the water is easy. There are 3 clean and functioning BBQs and tables for eating while watching the sunset. The maintenance staff are to be commended for their hard work. The grounds and pool are great. The rental prices vary a little depending on the location of the unit in the complex. Compared to the neighbouring places, the prices are excellent (by Maui standards) I don’t want to recommend this place too much as we don’t want it too busy for when we plan to get back there! Haha. Just joking. The place is awesome!

Our stay was ruined by the incredibly loud and intrusive construction work. We had workmen right outside our window on ladders drilling into the side of the unit. As a result the condo was completely uninhabitable for the majority of our stay. Clearly the condo should not have been rented out whilst this work was going on. I informed the management team about the works but was given no apology or compensation. Avoid this place at all costs

Booked to stay at Kihei Kai Oceanfront condos and booked the ocean view. The condo is in enviable position of being right on the beach. Views from bedroom lounge and terrace look out onto the ocean and beach. It’s beautiful. The grounds are kept very nice, really tidy and clean. The pool is warm and clean, location to the beach, quiet end of Kihei; just a short drive to the town. Staff are great and Paula was on hand to help with a few things; she’s lovely. However- it turns out the condos are all privately owned, and just managed by the site. This is where the roulette and disappointment comes in; to be fair there isn’t anything the owners of the company can really do. Our condo was worn and tired. From light switches that didn’t work, sockets coming off the wall, dirty stained pots and pans, patio screens and wardrobe doors that have to be dragged open, tiles falling off the walls and patio, complete hash of furniture and some hand made cupboards that are awful. Our daughter stayed on the sofa bed and I felt so sorry for her- you could feel every spring. It was so old and dated. Lots of junk in the cupboards from the owners. Patio glass is filthy, doors dirty, rusting and the security method is a plastic stick in the runner to stop it being opened. Ironing board must be 30 years old- the rusty squeals as you open goes right through you. The list goes on and on. Some condos looked very nice and modern and they came with loungers and beach chairs. We had none. Our patio had a table that was so wobbly I had to put a book under the foot to make it useable. The noise from above is awful and the couple were doing their best to be quiet. You can hear the vacuum cleaner, toilet and shower, footsteps sound like a herd of wild beasts coming through the condo. I had read that there was renovation work in July but we still had it in August. Balconies were still being repainted, facias being replaced and all the sanding from the wood work and old paint fell onto our balcony so we couldn’t use it when they were renovating. Not really the peaceful Hawaii you hope for with electric sawing and hammering throughout the day. I wouldn’t say don’t stay here as I am sure not all condos are like ours and the people and views are great but double check before booking. The pictures can’t be relied on alone as we found out. Shame really and we have come away feeling robbed and let down by the individual owners of No.1. How they can rent somewhere out so old fashioned and needing a refurb so badly is beyond me, especially with a price tag of over £1000 for 6 days.

This Condo felt like a second home. Fully stocked with everything you need to cook and relax. We stopped at Costco after leaving the airport (5 min away) picked up the basics and headed to the condo. We were so pleasantly surprised at how clean and maintained the place is. (it has been renovated) We arrived to an airconditioned unit that was so welcoming. The unit we were in #24 is a perfect location. I loved listening to the ocean at night. The bed was so comfortable we had no problems sleeping. Spent lots of time on the lanai the patio furniture is pretty comfy. The beach is BEAUTIFUL!! Pretty secluded, not over run with people. The water was perfect couldn't believe it was December. Sunsets are amazing! We had beach towels, lawn chairs, umbrella and snorkel gear at the condo available to use. There is a great little bakery, an ABC store and a shaved ice just down the road walking distance. We did lots of sight seeing the location of the condo makes it easy to go almost anywhere. All in all we had the most amazing vacation and will definitely come back to stay in the same unit.
