Run away, this place is a great example of how NOT run a resort. Rooms are dirty, we got a view looking at transportation containers, had to move 1/2 way through the trip. Beds are so soft that is like sleeping in the hole. Calling 'Express Service' is futile as there was never an answer.

I stayed here 1 week with my family during the summer. This was my 2nd time at this hotel. First off, considering COVID restrictions that were in place the hotel did a decent job of dealing with the crush of tourism. Pros: First and foremost, the resort grounds are incredible! The koi ponds, waterfalls, pools, and waterslides kept the kids entertained and provided a relaxing tropical vibe day and night. There's a separate adults only area with it's own pool and bar if you prefer peace & quiet. There were many activities that were scheduled during the week like Hawaiian dancing, and even a VW surfer van converted into a shave ice bar handing out free Shave Ice. Location is perfect...being next door to Whalers Village is convenient. This time around it was a bonus because many of the restaurants weren't taking reservations. It's easy to walk over, put your name on the wait list & then walk back when the table was ready. Having an ABC store next door was convenient as well. Hotel rooms are ok, nothing spectacular. I normally get upgraded with status, but not this time. It's all good though, the mountain views provide some beautiful scenery too. In terms of Bonvoy privileges, let's just say it was a bit on the light side. They did offer a Happy Hour with free Mai Tai's one day and free breakfast everyday, which was appreciated but honestly was a bit lacking in substance. Cons: The check-in line was chaos, zero organization in the line. No excuse for that one. Waiting for elevators could take a while, but given social distancing, not a shocker. The biggest issue by far was the daily struggle to find open deck chairs at the pool. If you don't save a spot by 7am you were pretty much out of luck. Hopefully that gets fixed in the future. It's not cool, going to a resort, getting charged that stupid resort fee, then not even getting a chair at the pool. Oh, one final tip. Don't fall for that Westin time share deposit thing in the lobby. I think it's a waste of $200.Spend it on a few drinks instead. They can't confirm or even look up availability when you put the deposit down and it's a huge pain in the butt to try to get something reserved. My advice, keep walking past that office. Overall, positive experience. I'd go back to this hotel again.

My husband and I booked a room at the Westin for the first part of our honeymoon, not because we thought it would be nice, but because we could use points and save money. Sadly, this hotel didn’t even meet our low expectations. We came across some very friendly staff members — valet, bartenders, wait staff at the restaurant by the pool — and the spa was surprisingly wonderful. Otherwise, the title of my review basically summarizes our feelings about this hotel at its best. As other reviewers have mentioned, it’s pretty clear that the hotel could not care less about its guests. You are just one in a huge number of rooms, and you are reminded of that at every turn. The “special” honeymoon amenity we received when we checked in was a set of kissing swans made out of towels. There was also a welcome gift, of which we were informed by a phone call at 8am. If we wanted it, we could go down to the lobby and get it… and listen to the concierge try to upsell us with activities. If we wanted towels at the pool, we could exchange the cards we were given at check in for towels, which we had to return after use. If we wanted chairs on the beach, that would cost us. If we wanted late check out, we could maybe get it if we asked on the day of our departure… for an additional charge of $25 per hour. All of these extra charges come on top of a nightly room rate that far exceeds what the rooms are worth. The walls are like tissue paper — you can hear everything in the room next door. The rooms are also very small… so much so that it’s difficult to find space to put two suitcases where they won’t be in the way. There is only one sink in the bathroom, so if you have two toiletry bags, good luck drying your hair in front of that mirror. Not to mention, nothing was overly clean. The dust collecting around the outlet in the bathroom made my skin crawl. Also, the first night we arrived, after traveling for 12+ hours, we realized that the door to the balcony would not lock. Especially given that you could easily climb from one balcony to the next, this didn’t make us particularly comfortable. While the maintenance technician that came was very nice and was able to repair the lock, it took two calls to the front desk to get him to the room. Not ideal after a very long day of traveling. Given that we paid for this stay with points, we’re really just looking forward to leaving (this is how we’re ending our last night here). If I were one of the people who shelled out $800 or more per night, however, I would be LIVID. To charge that kind of money in return for dingy rooms and almost no hospitality is just unacceptable. If you want a luxurious, classy vacation experience in exchange for your hard-earned money… skip the Westin.

Amazing time. Hotel was at low capacity during majority of our stay. Room in the Hokupaa tower was beautiful and clean. The Lanai was exceptional and staff super friendly and attentive. Highly recommend. The pool was great with a fun slide. As others have said the pool is cold. Take a minute to get used too. Refreshing when it’s so hot though. The ocean feels much warmer. Food and drinks by pool and bar area were fantastic. Tell the bartenders what you like and they make some creative drinks. The Saturday before we left an influx of people arrived and hotel got super busy. Was harder finding seats at the pool, bar area, and Starbucks had a line. If you come to any hotel thinking you should get special treatment because of your “status” you are going to have a bad time. It’s Hawaii, relax and enjoy it.

We have stayed at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa many times over the years but this was our first visit since Thanksgiving 2019. This year's stay was for 8 nights. A few years back, the hotel was feeling a bit "tired" and renovations had begun. We are pleased to report that the place now looks and feels great! All of the public areas are now very fresh/new looking - and currently have extensive, beautiful holiday decorations. Our room was nice - average size, typical layout, good A/C and TV. However, the sliding glass doors and balcony provided an incredible view overlooking the pool area and then the Pacific and the islands of Lanai and Molokai - breathtaking every time that we looked out, even after 8 days. The hotel appeared to be quite full for Thanksgiving week but we were always able to find desirable loungers at the pool. The lobby area includes several shops, a (usually crowded) Starbucks, and several restaurants of varying price ranges. We had very enjoyable drinks and dinner at Hale Moʻolelo (medium/reasonably priced) - our table right along the beach-walk, while watching the sunset, made the event really special. Service from all of the staff was excellent throughout the week - everywhere, all of the time. A huge Mahalo! to Michelle De Guzman for her tremendous help and friendship throughout the week. We also received outstanding front desk service from U'ilani and Lori. We are counting the days to next year's Thanksgiving return!
