This is one of the few (if not the only) large property hotel currently open on Maui. Currently any flights in to the island of Maui require passengers to quarantine for 14 days. This property is a “vacation ownership” property, which has pros & cons. No food services or retail stores are open, face masks are required in property & many rules apply while checked in. Main pool slide is closed as are all hot tubs.

Pros
They are open
Very functional rooms
Rooms have kitchen options depending on size
Great location
Friendly staff (except for staff wearing reflective vests)
Resident special rates

Cons
Check in is at 4pm & check out is at 10AM
You will be locked out of your room at 10:01 & you cannot use the pool after 10 am on check out day
Marriott Bonvoy status is worthless at this timeshare property(no late check out & no up grades).
No Valet Parking & Self Parking is very tight
Saw Reflective vest wearing staff members being Aggressive towards guests on multiple occasions
Long wait times at Elevators

If you are in need of a hotel staycation right now this is a your only option. Be prepared for the “new normal” & enjoy what is open.

There are many positive features about Maui Ocean Club including the staff, location, cleanliness, and variety of room selections - but there are a few things that need improvement.
The AC is too noisy and windy. The internet is too slow and you have to repeatedly sign back in. The pool lounge chairs are reserved before 7am with a towel but nobody sits in them for hours.
We have come to MOC many times and enjoy our stay in Kaanapali, but there is always room for improvement.

We have been owners for years, and visited this property several times. This time in particular I noticed staff really made an extraordinary effort at extraordinary service. Always pleasant in the past, and no complaints, this year I noticed a difference. Many staff working hard all the time performing extra cleaning services to demonstrate Marriotts commitment to keeping everyone safe from Covid. Other staff seemed to work harder to help guests out, as if the brand us trying to compensate for some amenities being unavailable. Well, I noticed and began an effort to thank at least one staff a day. In normal times, there is little chance an owner could upgrade a room onsite, in my experience. Due to the reduced occupancy, we, normally partial ocean view people, had the undeniable pleasure of an oceanfront room in newest tower, Napoli. Wow. Taste of the good life! Napili tower rooms are custom built for timeshare, not hotel conversion, and we enjoyed every inch of difference. So my point is...if you are an owner, take advantage of book8ng rooms now with upgrade flexibility. Yes, some amenities are closed at present, but my family agreed we had a great time and our vacation was not severely impacted by accommodating Covid safety precautions. We did our best to conform to Covid rules, we ate more in our unit, so what. Maui, and this property, delivers. Thanks to staff for making extra effort.

Not once did we feel out of place for booking our stay as guests rather than being a timeshare owner. As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted with great customer service and they even checked us in 3 hours early! The beachfront view was amazing! The pools were great for all ages. My 5yo loved the kids area. The pool bar has nice drinks and we’re 2 dollars off for happy hour. Pizza was great. If the food is too expensive you have the choice of walking to whalers beach for the food court or if you feel like cooking they have a gourmet kitchen and grills by the pool to use! They have filtered water dispensers all throughout the resort. Lots of games like life sized chess and checkers, ping pong, billiards etc. The beach was steps away. We watched the sunset every night that we were there. Truly a spectacular place. We’ll definitely visit again!

As Marriott Timeshare owners, we have been staying at this Maui property for over 25+ years; both personally & attending business conferences. If possible I would rate this Ocean Club at least 4.5 stars. The 2-3 bedroom apartments include a full kitchen, washer & dryer, dining and family rooms. We have always been assigned a view better than expected. This time we were upgraded to an Ocean front view & balcony in the Napili Tower. This tower was closer to parking & was much quieter than the other buildings. One minor maintenance item was responded to immediately. Our series of swimming pools & lounge chairs were never crowded. Free DVD’s of current movies were available via a machine directly next to the primary elevators. Although we have sampled many restaurants off property, the poolside Kalua pork nachos were excellent. The staff were all helpful & friendly. This property is a perfect getaway to avoid the winter weather in the Mainland. (Continental USA)

While this is definitely an older Marriott resort that’s suffered closures during the pandemic, we enjoyed our stay at this well-maintained property.

This was our first vacation since 2019. I packed antibacterial wipes and didn’t need them. Masks are required in public spaces unless you’re eating or swimming. Staff sanitized chairs and surfaces frequently throughout the day.

With an abundance of pools spread out over the luscious grounds, you definitely maintained 6 feet from others.

Only disappointment was the lack of dining onsite. The Beach Walk made it easy to dine out but due to COVID protocols reservations were difficult to get. We probably grilled more than we’d normally do on vacation.

Other pluses: I saw a whale from the beach, a truly delightful sight to behold as it jumped in the air. We also came across lots of sea turtles and this napping monk seal on the beach.

We spent four days at the Grand Wailea before coming here. Stay there instead! Here is a list of everything that’s closed or unavailable at the Marriott. Hawaii has no restrictions on these things (I checked) other than capacity limits; all were open at the Grand Wailea. We walked down to the Westin (also owned by Marriott) and its pool slide is open and they have pool servers and beach showers. Restaurants are also open.
Closed at Marriott:
*Pool slides
*Hot tubs
*Fitness Center - plus all the outdoor fitness stations around the pool - no outdoor fitness classes (yoga)
*Ice Machines
*No pool servers
*No housekeeping
*Showers for after the beach are closed!
*Restaurants except pool bar ($23 quesadilla anyone?) and Starbucks. Starbucks is closed Tuesday/Wednesday and only open on other days until 11am.
*Kids activities

Also the wifi is terrible. They have smart TVs in the room and we tried to watch a movie on Netflix last night and it buffered every five minutes. On the iPhone it cuts out constantly and if you do get on it it is extremely slow to open anything.

Very disappointed in our stay.

First of all we felt NO ALOHA is there. We understand under the circumstances of Covid-19 but their lack of services and aloha were outrageous. Poor management ignored or didn't return calls at all when we owners report any issues. They should shut down the property if they don't provide at least minimum services and clean rooms as the same level of the next door, the Westin, provides.

We are owners of one week of timeshare here. We try to come in February each year, but the whales are spectacular January thru March. We own an ocean view week and we were given possibly the best unit possible. Top floor, Lanai Tower. Every morning, we’d sit on our balcony, watch whales, as the boats chased after them. With binoculars, we were right next to them. The location of the MOC is on a perfect stretch of beach for snorkeling as well as whale watching. To snorkel, enter the water at the beach activity hut, then snorkel parallel to shore. The deeper you go out, the more amazing.
Keep in mind, this particular property used to be a hotel. So, there is not a full kitchen in the units or a washer/dryer. There are 3 bathrooms, in a 2 bedroom unit. There is a free, large laundry room available in one of the buildings. If you absolutely need a full kitchen, rent one of the units in the Lahaina or Napili Towers, next door. Regardless, the Marriott complex at Kaanapali sits on our favorite location on Maui. The location is also a convenient walk to Whalers Village and some of our favorite restaurants. We’ve already booked the week of February 14 for next year. Happy Valentines Day!!

We are new owners, having purchased a biannual 2-bedroom oceanfront week on redweek.com. This was our first visit. We were a bit apprehensive, given the age of the property and some of the reviews. I have to confess I loved it. Much depends on the unit of course. We had 4108/4109: we stayed in 4109 ( the „true“ oceanfront ) and our friends in 4108 ( slightly overlooking the pool area, but easily seeing the ocean ). We looked at the top of the palm trees: Hawaii feeling at its best. Watching whales from the balcony while sipping wine was just amazing. Note though: the two-bedrooms can be split into a one-bedroom ( includes a living room ) and a studio: the studio can be off to the side and not offer much „oceanfront“, easily leading to disappointment. There are room maps, showing it all.
There were plenty of lounge chairs available. There is a person watching out that you do not reserve more than 2 lounge chairs or not more than one hour and not before 7:00 am: annoying, of course, if you try otherwise, but in the end good for all and good for you: so thanks. The premises are beautifully and immaculately maintained. The beach is beautiful, though it is good to check for the spot between the MMOC and the Napili Towers ( I think ), where the water is a bit less dark because it is sandy and easy to enter without encountering corals. Plenty to enjoy on the premises too. Lots of restaurants and activities nearby. We used the BBQ grills a lot to grill tuna air mahi mahi steaks: plenty always available and well maintained. Overall very enjoyable.
