I have reviewed this Inn before but wanted to again due to our most recent stay! Over the winter some upgrades were done at least to the 3rd floor which is where we generally stay! Heat pump units were added which was wonderful! No more...More

Thank you -- such a nice review with which to begin another season!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Central House. The owner was friendly. It was in a Great location. We coukd walk into the village. The room was perfect, had a comfy bed. Close to Acadia National park entrance. We loved Bar Harbor and would...More
The Central House is an old Victorian house that's now a hotel. Hence, the decor was appropriate and charming. We'd requested a top floor room (room #302), but my husband and I are both 6 ft tall. Ouch ... we both hit our heads on...More

Thank you so much for your review. We installed a "mesh" wifi system several years ago so that guests can pick up wifi in every room of the inn. However, the internet service was interrupted -- not internally, but due to something outside with the...More
The Central House was a good location. Reasonable price and you could walk everywhere. Didn't need a car unless you left area. If it is raining you can just cross the street to eat and the food was awesome. Just can't remember the name of...More
The Central House is well located for walking around Bar Harbor. Our room on the 3rd floor was small but priced right for the area. This location needs some updating on the upper floors and it is an old building so it is not sound...More

My wife and i are planning an anniversary trip in September 2015 to Maine from Pennsylvania. I am sure that I read the answer to my question somewhere, but I cannot remember. Does the Central House have air conditioned rooms? Is airy conditioning needed in September?

I would stay in Bar Harbor for three days. Just park your car there and you are all set. You can walk to the shops, restaurants and the water. You can hop on the buses everyday and go into Arcadia National Park. My husband and I hiked two days in the park, ate lobster at the waterfront, browsed the shops, went on a sailboat ride, rented bikes and just had a great time. You will love it there. We ate breakfast at Jordan's also every morning, it is a great place to eat and very friendly.
