The Inn on Castro was an awesome place to stay. This Inn is a great representation of the restored homes of San Francisco. Jan was a great host and with his breakfast cooking and conversation it was truly enjoyable! The room was clean and comfortable. The service from Sarah was great, all our needs were met and exceeded! We would absolutely...

The second time staying at this excellent bed & breakfast. I had never looked forward to staying at a place in SF more than at the Inn on Castro. Delicious breakfasts prepared and served by the highly sympathetic owner, comfortable rooms - some with beautiful views. Always pleasant company of other guests around the breakfast table. Jan, the owner knows...

I did not want to stay at any of the big chain hotels and was very glad to have found the Inn on Castro. It's clean, quiet, the breakfast delicious and the staff super nice. I especially like the good selection of cafes and restaurants right around the corner. Will stay there again.

My daughter and her family live around the corner from the Inn, so I often stay there. Jan is a wonderful, experienced host...and the hot breakfast is just the best! The rooms are all different and fun; most have a private bath. Wi-fi service is good. It really is the breakfast where you meet fun people from all over, and...

This review is long overdue. My boyfriend and I went to San Francisco in June of 2016 for Pride! It was our second time in the city, visiting from Honolulu. We searched for places to stay but really wanted something close to The Castro. It was the best decision we ever made to stay at the Inn on the Castro....

My fiancé (now husband) and I stayed here in November of 2015 and LOVED it! Jan and his staff were charming, attentive, interesting, and very helpful. The Inn is located in one of my favorite neighborhoods in all of San Francisco - The Castro - and only a couple of blocks from excellent public transportation will take you anywhere (almost)...

I put my parents up here for four nights when we all met in San Francisco. They stayed in the small suite on the ground floor of the building, which suited them well as they didn't have to walk up any stairs. The suite itself was nice and spacious. There are windows leading outside from the sitting room, but none...

Jan is an amazing host, he is kind, friendly. helpful and funny. He has kept this B&B in excellent condition. The rooms are beautiful, and have been well thought out for the guests' comfort. He has heaters in the rooms, free water available, very comfortable beds, nice clean towels, everything. The breakfast that he sets up is also way above...

Amazing place to stay! Chose from many different rooms to fit your taste, warm and cozy for Winter, right across the street from all the action and food on Castro Street. I wouldn't stay anywhere else, I go every year. The Host makes it all worth while, He personally serves a fresh organic breakfast every morning, wonderful coffee's, desserts, even...

The Inn is in a prime location. It is directly above a Muni-Metro stop and connections to the BART are easy to make.Despite being where Market and Castro Streets meet, it is quiet. Jan, the host, is extremely congenial and the breakfast table conversations were fun. The other guests were interesting as well. Although we ourselves are not gay, we...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
