For decades I have been staying at The Inn on Castro when I am in San Francisco for business. It is quiet, clean, super comfortable, with kind flexible management and delicious communal breakfasts. An ideal home away from home.

The inn on Castro was such a gem. I didn't even know it existed until I went. The rooms are beautiful and the Victorian detail to the home is lovely. They provide free made to order breakfast and have a fridge on the floor that has free drinks. I can't wait to go back.

Jan's Inn in the heart of the Castro is a true gem. Full of art and unique mid century furniture, you're getting a real San Francisco stay. Jan will also cook you a delicious breakfast each morning in the beautifully appointed dining room / lounge area. The brown velvet couches are 👌👌👌. It's also within walking distance to a ton...

We stayed in the Green Room in early October and had a fantastic time. The B&B was very comfortable and clean, and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect, with transit easily accessible close by and lots to do/see within walking distance. I would highly recommend the Inn on Castro!

Rooms are always clean. Check in is easy. Breakfast is good. We are always treated very well. We have stayed here several times over the past few years. The rooms have mini refrigerators and they are stocked with water and a few different types of soda's and juices. The room also had coffee maker, coffee, microwave and plates/utensils. Very large...

The Inn on Castro is a great B&B located really close to the F-line streetcars which run all the way up Market Street, so it was very convenient. Also located within walking distance to restaurants. The breakfasts were great with lots of options. We were in the "Yellow Room" on the first floor, near the entrance so I thought it...

Really nice spacious apartment, in Castro but away from the hustle & bustle. Great transport links to all the best San Francisco has to offer. Jan is a great host. Kitchen not the best equipped but perhaps is not aimed at self-caterers.

I stayed at the Inn On Castro for just over a week in September. I was in the Hideaway Room. It was perfect. Location-wise The Castro is great because there is always plenty of activity around at night, which always makes me feel better when travelling alone. The muni stop was super close and made the whole city relatively easily...

With a wonderful inn keeper, great accommodations right in the heart of the Castro, what more can you ask for? Charming 1890's home with up graded facilities, great home made gourmet breakfasts, and an entertaining and vibrant inn keeper who knows how to make all guest feel comfortable, and who has the inside on all SF sights and what to...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
