We really enjoyed our stay at Inn on Castro! We especially loved the cool mid-century furnishings juxtaposed against this lovely Victorian home! The room, WITH attached bath, was very nice and comfortable, and included a decanter of whiskey to lull us to sleep!! The host, Jan, was delightful and helpful, and the breakfast, which Jan cooked, was over the top!!!

1 . location. All the travelers want to be at union, or embarcadero or wharf. But castro is too a really good option even if you are not gay. The public transportation is dense there ( muni, buses, charming tramway) and working late. You are staying really near (by walk) of the famous mission district, no less famous twin peaks,...

I've been staying at the Inn on Castro for many years. The Inn itself is cozy and in a fantastic location. Jan is one of the friendliest and most helpful B&B owners I've ever met. The apartments on Caselli street are ideal if you want something quiet, off the beaten path, and make you feel like you're living in the...

We recently spent 5 nights at the Inn on Castro while attending the San Francisco Silent Film Festival. The proprietor, Jan, was a great resource on things to do in the city and places to eat in the neighborhood. Our room was comfortable and well-kept, and the daily full breakfasts were delicious and sustained us through mid afternoon most days!...

Just back from a 5 day stay at the Inn on Castro. Room was spacious, service excellent, and breakfasts fantastic. Turned out we were there during the annual Castro Film Festival, so lots of interesting conversations over breakfast. From the Inn, it's half a block to MUNI, and from there it was easy to get anywhere in SF.

Very nice building and rooms. Very, very delicious breakfast. Very friendly and competent host. Good and colourful environment. Worth the spending which is rather high but on an average San Francisco level.

Had an amazing experience here! The breakfast was delicious and fresh ever morning. My room was very comfortable and felt just like home. The place is also conveniently located near a MUNI station so you can easily access the rest of the city.

We stayed for 4 nights in the Red Room. It has a private bathroom and was very clean and cozy. The Inn is in a great location - in the heart of Castro (nonetheless we did not experience any loud nights) and the Muni station is right across the street. Jan was great, giving us all the local information we...

We booked last minute on 15th April and were lucky to get the last room available. We stayed for 2 nights in this charming Inn. Its a short walk from Castro is that is what you want. Particularly useful is the street across where there is parking (though at a slight risk). The Breakfast in the morning prepared by the...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
