A few weeks ago I was in San Francisco for a Holiday party. I as planning on spending the night but found myself in need of a room for Friday night. A friend suggested I try the nearby Union Street Inn. Such luck the Carriage House was available for Friday night only. The innkeeper was very accommodating and showed me...

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent two night stay at the Union Street Inn. It was our second stay in the Carriage House, we liked the spacious, comfortable area and the beautiful, peaceful garden. Our charming hostess, Kit, spared no effort in making our visit an memorable experience. She prepared delicious breakfasts and gave us great advice about local restaurants, scenic...

A charming Bed&Breakfast, located in the heart of the Marina. Going downtown is very easy - there is a bus stop right near the place (it is indicated by a vague yellow sign on a pole!). Going to the bay is a short walk - many places rent bikes to cross the Golden Gate. Many restaurants around offer excellent food....

We stayed at the Inn for a long weekend. I don't have a lot of experience with B & B's, but with the few that I have visited, I have come to expect a certain level of quirkiness or what some might call "quaintness". This place is no exception to that rule, but it is a wonderful place to stay,...

Visiting you family in the area or doing touristy things, this is the place to stay if you like bed and breakfast inns, or even if you don't. Located on vibrant Union Street, this recently renovated inn is even better than our previous visits yet still have the same remarkable staff. The room are great, bathrooms better and the breakfasts...

Nice location, as others have noted, easy walks to great San Fran offerings. Lafayette Park was particularly a nice morning walk, about 10 minutes. Checking in was a bit of a challenge, no parking available, and steep steps up to the front door. I did not appreciate being greeted by David as "Mr President", nor my wife as "Mrs Pence",...

This was our first trip to San Francisco and won't be our last thanks to our wonderful hosts at the Union Street Inn! We were delighted with our 4 night stay here. The location was perfect, lovely neighborhood to walk around, plenty of good restaurants nearby and good public transportation right outside the front door. The room was large, airy and the bed very comfortable. But the best thing about the Union Street Inn is the welcome. Being able to sit in the...

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
