    Hotel was wonderful-a step back in time with all the modern conveniences. The staff made my birthday very special with thoughtful personal note and bottle of wine. The maid staff on our floor were very warm and welcoming and gave us personal touches. Great location.

    No. This hotel is not very close to the pier. There is transportation to the pier (taxi, uber) but i suggest you try a hotel at fishermans wharf if you really want to be close to the pier.

    Yes, is in the french area. So there are good restaurants. And walking distance from Union Square, and China Town. Consider that most streets In SF are Steep hills. Have Fun.
