I came to San Francisco to attend a friend's wedding. I picked The Chancellor because the prices were decent and because it was close to a tourist area. A 10 min walk from Powell Station and Union Square is right outside. The Powell cable car stops almost outside the hotel and there's a 24 Walgreen's (pharmacy) a minute away from...

A lovey, historic hotel in a part of the city convenient to shopping, restaurants, the convention center, and many other things. The staff were very knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and helpful. The hotel restaurant breakfasts were superb. I loved this place!

Great hotel in the middle of Union Square. Everything is accessible. I had a rental car for business and the valet was great. Nice room, smaller, but if you've traveled to Europe it's no different. No AC but in March didn't make a difference. Nice lunch options in hotel restaurant. Great experience.

Built in 1904, this is a lovely slice of old San Francisco. The rooms are tastefully furnished, the staff is extremely helpful, the location is excellent (the same street as the cable car to Fisherman's Wharf) and the in-house restaurant provides great fare. For the price, it really is hard to go past the Chancellor.

Excellent place to stay if you want to enjoy the marvellous city of San Francisco. The rooms, although small, are well kept and attended to. The upper floors are quiet and if you are lucky, you will get the room with a view. Brilliant for business trips and if you are travelling with small family. One drawback though. Breakfast is...

This is not for anyone looking for clean lines and modern lo. This is an older very well kept hotel. The windows open out and have no screens (in case you have small kids) and the rooms are small but I really like it alot. I opted to pass on daily room housekeeping for a giftcard good at the restaurant...

Small boutique hotel, convenient, clean, friendly and wonderfully redone light new bathrooms, whats not to love! Prefer smaller hotels, and this one I would highly recommend. Staff wonderful and efficient. Tour desk booked my rental car, arranged to have it delivered, it arrived exactly on time. Great job! Love this hotel. Great restaurant next door too, can't remember the name,...

I spent two nights in S.F. at the Chancellor Hotel. First, the location is great, on Powell St. one half block from Union Square. My room was clean and well appointed. Nice flat screen TV., comfortable bed and pillows (they have several options) and a great shower. Decline housekeeping and for every night after the first you receive a free...

We stayed here in March. The hotel room was one of the most charming rooms I have ever seen! We had a room with two twin beds and it was small--but very efficient. The bathroom was tiny but the tub? It was a fabulous deep tub with bath salts provided. Despite the size, it was completely top notch. The beds...

Wonderful hotel in great location! Close to BART and Cable cars. We had two twin beds in a small room but the bathroom exceeded expectations. Very nice, classic black and white tile look. Lots of amenities in bathroom! Very clean. Walk-in closet. Loved opening the windows at night (we stayed in March). Super helpful staff at front desk and concierge....
