We were initially given a room looking out over Columbus Ave, but figured it might be a little noisy, so asked if we could move to the back of the hotel. No view, but we were only there to sleep, so it didn't matter to us. The room (109) was extremely quiet, clean and spacious. Friendly, helpful staff. No frig in the room, but ice machine just down the corridor. And we really appreciated having a safe in the room. Free parking....perfect in San Francisco where you can pay megabucks for parking. We purchased a MUNI bus pass as the bus stop was right outside the front door. Brilliant! If we are ever in San Francisco again, this will be our hotel of choice.

I'm so glad I found the Columbus Motor Inn. Had a 4 day, Thursday-Sunday, get away with my 3 grown daughters. We stayed in a family Suite. It was perfect for us. Our room was on the front of the Inn so there was a little road noise but nothing that kept us awake.
Having the sink and mirror outside the bathroom was a godsend in the morning with 4 females getting ready for the day. The full size blow dryer was appreciated as only one of us brought one.
We had a single serve coffee machine with coffee packets so no one had to run out and get coffee in the morning.
Since none of us had been to San Francisco and we were not renting a car the location was very important. This establishment is within walking distance to most of the major tourist attractions. We purchased a pass to ride the Hop on/Hop off bus to do a tour of the city and see some of the attractions further out.
Since check out was 11:00 and our flight was not until 5:30 they kindly kept our luggage until it was time to go to the airport. Throughout our stay everyone we encountered here was very friendly and helpful.

This place was perfectly located and perfect for our needs as a family of 4 (parents and two teenage boys). We got a family suite (Room 315) with 2 double beds and a round sitting table in the main room and a separate room with a queen bed. Room 315 faces Columbus street and gets some street noise (you can hear garbage trucks, etc) but the view of Coit Tower and surroundings is worth it. if you are really sensitive to noise, you can request a room that does not face the street but that room faces the backside of another building and has no view. For an extra $10 a day (or was it $5?), you can rent a small fridge for our stay.

The inn has free parking (worth the price alone!) and many bus cable stops are located nearby. In fact, there is one bus stop literally outside the door of the inn. Many tourists sites are located within a short walk or bus trip but the location did not feel like it was overrun by tourist at all.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room, while not luxurious, was perfectly clean and comfortable.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I highly recommend to everyone.

Nothing fancy but clean and good service - big plus is free parking. The location is great - in the North Beach area with lot's of great Italian restaurants nearby and easy walking distance to the Fisherman's wharf area. Columbus Ave. is a busy road so traffic noise can be a bit bothersome at times but you also have easy access to the trolley bus that runs along this street.

Despite being at the budget end for accommodation in San Francisco we found this hotel a great place to base ourselves to explore the city.

It's well located close to many tourist locations. Lots of good breakfast places close by (Eight Am, Pat's Cafe & Mama's on Washington all recommended). The are it's self felt very safe safe and we had no issues what so ever when walking.

We had a King & Queen suite. Room was a good size, very clean if a bit dated. We had maid service every day.

There was Air Con but only in one room so the second bedroom I would imagine could get uncomfortable if it's hot.

The lack of a fridge in the room is really the only negative thing we found.

Staff were all very polite & helpful.

Hotel offers free parking however there is no need for a car in the City (we got ours when we left for Yosemite) as most places can be walked to or accessed via good transport links.

Overall a great place to stay if you are looking for a decent budget friendly option in a good location.

Been here for two nights during the we. The hotel is located 5 mins walking to Fisherman’s and to other many places (Little Italy, Chinatown). The building is really well maintained, offers two free parking for guests and rooms are a bit old dated but clean and nice. A great choice for visiting San Francisco without getting broken. Staff is friendly and for breakfast there’s a Walmart and a Starbucks a few step away.

Our family of four spent 10 days traveling the west coast and stayed in four different hotels ranging from basic to bougie. This hotel was rated higher up on our list than expected. I was a little nervous before we arrived based solely on price for the location, but we loved this room! It was spacious and very clean, with a little balcony overlooking the street and huge floor to ceiling windows that you opened a bit. We stayed in the suite with two double beds, one queen, table and chairs. We actually felt like we could relax here. A huge bonus was the free parking and walkability. We parked our car and walked everywhere. We did uber back to the hotel once after we found ourselves at Pier 39 late at night and were hesitant about walking back in the dark with kids. In general we felt very safe here. Also, walk to Pat's Cafe for the best breakfast - I'm still thinking about it.

This is a great location for walking to Russian Hill area, Fisherman's Wharf, Coit Tower, Lombard Street, etc. And the price was good. They had recently remodeled, so the rooms were very nice for the price. Also, a laptop had been accidentally left in the room, and the night desk person went on and above to get it ubered to us down at the airport!

Was a bit Leary as the price was much less than others. Also only a couple hotels in that area offer no charge for parking a car. This is one of them. I was concerned they would run out of parking spots ( and can happen ) but 3 days and 2 nights and never had an issue.
The room was very clean and comfortable. No fridge or microwave but does have a coffee maker in the room and ice on the same floor.
I have no complaints about the room whatsoever.
Very much worth it and only a few blocks to fisherman’s wharf. Less than a 3 minute walk to the trollies.
The staff was incredible.. Everyone of them were super nice and willing to offer information anytime you asked.
I had a conversation with Tony. This guy is so pleasant and nice. We laughed a lot every time we spoke. Just has that amazing personality that makes you feel happy.
Excellent job Tony! And really the entire staff-good job!
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that needs one in this area.
Just remember to bring a jacket. It’s June 2022 and the mornings along the water is probably in the 50’s and during the day in the 60’s. A lot colder than I expected. (By the way, the heater and A/C worked wonderfully.

Six girlfriends from the Charlotte area stayed at the Columbus Motor Inn for 4 nights in October. Most of us had not been to SF in many years, so wanted to make sure we would be in not only a safe area, but one where we could walk to good restaurants and area attractions. What a great decision we made! This hotel is in a wonderful locality and we felt very safe. Prior to our visit, I called the hotel with a few questions. I spoke with Tony each time. He was delightful to say the least, so helpful and gave me good advice on restaurants to which we could walk. Three of us shared a suite and it was perfect! Our room was very clean and plenty big enough for the 3 of us! We had rented a large van, but we always found a parking space (with the help of hotel staff!) in the hotel's enclosed lot - a special amenity. I wish I could remember the name of the woman who checked us all in upon arrival...exhausted from the flight too! She was remarkable, so efficient and we were in our rooms in no time! Although we were on Columbus Avenue and there were lots of busses, trucks etc., the noise did not bother us at all! Kudos to the owner(s) of this hotel - I would recommend your hotel to anyone who asked. Please give Tony and staff our regards and thanks. I think he will remember us!
