We stayed here 4 nights over Fathers Day weekend 2014. We loved the patio off the garden room, but the older double bed was not comfortable for a couple and a big disappointment. We would love to try it again if the mattress is updated.

We normally stay in hotels so staying in a B&B is pretty new for us. We looked a lot at airbnb.com but we where lucky and for some reason we found "A Country Cottage" searching on google. We made the reservation and did not know what to expect, the price was very low. We paid 99 $ / night including... More

I stayed here for a week on a solo vacation trip to San Francisco. I stayed in the secluded room which was bigger than the rest but didn't have any airflow whereas the other two rooms downstairs have doors or windows to outside. I requested and was booked into the upstairs room but was put downstairs because they gutted most... More

This is not at all a country cottage. Rather a row house tucked away in a quite SF lane, near Market Street and walking distance to Castro. A pleasant surprise at an affordable rate. we basically had the run of the house and it felt like a home away from home. The rooms weren't large but very clean and the... More

I have been staying here at A Country Cottage when visiting San Francisco, at least twice per year, for about 5 years now. It is the best value in the city. It is a Victorian 4bedroom converted into a lovely B&B. Quiet, on a dead end and thus quiet side street off Delores across from the mission. The neighborhood is... More

If you're intrested in the Mission and/or the Castro, this is the perfect place to stay. Located on a small street just off Dolores Park, the Country Cottage B&B is only one block from Valencia street and four from Castro street. Despite this, the B&B is quiet and calm. I heard a few sirens from the policestation nearby, but other... More

Very hip neighborhood with great coffees and restaurants. Price is great for San Francisco. Different breakfasts were prepared every morning. Spent three nights there and if I go back I will definitely go this small B and B. It feels like a mini hostel for grownups. :)

Such a pretty little place, warm and cosy, and situated on a quiet street in the Mission - a safe and affluent area. We stayed in the 'Secluded Room' - the largest of the four rooms with a big and comfortable bed and moved to the Blue Room the night before we left (three nights in total). All rooms equipped... This may very well be one the best places I have ever stayed in San Francisco. Located at the end of a quiet street adjacent to Dolores Park, A Country Cottage is quiet and comfortable. The room was clean and cozy. Bathrooms are shared, but I never had to wait. Annie, the inn-keeper is really nice and helpful. She makes... More

Staying in Mission District

Neighbourhood Profile
Mission District
From burritos to bicyclists, the Mission is the foundation for all things hip in the city. Cultural attractions, an independent arts community, sumptuous street murals and a high density of bars and cafes make this neighbourhood a magnet for young people. While terrific inexpensive food is abundant, its top-of-the-line restaurants now compete with the city’s best for fashionable diners. Indulge as the locals do by heading to Mission Dolores Park, buy some ice cream, and savor one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in the country.

“Take the "upstairs room". We thought the "Upstairs" mean that we have to walk stairs to a higher floor. That is little misleading because of the "Upstairs room" is located in the ground floor, and the other rooms are located in the basement.”

“There are only 4 rooms. The upstairs room has a bath across the hall, and since it is the only room upstairs you tend to have the bathroom to yourselves. But if you want to sleep late and not have breakfast, the room is right off the dining area. Downstairs the blue room is largest, but the garden room has French doors to a lovely tiny patio.”

“upstairs room”
of 5 bubbles fallfoliagefooleries, 18 Sep 2013 | Read review
“Since there is only 1 room upstairs, if privacy is your thing, I'd suggest that room. The 3 lower rooms tend to have to share 1 bathroom, although there is a second upstairs that all may use. This can pose a minor inconvenience at times but nothing that could deter us from any of the 3 rooms downstairs. They are all lovely, comfortable and clean. One even has its own wolk out to a quaint garden patio! It's ALL good! If, like me, you crave high water pressure in your showers, be sure and use the upstairs shower. It could scour the barnicles off of an old ships hull!”
