I've stayed two times in this hostel and another time in the HI Downtown. I prefer this one, in fisherman's wharf. I love it, is so close from fisherman wharf and has majestic views. I stayed in different rooms both times and liked them all. The staff is nice! I love that they have a huge kitchen, pool table and...

Stayed 5 days and loved it here. The views are to die for, and the staff super friendly. Really recommend making the most of the free activities, especially walking tours. Feels like I'm back on school camp. Free breakfast is plain but filling and coffee yum!

Helpful friendly staff. Excellent location near to fisherman's wharf and the bay. Nice grassy area out front for enjoying the sun. Bathrooms were perfectly clean. Being an HI hostel expect the usual boring, sterile rooms and extensive lists of rules.

Having chosen to stay in a youth hostel with my family to keep costs down on a long road trip through California, I was surprised and disappointed in equal measure by the fisherman's wharf hostel. Firstly came the disappointment. The room, a private four bed (2 bunks) room, was small, basic (as expected) and uncared for. It needed a good...

My room was in the basement. The advantage there is no bunk beds. Yay, I hate bunks. The disadvantage is the windows are right next to a popular walking path. The windows opened down, the shades pulled down, so you couldn't have the windows open for fresh air and also have the shades closed for privacy. They need to work...

This was my first time staying in a Hostel so I booked a private room. I usually stay in 3+ star hotels so I wasn't expecting much for ammenities. I went there b/c I was told it's a great way to meet people to see the sights with. Well, maybe if you are in your twenties it is. There was...

My boyfriend and I stayed in a private room. The shared amenities were always kept clean, there was free wifi in our room and there was complimentary breakfast. Above all we stayed here because of its location. The hostel is right on the head of the bay. walk out the back and you will have amazing views of the golden...

The location is fabulous, and they offer wonderful activities, but the rooms are overcrowded, the beds uncomfortable, and the noise level high. The staff's attitude is pretty much that they are doing you a favor by letting you stay there rather than that they are eager to be friendly to people who are paying quite a bit (as hostels go)...

Stayed 4 nights while visiting SF for the first time, free parking was a key attraction. Note this hostel is about a half an hour walk from the centre of SF downtown. I didn't find it too much of an issue but others did. The dorm room was the largest I've stayed in but worked ok (there is always the...

Sadly, this was one of the worst hostels I've stayed in. Maybe it just wasn't "me", though the friends I stayed with agreed they didn't particularly like it either. It's very run down. The laundry is only open for a few hours a day, which means everyone wants to use them at those times. The pool table is nice to...

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
