Who ever is thinking of staying at this hotel should run away!! I booked a two night stay paying almost 250 dollars a night. When I arrived at the hotel I was shocked and extremely disappointed with the parking situation. You have to ask someone at the front desk to open the door to the parking garage. I waited 20 minutes until someone approached the front desk asking me what they could assist me with. The parking situation is tight and stressful there is absolutely not space and is hazardous. When initially walking into the room it smelled like mold and smelt like a retirement home. The smell carried through the hallways also. Waking up expecting a good breakfast for the price I paid for the hotel it was disappointed and upset with the breakfast provided. There was bread and two plates of cold cuts and some muffins. For paying almost $250 a night I expected a better breakfast for the money. At times there was no more cheese or orange juice left and no one refilled it until asked. Especially the first morning I asked for more orange juice since non was left and the clerk had to go to the store to purchase more which is ridiculous. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone especially for the price they charge nightly!!

Really good location with a short walk to union square, cable cars etc. The rooms are old fashioned but that gave them real character. Hotel was clean. Continental breakfast was provided - juice, coffee, tea, porridge, toast, muffins, fruit etc. We enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff.

We had two rooms at the Mayflower and enjoyed our stay. The rooms are pretty old fashioned (in keeping with the whole hotel) but were spotlessly clean and had all we needed. Breakfast was nice - nothing hot (no bacon, sausage etc) bar toast but they had microwaves for anything you wanted to heat (cereal, milk, hard boiled egg etc). The Hotel is relatively central but I would avoid walking up Jones St near the hotel - its not a pleasant stretch particularly at night given the homeless situation. Sad but a fact.

This is my second time staying here and I love it as much as I did 10 years ago. It is conveniently located in the heart of downtown near Chinatown and down to the Piers. My family and I walked down from there to Pier 33 to go to the Alcatraz tour. During our stay 10 years ago the hotel offered an organic continental breakfast. This time, I don’t think anything was organic and we didn’t eat breakfast there but they offer basics like cold boiled egg, oranges, apple, bread, muffins. Front desk staff of friendly. They offer *FREE* parking BUT keep in mind this is a very old hotel and they have a very very narrow garage. We had a compact car and had to fold the windows in. 10 years ago our room was noisy and small but comfortable. This time we had a larger room and very quiet. Bed was comfortable along with shower. They provide cups and dishes. I think they’ve updated the interior and windows to make it more pleasant and May be under new management since I stayed here last. All in all great stay and great value! Thank you for your hospitality!!

Mayflower is in a convenient and safe part of the lower Nob Hill area and a good base for exploring the city. The hotel is dated and shabby but clean and charming. The major pros are the exceptional staff who went beyond the call of duty, the free attached garage (make sure you check the dimensions of your car in advance because the entrance is so narrow), and a continental breakfast.

Getting back to the Mayflower Hotel was such a positive experience. I was feeling the charm of the Hotel. COVID protection measures were great. Everyone wearing masks. There was no in house breakfast available which I would not have used anyhow. Our rooms had each a small kitchen with microwave and sink

This is definitely my favored Hotel in San Francisco. I am getting here the fifth year in a row. The hotel gives me the nice feeling of good old San Francisco. You can reach most places by foot or by the city railroad on Market Street. Definitely a place for want to enjoy the town.

We spent 4 nights at the Mayflower on the end of a road trip down from Seattle. What a great way to spend the last part of our vacation. We arrived early (about 10am) just to drop our bags before we returned our rental car to the airport. Very surprised when we were able to check in so early which saved so much time. Throughout our whole stay nothing was too much trouble, all the staff were really friendly, helpful and very laid back. Our room was at the front which made it a little noisy at times but when you consider the location that's no surprise. And since we were on the sixth floor general background noise wasn't a problem. The room was pretty spacious with a walk-in wardrobe which made a big difference. How many times in a city center hotel do you end up tripping over your suitcase? I think the only thing missing from the room was a kettle or coffee maker, but again it wasn't a problem because of all the great coffee shops nearby. I would stay at the Mayflower again evertime because its far enough from the center (where many of the homeless hang out) but near enough to be able to walk in the evening for dinner etc.

Stayed here for 3 days and the hotel is very conveniently located near Union Square near lots of restaurants and bars. The Hotel itself has breakfast as well and parking included in the price. The parking is very narrow and at times you can have issues getting in and out. The rooms are old and outdated and the ceiling fans need to be cleaned a bit.
