Looking for something different from the centrally located hotels we've stayed in previously, we looked for a B and B in a new neighborhood. We could not believe our luck when we arrived at a beautifully restored Victorian house in a lively and charming neighborhood filled with boutiques and great restaurants! The house is a treasure chest of wonderful art,...

First time visiting San Francisco, decided to stay at the Parsonage. We arrived late Tuesday evening, and Joan greeted us at the door. We were given a quick tour, as she knew we must have been tired from our 5 hour flight from Michigan. It was wonderful that Joan and John, the innkeepers, had a "therapy dog" named Carson, a...

We were looking for a welcoming non-hotel lodging for visits to famiy, and weren't interested in airbnb. We happened upon the parsonage through a google map search and are delighted to say that we have found our new home away from home. Joan and John are wonderful hosts, breakfasts are delicious and their home is exquisite. The only challenge is...

We've been coming here for a few years now and The Parsonage became our west coast home. It's truly THE best place to stay in San Francisco. They have an incredible breakfast, the most comfortable beds, a fantastic taste in furniture, a practical way of handling everything and the most amazing people. Also the location couldn't be better because it...

My visit to the Parsonage was a last minute surprise versus staying in a hotel in the business district. It is located a few blocks off of the trolley and only few miles from downtown. It is also walking distance to fine dining areas and other shops. The staff and the dog "Mr. Carson" was very warm, accommodating and helpful...

Amazing house. Amazing hosts. Amazing breakfasts. If you want a home away from home in San Francisco, look no further than The Parsonage. John and Joan and keep an absolutely beautiful traditional 4 level house in the Hayes Valley. There hospitality is second to none and I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

It was obvious, when arriving it was clear: Helpful and always friendly host. Lovely Interior. Great Location, nearby the Center and the Mission District - worthwhile for Shopping and enjoying the People on the Street.

Where to begin? I called Joan on Saturday (planning to arrive on Sunday). She manages to "move some things around" so that my daughter and I can have a convenient location while apartment hunting for her SF move. We are greeted warmly by Joan who shows us the first floor common areas and then escorts us up to our 3rd...

I can't even begin to describe how incredibly amazing our stay at The Parsonage was. Joan and John were incredible hosts, and they have the cutest little pup, Carson, who made my trip even more memorable. Our room was on the third floor with a beautiful view. Our beds perfectly comfortable, and the bathroom amazing with a gorgeous skylight above...

My wife and I were in town to celebrate our anniversary. We always prefer to stay in a local establishment to help us get a better feel for the city we are in. The Parsonage is by far one of the best experiences we have had traveling. Joan and John are wonderful hosts. They have been in San Francisco for...

Dear Peter and Tammy, Thanks so much for your kind words. It was our pleasure to host your Anniversary jaunt to San Francisco, remind us to give you some of our Sour Dough Starter to take home, the next time you visit. That way you can have a pancake whenever you start to miss us. Carson says Woof!

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighbourhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
