My child was receiving medical care at nearby UCSF. this hotel was within walking distance or a very inexpensive Uber ride. I was lucky to get room 301. It's an entire apartment with charming details such as pocket doors and other architectural details reflecting its past. Bathroom is modern as is kitchen. A modest breakfast is served as is afternoon...

We chose the Stanyon for its location close to our relatives. The staff was friendly and courteous throughout. The room was clean . No heat in the bathroom but a heater was supplied on request and there was plenty of hot water available. This hotel is old-fashioned in a slightly run-down way. Breakfast is plentiful but not elegant. All available yoghurt...

We needed a relaxing an immediate weekend getaway after to the stressful 10 months of the toxic and divisive 2016 presidential campaign. We selected Stanyan as San Francisco is one of our favorite cities and we live in Sacramento. It's perfectly located near the Golden Gate Park, fun restaurants, parking is easy right across the street in a paid parking...

Hotel was restored in 1983 and it needs it again. I mean that was 33 years ago!!! No water pressure in shower. Planned two night stay but only stayed one night. Staff did not penalize me for one night stay, but they considered it. Breakfast was complimentary and it was average.

This quaint hotel is right in the middle of everything we wanted to visit. No frills, but very comfortable older inn. We enjoyed the free breakfast very much. It was a bit pricey, but for San Fransisco in general it seemed like a very good price.

Had an appointment at UCSF Medical Center-Parnassus campus and wanted a place to stay nearby. We were delighted to find such a clean, attractive property and even more delighted upon seeing our spacious, well decorated room. The hotel staff is friendly and accommodating. This became critical when, upon arriving back at home in Reno, we discovered I had left my...

Stanyan Park Hotel is an extremely nice small boutique hotel located across the street from Golden Gate Park in the Haight Ashbury section of San Francisco. It is a lovely Victorian building centrally located for that part of SF. It is within walking distance of the de Young Museum and the Steinhart Aquarium as well as the Richmond District and...

Finding places to stay in San Francisco can be difficult, especially "off the beaten track" at bit. We were visiting our daughter in Cole Valley/Haight and this was one of the only options we found. And what a find! Yes the rooms are slightly dated, but they are large enough, very clean, great views! The rooms are very quiet and...

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighbourhood Profile
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
