Got a good rate via hotelTonight.com. The rooms are small but modern and nicely appointed. Centrally located to Union Square and the breakfast included in the room rate adds to the overall value. Noise (including sexual Olympics of romantic neighbours) is hit or miss and the average guest age is young, so go figure. Fun place n

Mystic By Charlie Palmer in a Stockton room was a fantastic 9.5/10 stay. I was going for 10/10 BUT lost 1/4 point for ONLY ONE LIFT so be patient or take stairs & lost another 1/4 point for not having in room coffee making facilities!!! Concerge on afternoon shift could not do enough for us making our stay considerably more...

We stayed 1 night for my birthday in September. From the start, everyone on the staff went above the level of excellent to make our stay memorable. From checking our luggage in early to calling a taxi to whisk us to a afternoon Giants game (which they won!), they were spot on and attended to our every need. When we...

I stayed 5 nights for a conference and the Mystic was great. The room was great. The included breakfast was awesome. The entire front desk staff is super friendly and very helpful. I will be back the next time I visit San Francisco!

I spent 4 nights in the Mystic recently and would highly recommend it for a short stay in San Francisco. It's not without it's flaws; slow elevator and weak wifi but overall it was a really charming place to stay. The staff were extremely friendly, particularly Stacey on the front desk. We stayed in a suite (booked early and got...

Nothing wrong with the place but this was our first experience with a boutique hotel - the location in Union Square was good, the staff was nice and the complimentary breakfast was better than expected. And I know that boutique usually means smaller, European style rooms, but you don't realize how small until you and your wife are tripping over...

There was lots to like about this hotel, and I'd give it a 5 except for a few small inconveniences. Our room was on the 6th floor, there was noise from some large building fans outside but nothing that ever kept us awake. The place reminded me a bit of a European hotel: small elevator, small rooms. It was reasonably...

We were very happy with our choice of Mystic Hotel. Some of the reviews were mixed, but the convenience of its location, the complimentary breakfast, and the included WiFi made it a good choice for us. Let's face it - San Francisco is a pricey place, and although this place is pretty pricey for the size of the room and...

This is an extremely nice, old school hotel that has been modernized. Very very nice rooms, but remember, your paying the big bucks for it. This is located minutes away from Union Square, so extremely convenient. Breakfast served was delicious and had a good variety. Checking in at the counter took a while, they told us to wait 5 min...

I love reading TA reviews. I have particularly enjoyed reading the ones tonight about Mystic Hotel since we just left there yesterday. I immediately recognized the desk staff (and learned their names in the process). We too appreciated the kindness of the day desk person. She was warm down to earth, and very helpful. The evening person was exactly as...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mystic Hotel Union Square San Francisco by Charlie Palmer is a smart, sleek retreat situated in the heart of the city's busiest neighborhoods. Conveniently located just one block from the iconic cable car line in the middle of three key destinations – Union Square, Chinatown and the Financial District — Mystic Hotel offers a convenient, comfortable and unique modern boutique hotel experience in a historic location. With a contemporary look and feel, our accommodations are designed to reflect the changing need of today's traveler. Enjoy high-touch service and an ideal Union Square location, perfect for travelers looking to experience all the adventures of San Francisco. Like a private club, enjoy handcrafted cocktails in the Burritt Room, the intimate film noir-inspired bar named for Burritt Alley, where detective Sam Spade's partner Miles Archer was gunned down in The Maltese Falcon. Then, step into the speakeasy vibe of renowned Chef Charlie Palmer’s adjoining Burritt Tavern, where walled-in and curtained booths create dark corners for private conversations and Executive Chef Luke Knox turns out classic food like steaks and chops done right. Knox also takes advantage of Bay area's tremendous green markets as well as the extraordinary offerings from local food artisans in menus built around prized regional specialties from Dungeness crab to West Coast oysters. That's what we like about San Francisco: it's up to the minute and still in the moment. ... more   less
