We stayed a couple of nights and the best thing about his hotel is the location. It is walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, and it has great views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. The staff was pleasant and breakfast was very nice. Our room was on the top(11th) floor, so it had the best view outside, but... More

Did an overnight in the city and could have stayed here for a few days. Had a bayside room on the 10th floor with fantastic view - Golden Gate, Alcatraz and Treasure Island. Pretty to see the lights and night and watch the sailboats and ferries by day. Spent an extra hour before noon check-out time sipping coffee and taking... More

The hotel is nicely located near the Fishermans Wharf and the beginning of the street cable car. Especially when you have ply a short time to stay in SF. We walked down in about 10 minutes. After checking in we got a small room with one queen bed, on the even numbered side of the hotel. No view except for... More

The room smelled musty. The furniture was shabby. The heater was loud at night. We found on street parking and saved ourselves the hotel fee of $26 to park in their garage underground. We were on the second floor, so our view of the golden gate bridge was obscured by the trees, but you could see a small potion of... More

We stayed here in Nov/2012. Although the hotel is dated, it is clean and the staff is very friendly. Breakfast was good. Price was reasonable for the location (close to FW & downtown). Bus route just outside as well as the Hop on Hop off buses. This is a very busy hotel and everyone seemed to be enjoying their stay.

So the hotel was in a reasonable place (walking distance of the "ZigZag" bit of Lombard St and Pier 39) - breakfast was ok - lack of vending machines (one which wasn't working properly for 11 floors!) We didn't pay the extra for a bay view. The room was comfortable, the staff were quite helpful. From three hotels we stayed... More

Stayed 5 nights at this hotel. Renovations were taking place, so unfortunately we couldn't have a room with a view, instead we were jammed up against the back of an apartment building. That was a bit disappointing. Our room was one that had not yet been renovated, so it was pretty drab. But we didn't spend any amount of time... More

We had a 2 night stay, bit disappointed as the rooms were a bit dark and had a 1970's dated look. No view and as we had booked and paid 10 months earlier disappointed in the rooms allocated. Breakfast was only adequate and desk staff were helpful and friendly. If you need parking, it is available, but you are charged... More

We loved our stay here. It is definitely worth paying the extra money for a bay side view. Seeing the Golden Gate Bridge made our stay extra special. It's within easy walking distance of Fisherman's wharf and there are frequent buses to the downtown area. I would describe the free breakfast as adequate if it wasn't for the waffles which... More

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
