Couldn't have asked for a cuter hotel with awesome service and very comfortable. Loved the French feel.. Close to the famous cable car and all that Union Square has to offer. Complimentary breakfast was a great way to start the day.

Upon entering this beautiful and incredibly charming hotel, we left the hustle and bustle of San Francisco just a few steps behind, let out our breath, and began a four-day stay during which we felt pampered by the friendly and super helpful staff. The room was lovely, with vintage decor and an authentic claw-foot tub, the hotel was immaculate, and...

Cornell Hotel de France was an absolute delight! So quaint, beautifully decorated. The hotel is immaculate, all the comforts you could want. I really enjoyed the little tea room they have set up where you can get tea and coffee free of charge. There is a lovely parlour near the front where you can curl up and read a book...

This was our first visit to San Francisco and we choose this hotel as it looked unique and would offer a personal service as opposed to being in an impersonal chain hotel. On checking in;we had a minor problem with the absence of a safe in our room but this was quickly rectified by Frank the Manager. This was a...

The Cornell Hotel de France is located within easy walking distance of Union Square (downhill to get there), Chinatown, the Powell Street start of the Cable Care and the shops of Market Street. In fact, many other sites, such as the SF Museum of Asian Art and City Hall, are a convenient walk away. This charming Hotel serves a full...

The hotel is conveniently located to Union Square. The free breakfast is very good. Your choice of eggs with hash browns, bacon and toast or french toast or pancakes. Service was good, very eager to please. It is quite old and the rooms are very small. Our room looked out to a brick wall ( deluxe queen). It also was...

I have to admit to a small surprise when I learned the high prices of hotels in San Francisco. Granted it had been 20 years since I was last there. So, in choosing a three star hotel for a two night getaway stay, I was cognizant of the price as well as the reviews. We hit the jackpot with Cornell....

Just steps from the Powell Street cable car, very near Union Square/the shopping district, location is excellent. That said, the walk up that steep hill is challenging so I paid the $7 just to ride the cable car up the hill at the end of the day. This is clearly an old hotel with various retro-fixing to modernize. Don't even...

Dear Jane Cutler, Thank you for some good words that you wrote about us and posted on Trip Advisor. Yes, our small Victorian Cornell Hotel cannot compare with the soulless big establishments. Our elevator can easily hold seven persons (permit available). We limited the number to four in order to protect the inside decorations of what is considered by many...
