We visited the Cornell Hotel for one evening. It was very quaint and interesting hotel. It was about half the price of most SF hotels. Rooms were rather small, but very clean. No a/c which would likely be an issue in the warm weather. People...More
This place just keeps getting better. Since my visit last year, they have added electronic entry for better overall hotel security, 24 hours a day. In the rooms they have switched to a very nice set of lotions, shampoo, and conditioners. The gradual update from...More

We stayed here for our last night in the bay area and everything was excellent. It is a charming place with the most beautiful handprinted murals all over the hotel and French decor. Our adult son was in another room and both rooms were very...More

Dear M S,
Thank you very much for your nice, much detailed review of our small Cornell Hotel
de France, and your generous four- star rating (in spite of the lack of ventilation). We

Originally home to rallies supporting the Union Army in the Civil War, this grand square has become the city's premier shopping and entertainment district containing the largest number of upscale department stores, chic boutiques, art galleries and theatres in the city. It's a large open area where tourists and locals gather, watch cable cars and crowds go by, enjoy a snack, or plan their day of shopping and
sightseeing, If feeling the pulsating energy of the city is on your agenda, Union Square is the place to soak it in.
