The room was scary and not remodeled. I stayed because it was cheap, in a great location and I had no plans to do anything but put my things down and lay my head there. I will never stay there again. The owner was kind however. I got what PRICELINE paid for...last time I let them 'negotiate' for me.

Getting here from the airport via the underground wasn't easy as it's up hill most of the way and with suitcases...not good! Check in was quick and easy. The room was not the greatest, it was actually really small and at the back of the hotel, the view was a wall from a neighboring building but as stated in the...

I'm stunned at some of the reviews on this place. I don't know why people think they can pay well under $100 a night, right in the heart of a great city, in a safe and accessible neighborhood, and still get all mod cons. The Grant Plaza is exactly what we wanted. A place to sleep and store our luggage....

My 3rd trip to CA..stayed on the 6th floor - deluxe room double, spacious for 2; clean and reasonable. Staff excellent. Still the cheapest rates and convenient to Bart, Market Street and best of all Chinatown. Merchants on Stockton Street, a block away, had some new Dim Sum restaurants and "locals" shop and eat here. Many bakeries selling great deserts...

the space is just enough for two paople, however I was told tha the room has iron but I was looking for it and there was none. I also feel that there are bed bags because I kept scratching almost the whole night. The temperature inside the room is good. We were hoping that there are at least light meals...

We booked this hotel through the blind booking process in Travelocity. We were glad to see that the reviews were not terrible once we found out the name of the hotel. As many others said the rooms are tiny, the bathrooms (private bathrooms) have been renovated and the beds are really uncomfortable, but the location is great and you have...

With this price you can get better location, better room, and much better overall experience. The elevator is very strange and old, the location is good is the middle of China town, but it is on top of a small hill, so it needs more efforts. Small room, cleanness is average, and the staff were OK.

Purchased a vacation package on Priceline and this was the hotel that it chose. Only the bare necessities, i.e. bed, sink, shower and TV. I knew what to expect based on the reviews so it helped to not come with expectations. Actually it's better if you first view it in the daylight...seriously. Location is great - sandwiched between the financial...

Expectations, expectations. We were told that San Francisco hotel rooms are rather small. This comes with no exception. If you are just looking for a place to stay with the day constantly outside, this hotel is rather comfortable and also in a really prized location in Chinatown. Nothing extraordinary happened but we did have a very good night's rest.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
