This place is like an updated 1960s California motel, complete with orange and turquoise doors facing a cute small swimming pool in the courtyard, all in the middle of San Francisco. Admittedly it's in the sketchy Tenderloin which means you'll be passing hordes of homeless people to get to/from here if you're on foot. Rooms seem to have been nicely...

Stayed here with my daughter for 3 nights in early February. People at the hotel were great - friendly, great suggestions for activities, and very responsive. The room was plenty large enough for the two of us, and quite comfortable. The free parking is a huge savings. Somewhat long but do-able walk to Union Square and the cable cars (15...

Safe while on the property. Would not venture out for a stroll past 5pm. San Francisco has lots of homeless residents and they are everywhere. Better to eat before you check into your room for the night.

We selected the Phoenix because we had tickets to attend the SF Jazz Annual Gala. Convenient location. We were delighted with all that it had to offer, especially for the reasonable price. Consider: Free parking, free wifi, free breakfast all included. Spacious, quiet and comfortable room. Neat court yard and pool area. We were impressed with the hotel's restaurant and...

Great place, right in heart of town, not too expensive and plenty of car parking, great for those touring as we left car there for 2 days without using it, or paying for parking Staff are great, all of them, and they helped us out gave us tips etc. The breakfast is just a self serve coffee and cake, but...

Staying at The Phoenix has become in itself part of my trips to San Francisco. I love the place. I've been staying there for ten years. I love not having to pay for parking. Chambers is great, and I also really enjoy Emperor Norton's Boozeland, which is just across Larkin. Plenty of other nearby options for eats and drinks. I...

Most enjoyable stay I have ever had in the city! I read a lot of people complaining about the neighborhood! I love the tenderloin! It is authentic and exciting! After hanging out around there, it made the rest of the city seem boring, well except for the mission! The folks at the hotel are so accomodating and friendly!! The pool...

We spent 4 days out of a three week driving holiday here. I travel for work a lot, but out of all the places I have stayed I have never met more friendly and accommodating (and totally laid back) staff. Like the hotel they are characterful and cheery in a not so salubrious area of the city. It is the...

It's a fun motel. In the tenderloin. People go there to party. And drink. And hit on girls in the pool. Food good too. It's a basic motel. But it's rock and roll man. Like Starship or Dio. Make a reservation

The Phoenix inn is the only place I will ever stay in SanFrancisco. The rooms, the restaurant and bar, the vibrant cultural atmosphere, the pool, the patio, sitting at my little outdoor table, the outdoor coffee, fruit and pastries every morning. But mostly the people. Every single person on the hotel staff and in the restaurant is thoughtful, caring and...
