Barely left the hotel. Did some Sam Fran sightseeing but since we only had 2-3 days we really enjoyed the hotel. The decorations. The people watching. The restaurant and bar. Wonderful staff. Had a great room with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Will definitely return one day.

HOTEL’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

I was in San Francisco last month for a wedding which was held at the Fairmont and I stayed there for a couple of nights. What an amazing hotel! It looks a picture, both the exterior and inside, particularly the lobby, and the rooms are very comfortable (which is the key thing with a hotel, I guess!). Also, the location...

Thank you for your very kind words about the hotel. We're thrilled to hear you had such a nice visit and that you appreciated the grandeur of the property. While we are located only four blocks away from Union Square, we are miles away from the hustle and bustle of the area. Thanks again for your kind words and we...

My wife & I decided to splurge a bit and stay at a 5 star hotel for our recent trip to SF, and we're so glad we did. The Fairmont was across the board excellent. The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful, the decor was fabulously elegant but not fussy the way some fancy places can be. The rooms are...

First - my rating is 4.75! The location of the hotel is away from the Union Square. After seeing how busy the Union Square area is, I am glad we picked this hotel. Going up the hill to the hotel is an experience in itself. The hotel is historic and majestic. It may not be surrounded by restaurants and retail...

This is a truly grand hotel. The rooms are quite lovely, But the hotel does not know anything about serving customers. Everything was great until we actually arrived and then whatever could be done wrong was. No help with the luggage on arrival or departure and also the hotel does not really know how to correct mistakes. Very disappointing. Also...

I stayed at the Fairmont last Sunday and generally it was a pleasant stay. A beautiful lobby, a small but comfortable room and very helpful concierge staff were all positives. But how in this day and age an expensive hotel like the Fairmont can charge $13.95 for Internet access is inconceivable to me. I didn't choose to stay there but...

We were 2 couples and were asked if we would like the option to upgrade our room for an extra $40 a night. Our friends did and the views of San Fran were amazing so we would sit in their room after we'd been out and take in the views. Our room looked over the air con! On our last...

The property is high on the hill in the centre of the city. A beautiful old hotel with beautiful views in any direction. The room we had was on the 19th floor and was comfortable with a bed like clouds. Yes, it is roughly the price of fine jewels but well worth the treat. I hate to be negative about...

Thank you for your kind words about the hotel. I'm pleased to hear you had such a nice stay and appreciated our location atop Nob Hill. As you mentioned, it offers some of the most stunning views of the City and Bay and it sounds like you agree. I am sorry for the slowness of service you received in the...

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent experience at the bar. I am very sorry to hear of the slowness of service and can appreciate the frustration that caused. Hopefully you were able to speak to a manager while you were on property. Thank you for your feedback and I apologize again for the poor experience....

Our family of five had trouble finding appropriate accommodations as many SF hotels seemed to offer rooms with 2 doubles or 1 queen and limit pull out couch options. The Fairmont offered a massive room with 2 queens and pullout couch - possibly the largest room I have ever stayed in. The room was just what we needed and it...

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
