We are world travelers and have been fortunate enough to stay in many other high end hotels, including other Ritz Carltons. This SF property is lovely and well kept. The location is very good, but beware that it is in an area of SF with many steep hills, so it is not a very walkable area if you have any physical restrictions. Perhaps what sets this hotel apart from other similar properties is the exceptional service. From the moment we drove up until we checked out and drove away we felt welcomed and appreciated. There was not a single employee who was not pleasant, helpful, and knowledgable. We had the kind of service one would expect from a luxury property, but that is often lacking. We were not disappointed in any aspect of our stay, We were in a 1 bedroom suite that had access to the club floor. Our suite was spacious and comfortable, and it was cleaned daily ( not typical since Covid). Anything we requested was promptly taken care of. The Club floor food/drink and service was outstanding, a definite bonus to our time there. Yes, it is pricey, but in the case of this hotel you get your money's worth.

We spent 2 nights at the Ritz in SF over Thanksgiving 2021. Service: excellent. Location: excellent. The lobby feels austere, though simple; old school and a bit posh but definitely elegant. The hotel is in great shape. (Although one hallway off the main lobby to the rooms had some work being done). We had good food while we were there (in the main bar for pre-dinner and after dinner drinks and snacks - usually before going out on the town), and they were all good. The rooms are what matter the most here though, and they're great. Our king overlooking the city view was sizable. Enough room for a desk/chair, and lounge chair, as well as cabinets for clothes and fridge (nothing in it though, because of Covid). The bathrooms were large - 2 sinks and the fixtures were all high quality. Our family of 18 stayed in 7 rooms and we all felt the rooms were done up nicely -not just looking nice but solid, with the right added touches. The rooms were very quiet at night and the bed super comfortable. Strangely, I had never stayed at a Ritz prior to this. I've stayed in many hotels though, and now, as a Marriott points guy, I think I'm going to be considering Ritz hotels more often.

From start to finish it was another great stay. Check-in was a bit chaotic as we were checking out of another property and into the Ritz right at 3:30-4PM. We booked a club level king, and were hopeful that they would handle the check—in formalities at the club level but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Bellmen were very quick to bring the large amount of luggage to our room and did a great job arranging the bags. The room on the with floor was a great size for SanFrancisco, with plenty of natural light and a well appointed bathroom. The club lounge is one of the many reasons we choose this property. From my experience this is one of the largest clubs in the USA. The 8th and 9th floors are club level floors and there is a staircase behind the club concierge that connects the two floors. The lounge is comprised of two rooms, one that has the food and drink while the other is seating. We found the club concierge’s hit or miss at times. A simple request on the day before checkout for an hour late checkout was met with the response that I should speak to the front desk on the day of checkout. While later that afternoon, Jordan at the front desk honored our late checkout request the day before our departure. I think part of the problem was they didn’t have enough staff in the club lounge. There were only two servers for two rooms with duties that included making special drink requests, refilling food and beverage displays, bussing tables, and making pleasantries with guests. The one club concierge spent most of their time stepping in to help out the servers, and they only work limited hours. Food and drink was generally excellent and the food offerings varied each day. Mini beef wellingtons were delicious, as were the beef rigatoni with pasta, and prosciutto flatbreads. There is also jars of candies for adults and children alike. One club concierge stood out as amazing is Rudy. He was pulling double duty as a server and concierge on the night we met him and ever since our first introduction he remembered my wife and I by name. His wealth of knowledge about San Francisco and the surrounding area was incredible. His dining recommendations in both San Francisco and Sausalito were spot on and delicious. Rudy even knew that if we got the Clipper card for transit in SF that we got 50% taking the ferry from the Ferry Building to Sausalito. Any area that we wanted to visit Rudy had multiple dining and activity recommendations. His sushi recommendation (Pabu Izakaya) on our final night was out of this world. The gym at the hotel we felt was not large enough for the amount of rooms, but if you’re in SF so just go outside and walk those hills! The courtyard looked beautiful for a drink, but unfortunately there were private events when we were there. Service from housekeeping and the front desk was very responsive, as we had an incident our first night where when we returned from dinner it appeared as if there was some blood on the door frame to our bathroom, not sure if it was from turndown or something else. From the second I notified Jordan at the front desk, he had Josh the front desk manager there to address my concerns and he came up to our room with housekeeping and they disinfected the entire area with a disinfectant spray. We spend a good amount of time in SF and the Ritz is and continues to be our preferred hotel. We always prefer the club level when available and not significantly more than the other options. You really don’t realize how much extra value the club provides, with five different food and beverage services a day you could really never leave (and from what we saw some did not). The location is perfect, where everything is walkable as long as you don’t mind a lot of hills. Thank you Rudy, Jordan and Josh for a great stay, we’ll be back soon!

Arrived and was immediately impressed with the level of service an graciousness from the entire team. Check in was smooth, and we were pleasantly surprised that there was a wine tasting experience onsite, plus a standard bar and breakfast location. Drinks and food were expensive - around $20 a cocktail, and $30 for the main however they were high quality. There was also a female server (Filipino lady I think who was excellent). The room was fairly big and bed comfortable. Had a mini fridge (not stocked), espresso machine and other basic items. The only reason I am giving this a 4 star instead of a 5 is I found a hair in the bathroom upon arrival. The concierge and bell men were very helpful, sharing useful tips and providing transportation on occasions where getting a taxi was difficult.
