Location was a bit out of the way, which was okay with my husband and I. There was construction going on, which we knew (although much louder and more intrusive then expected). So none of those factor into the review. Our windows faced into the courtyard where the construction was happing, annoying. We booked a King, ended with a double,...

This hotel is centrally located and close to shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel was used as a filming location in Hitchcock’s film Vertigo when it was known as The Empire Hotel. The hotel neighbourhood is generally safe but I avoided going too far to the areas west or south of the hotel at night. East along Sutter Street (towards...

I was here about 18 months ago, and returned for a one-night stay. Same excellent desk service, with the gregarious and intelligent Gregory at the helm. I arrived early, around 11:00, and intended to check a bag until 3:00. Gregory put me immediately into an available room. He's also very informed of the area and can refer one to just...

Area a tiny bit scary as off the main beaten path, but the venue itself is phenomenal for Classic Movie buffs! Hotel Vertigo is kitschy and cool! The lobby is something to see in itself. Couple of complaints, it was 90 degrees outside and no A/C. Also, no ice as exercise room was under construction and unfortunately, the construction workers...

Loved the quirky character of the hotel, they've done a good job at updating it yet still leaving some of the unique characteristics of an older building. Lobby is great! Stayed here for a week and was ok but would unlikely stay again. Room size is reasonable and bed is comfortable.
