Great location but stayed here for 6 nights, first night saw a bedbug in the bed and got changed to a new room. Home again a week later and am covered in bedbug bites. Beds were rock hard in both rooms and in the second room headboard was so squeaky you couldn't twitch without being woken up.

Blimey... This was our stay for half of a stint in this beautiful city. It is in a fantastic location (right by the gates of Chinatown), the staff are undeniably polite and well-meaning and the prices makes this affordable for such a good location. If that's all you want, it may work for you. However, there were many problems. An...

I wish I could go zero stars. I had a booking through hotels.com which was canceled in favor of a different hotel. Hotel Astoria STILL charged my credit card and all attempts to resolve the situation have failed. I cannot believe a business would do this in good conscience. I'm furious and would recommend against anyone staying here.

Hotel does not communicate well - emailed 3-4 times & called numerous times to inform of flight delays and did not recieve any confirmation back. The elevator was broken so I had to drag a heavy suitcase up 5 flights of stairs - Common room was also down for maintenance which had the benefit of everyone getting free wifi in...

We didnt book The Astoria for cream teas, chocolates left on your pillow and L'Occitane toiletries. We booked it because of its central location and it was half the price of the next hotel in the area. All of the negative comments reported are true, but TBH. as we walked through the door of the room all we could do...

The hotel was undergoing an upgrade when we stayed and we were put in a new room which was really modern with a great bathroom. The location was perfect and so central for everything. It isn't the Hilton but would give the travelodge a run for its money that's for sure! In a city that is very expensive for hotels...

I travelled in Laos, Vietnam and North Thailand in very rustic hotels but I NEVER and I say NEVER moved hotel. Here I had to move hotel after one night as after seeing hair in the bed, stains in the carpet and dirt in bathroom! They gave us money back which was nice but I guess they realise themselves how...

Listen, I've got strange and varied standards when traveling. Love good food and entertainment and will pay for them. I fly first because coach blows beyond comprehension. I travel over most of the USA, and the brutally priced metros of the west coast are always a tough one to find cheap lodging. Now, my standards are simple. Clean linen, clean...

I have never been so upset with a hotel. AVOID this hotel. They cancelled our reservation after we clearly got a confirmation. Our family of four (two little kids aged 4 and 7) arrived at this hotel late due to a delay in our flight from LA). We called the hotel and left a message early in the day telling...

They cancelled my reservation (which had been confirmed) without calling me or emailing me. Not professionnal. Just find another safer place to deal with. Avoid it. Non fiable et imprévisible. pas très agréable poiur des vacances sereines comme chacun peut les souhaiter. Evitez cette adresse si vous pouvez.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
