This place is great. We came to visit family and Charlestown casino and had a wonderful experience at the hotel. The room was clean even my OCD girlfriend who always complains loved it ! The connecting White Horse tavern has a quick friendly and efficient staff and the food is terrific. The mini rueben sandwich are a hit and the steak was cooked perfectly. The crab dip has the perfect flavor but mixed more than I like.Dalton our evening bartender and afternoon waiter was really on the ball. The pool was open and we were the only ones who used it . We we startled by the cleaning lady who was disinfecting the area as we entered. I tried the slot machines in the bar twice and won both times! We will definitely stay here again when we come back to visit the money I lost at the Hollywood casino! Lol! They also have canoe rentals and plenty of hiking trails nearby, but we weren’t that ambitious as it was too cold for us, but a good idea for the spring. The whole staff did a stellar job . Thanks again.…
Wonderful stay! Melody and Jackie were very accommodating and friendly! They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Clean rooms! Great view and location! Just a hop to the town of harpers ferry.
Excellent customer service, friendly staff, clean rooms and overall great experience. Live music with fire right next door on Saturday. 1.5 miles from Historic Harpers Ferry. Great location. Lots of activities to do.
We stayed just one night on 9/15, and had traveled just shy of 500 miles so we were too tired to care enough to leave or ask for a different room. Even through my mask, as soon as I opened the door to our room I was smacked in the face with an extremely musty smell. Everything appeared fairly standard. The photography on the walls was pretty. The in-room refrigerator was large for the accommodation which was a contributing factor to my 3-star rating. It allowed me to refreeze our ice packs and cool all of our beverages for the following day. The very first thing my husband does when we enter a hotel room is adjust the thermostat. We like a chilly hotel room. It helps us sleep better and somehow makes it feel fresher. This AC worked, but it didn't work well. Admittedly, by most travelers' opinions, the room was probably cool enough, but it was too warm for either of us. (Alternatively the hotel we stayed in the next night in Petersburg, VA, the AC was able to make us too cold.) The grout in the bathroom floor tile was atrocious. Definitely needs some bleach. The shower itself was clean, but the basin of the tub was horribly uneven. If you aren't incredibly mindful of your footing, it would be easy to fall. And while I've never allowed the hotel's toiletries to matter much, the shampoo smelled like it belonged in a hospital or prison. I was cursing myself in the shower for forgetting to bring my own, because I could feel how drying it was to my hair while I lathered up. My hair is very long and I had to reserve some shampoo/conditioner for my husband and the bottle was very tiny. Now I wish I hadn't washed my hair at all because it has fried my hair and I'm still trying to brush out the knots. I wholeheartedly implore you, dear reader, do not use the provided shampoo. Bring your own or just skip washing your hair. The mattress was a bit rough to find a comfortable spot, but I expect that with hotels. I don't know why hotels use such small pillows for king beds, but it annoys me. I must say, though, the lady at the front desk was very nice. To summarize, here are the pros: —Lovely staff —Easy to find/nice location —Attractive lobby —Onsite tavern (we didn't use it) —The larger in-room refrigerator (has good freezer capacity) —Despite COVID, they have a great selection for grab-and-go breakfast Cons: —Our room had a really strong musty odor upon entering —Shower basin was difficult to stand in —Toiletries smelled like they were from a hospital or prison and ruined my hair —Subpar air conditioner Would we stay again? To be honest, we didn't plan our trip into Harpers Ferry very well. We'd had alternative plans that had to be changed sort of last minute so we didn't get to explore Harpers Ferry at all, so we do plan on coming back. I'd say we are 100% not likely to book this hotel again, but the staff really was very nice and that helps. I'm sure if we'd had more energy and wanted to ask for a room that smelled better or had better AC they would've tried to accommodate. But I swear upon all that is of value in my life I will never use their toiletries again. Ever.…
Facilities are good but not great. The management and employees are great. On a recent trip they shuttled us to and from trail and were super pleasant to us. The hotel offers many amenities for travelers and families.
