Spent 2 nights at the Sluice Box during Late Sept 2021, It was my first visit back to Nome in many years, and was anxious to see how the town has changed over the years. I made reservations for Dredge #7 and checked in at main office instead of directly at the Sluice Box, but that was my fault, i didn't read the directions correctly, and they sent somebody to take me a mile back into town to the Sluice Box. But once settled in I was very pleased with the room Nice clean bathroom, comfortable bed, HDTV with lots of local and Alaska channels, Nice desk and table for laptop, and Excellent WIFI. It's a great place for exploring Nome, I didn't rent a car; I will next time, but easy walk to Front Street and the surprisingly good restaurants, as well as some of Nome's notorious saloons. I had a great time, and definitely recommend Dredge # 7, and if you want to be close to town, try for Sluice Box. Prices weren't cheap, but then, this is Nome, and considering the limitations, you really do get a good deal. And staff was very friendly and kept the place in really good shape. Definitely recommended

We stayed in the Sluce Box which is one part of the Dredge 7 and found it to be comfortable and beyond what we expected. Each room there is different but I believe the “Big Hurrah” was the largest and that was our room. The room was very spacious with a cooktop, fridge and a kitchen sink. The car rental is at the main building which is 1-2 miles away but after calling them they allowed us to leave the car at the Sluce Box to avoid the taxi or a cold walk. The Sluce Box looked to be was furnished like a turn-of-the-century boarding house. Kudos to Dredge 7 for their attention to details. A coincidence is the piece of steel on the balcony; I am from a town really close to Joliet, Illinois. Bonus: Try eating at Pingo. It is tiny but the halibut fish and chips can’t be beat. Oh, did I mention the danishes? Really good.

Our group stayed at the main inn that was decorated with baskets of artificial flowers. Room One was very quaint with lace tablecloth and curtains. The beds jiggled slightly when sat/laid on and comfortable enough, but not regular mattresses. The shower stall was tiny and similar to other older Alaskan B&Bs. I liked the ambiance of the hotel very much and would stay again.

I come to Nome about once a year on business. This was my first stay at the Dredge 7 Sluicebox. I will be back! Very comfortable room, bed was very comfy with warm, flannel sheets, slept like a log! Very quiet, easy early check in was available. Easy walk to Front St. restaurants, etc. Wi-fi signal was great, no issues. Stayed in Lucky Strike room. Private bath and kitchenette. Perfect!

Very comfortable, and service was fabulous. Issue with coffee pot and replaced with a brand new one. Quiet, and Musk ox walk through the parking lot. Unit with 2 separate bedrooms for 2 different guests that share kitchen and common area. Camera on ceiling not noticed until day 2, only time I have ever seen this, thought it was weird and discussed with the woman in charge.

Thank you so much for your feedback and review. Nome certainly is a unique town to have our own herds of Musk Ox come by to visit us. So glad you were able to experience it! Dredge No. 7 Inn values our customers greatly and security is very important to us. As in any hotel, cameras are in the lobbies, hallways and commons areas. Of course, there are no cameras ever in rooms, as our customers privacy is protected.
