We drove in a hire car from Christchurch airport and the place itself is basically in the sticks, in a positive way. We were met at the entrance to the house and shown around this well preserved and very grand house whilst our luggage and car were looked after. Pre dinner drinks were at 6.30pm and we arrived promptly to... More

We visited here in Dec 2014 and returned here in January 2016 to find that the high standards had been maintained, nay improved. Flying in by helicopter we could see the pristine white paint on the gables of the house from several miles away. From the moment of touchdown to the last wave goodbye the entire team here know just... More

This is our second stay in what is one of the best hotels in the world. Four days of impeccable service and unparalleled attention to detail in this beautiful building, one of the most ancient in the country but restored to perfection by Miles and Hall. All the staff are incredibly friendly as they obviously enjoy and appreciate working in... More

We thoroughly enjoyed every minute at this lodge. They have experienced staff who anticipate every need. Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. Jimmy is the best chef in New Zealand. We traveled the country eating fantastic food, but this was the best by far. I will return.

Arrived on New Year's Eve, a little late because of a delayed train and we were immediately blown away by the sumptuous rooms in this classy mansion. The welcoming was warm and we soon settled into an extravagant and very delicious multi course meal with outstanding wines to match and very good company to ring in the New Year. Donna... More

Twenty minutes drive, no stress, from our home in Christchurch and we could have been a million miles away. We were met, Downton Abbey style, by three people including the owners Miles and Hall. They graciously swept our car out of sight, and us, after a short tour of the grand house by Karen, into the Sir Heaton Rhodes suite.... More

We just spent three nights - during Christmas - at Otahuna. In every respect, our experience was sublime. The rooms, the food, the service were all as good as it gets. The owners have an active presence on the premises and their attention to detail and commitment to service permeates every aspect of this jewel. We have travelled to many... More

We had the privilege of attending a wedding at Otahuna Lodge and throughout the day, the service, the surroundings, the staff and food were exceptional. This is not just a wedding venue - this is class and seamless sophistication. Those who stayed at the Lodge were even further impressed - the spacious, luxurious rooms, the breakfast......everything impressed. And Jimmy McIntyre,... More

This was our last stop on a two week trip to New Zealand. We stayed in several of the five star lodges along the way. This is truly a very special place. Miles and Hall have done a wonderful job restoring this amazing house. The staff far exceeded our expectations. Donna, Nikki and Chef Jimmy made us feel so special.... More
