Situation: My wife & I were traveling with our dog from Nashville to the outer banks. Asheville is a little under halfway there & we figured we’d stop overnight since the dog hates car rides & 10 1/2 hours is a lot to ask for most people for a weekend drive. I booked this hotel because it was the cheapest one night option that was pet friendly for medium sized dogs ($125 no pet fee). The bar was set low due to price & the fact it was one night. We get there at 4:30pm on Saturday. It’s busy. The small parking lot is crawling with people of all kinds smoking & unloading cars. Several folks are talking about the gun show they attended & coming back to stay here again in a month for the next one. The receptionist was nice enough & seemed unfazed by the HEAVY smell of cigarette smoke & marijuana percolating throughout the building. That was my first warning sign. We get to our room to drop a few bags before heading out to find dinner & notice visible mold on the ceiling in multiple spots and in a large radius in the corner. Not to mentions the surfaces of the room looked filthy. Bathroom fixtures were tarnished and dingy and the mini fridge had food residue in it. Warning number 2. Within 5 minutes we hear a couple two doors down yelling & banging on a door out in the hall. Woman is sobbing & the man is telling her to go away. It was moments away from becoming a domestic. We wait to exit our room so we don’t involuntarily enter into the situation. Warning number 3. I don’t require high end accommodations by any means but there is a bare bottom standard that should be achieved with any lodging that isn’t free. Cleanliness & safety. That’s it. This location has neither & I won’t be coming back. Save yourself some trouble & mold exposure & spend the extra money to take yourself & your pup elsewhere. I paid $240 for one night the following weekend to stay at a nice comfort inn in town & avoid this headache again. I had prepaid for one night on the return trip at the other rodeway location in town & tried to call & cancel it once I experienced this one but was told it was prepaid & I couldn’t. You get what you pay for & here you get a lot less than that.

Room was not up to standard. We got our money back for having to clean the ac units ourselves and filter when we first arrived. . It was black and caked with hair. Later on, the toilet leaked so bad we had to keep a bowl underneath no refunds for this. also no refund for the black mold we had to breathe in due to floor above us that had a flood and water leaked through floor to the ceiling above us. It began to spread , we told the clerk but nothing was done until we mentioned again to managers son, not owner. By this time the black mold had spread and covered half the ceiling. Roaches, etc, bit g ankles, dont think they ever had the place sprayed for bugs the whole time I was there around 2 months. The owner was quick to make the victim the villain upon complaints they made on another renter for harassment and robbery, damages to vehicle.

Decent, very nearly slight below average hotel. Did come across a couple bugs immediately, but overall clean room, clean linen, etc. One thing I noticed was that the rooms are a little outdated and need to be updated in my opinion. So basically, if you only want to shell out 40-60 a night, this hotel’s quality is what you would pretty much expect. Last thing, if given the choice, definitely go with this location over the candler location. That one is just... agh. 🙅🏻‍♂️🤢

All right good place to stay if you don't mind sharing a room with cockroaches staff was unresponsive to any of our needs had to threaten to get my gun out of the car to get the noise stopped at 2 a.m. it was all quiet up until 2 a.m. staff will walk in your room even if you do have a do not disturb sign on and rifle through your stuff if you try to call down at the office don't even try you will get a busy signal had switched rooms twice and still didn't get room we had reserved reservations were made a week ahead of time the first room had a nice hot water in the toilet look like the floors hadn't been slept in weeks blankets had blood on them sheets were dirty ask for a set of towels and got dirty yellowish looking ones. Had to wait for those cuz they were supposed leak in the laundry with a hotel that is not busy. It sucks you can't upload videos I have a video of about five or six cockroaches that was in my trash can and all I put in the trash can was wet wipes to wipe the place down before I went in it our frigerator was full of cockroaches I will never stay at another Rodeway Inn

Pictures do lie! Avoid this dump at all costs. I had two rooms for myself and a staff member. His (318) had blood on a wall, floor filthy, mine same issue with filthy floor, bottom sheet was NOT fitted proper-it slid around all night and I asked Front Desk person to request a King Size sheet next night. Air conditioner filters in both rooms were clogged and had black mold on them-they ran constantly all night even after i dropped the heat down to 67. There was one working recepticle by my bed-I require a CPAP machine and had to plug my phone charger in the bathroom because the only other open recepticle would not grip my phone charge cord standard plug. The bathroom sink was cracked and dirty. There were several guests smoking dope in their rooms, and tobacco smoke permeated the building. There was a child screaming in the hall several times-sounded like he was being murdered. Back to the bed-I told Front Desk person If Cleaner did not fix sheet proper i would. It was not and I fixed it with 15 inch strips of Gorilla tape at the head, corners and sides she needs to be trained in how to properly make a bed. Never Ever again will I stay here.
