Stayed in a deluxe room and it was clean. The bed and side chair were hard as rocks and should have been replaced. A good desk and chair and an in room safe and mini fridge were welcomed. The carpet was dark brown and stained. Although it advertised breakfast, it was only at 0730 and as I was there on... More

We stayed at this hotel for 3 days. It was quite nice as far as location. I loved the ambiance of the building and the neighborhood! The room was nice, we stayed in a room with a bay window on the third floor...it was nice to look out and see the people walking about and the neighborhood. As far as... More

Location is absolutely perfect for exploring the city on foot. We booked a deluxe room on the 4th floor at rear, great size room, lovely crisp white bedding and decent size bathroom. Only issue we had during our stay was the droning noise of some kind of generator which was constant between about 6.20am to midnight each day. Think it... More

I stayed at the Newbury Guest House over the 2012 holidays during a visit with my daughter, so I traveled alone. It was a perfect location and I felt comfortable walking the area alone, both day and evening. The hotel is a lovely brownstone nestled among shops on Newbury Street and within walking distance of Boston Commons and T stops.... More

A B&B in the middle of Newbury commerical district provides a quiet retreat from the swarms of tourists and students on the street below. Surrounded by neighborhood shops, restaurants, one can still have the quiet room filled with New England sunshine. Staff is excellent, The Creperie next door provides the morning breakfast. Down the front steps outside is La Voile,... More

I wanted to be near my friend who was using points to stay in a fancy chain hotel. This fit the bill. I drove to Boston and was able to park for $20 at the hotel. My room was tiny but clean and quiet - except for the neighbors (I wore earplugs to sleep). The bed was very hard, the... More

We were very anxious but blessed to stay at the Newbury Guest House for our first visit to Boston. Living in South Africa we are fully aware of the problems with violence in society but the generosity and support from the local community was unbelieveably outstanding. The Guest House was all that we could have imagined in comfort, service and... More

Great location and super helpful staff. We stayed at Newbury just after the Marathon bombing and the staff were all helpful caring and kind. We were still there when Boston went into lockdown and it wad the day we needed to fly home to Australia. They sat on hold on our behalf for ages when the city was on lockdown,... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
