My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston right after Christmas. The Christmas decorations were lovely and festive. Our room was clean and well-appointed with a nice bathtub/shower combination and plenty of counter space. I would stay here again.
Walgreens, CVS, Starbucks, and a grocer are within 1-2 blocks of the hotel, as well as many restaurants. Although the hotel is in the financial district and in a relatively safe location, most of the stores close early at night, many before 8:00 pm, so do take that into consideration when planning nightly activities. We walked from Fanueil Hall to the hotel and did not feel unsafe, but I still recommend using caution in this area, especially if you are alone. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to Fanueil Hall and 5 minute walk to Boston Common (where the Freedom Trail tours begin).
Their is a $25 "destination fee" that includes things like wifi, cups of chowder in the restaurant, daily bottles of water, newspapers, a discount to the restaurant and some attractions, as well as a few others. We didn't get a chance to eat in the restaurant, but it looked nice. The destination fee is not worth it to me, but it might be to others. NOTE: I booked my vacation package on Weekend.com and did not realize it included the destination fee until I had already confirmed my purchase. My package listed the fee as $20, but when I checked out of the hotel, it was listed as $25. The front desk clerk was kind enough to waive the fee for me because of the discrepancy. All staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful.

I came to Boston to visit my son who is in college in the area. I wanted to avoid unnecessary taxis and ubers. This location was perfect for walking to restaurants and sites, including the Faneuil Hall and Seaport areas. My room was exceptionally large and comfortable, with a great work space. Even though restaurant service was limited, the lobby bar had excellent warm and cold breakfast items, snacks and alcoholic beverages in the evening. All the staff was friendly and accommodating. There was no regular maid service (for stays under four days) but the staff quickly brought any requested items to the room.

We scored an excellent daily rate for our week-long stay in Boston. This hotel was great, just steps from the Downtown Crossing subway station (which gives you direct access to both the Red and the Orange lines), easy walk to Boston Common (where the Freedom Trail starts) and the North End (Italian food!). We also had easy access to other tourist sites such as the Boston Tea Party ship and (a little farther afield) Harvard, the Science Museum, and the USS Constitution/Bunker Hill. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Internet service was excellent. There are numerous restaurants surrounding the hotel.
Boston seems to be pretty strict on COVID regulations. During our stay in mid-June, we were unable to access several museums and the interiors of most buildings on the Freedom Trail because they were closed. The Hyatt requires masks to be worn in public areas. Also, they clean the rooms only once every three days because of COVID but will refresh towels or restock TP as often as you request.
My only gripe with the Hyatt was the $25/night "destination fee" that they tacked on top of the stated daily rate. When we checked in, we were handed a bunch of wooden coins and were told we could get clam chowder in the hotel restaurant by turning in the coins. We never used them. They also claimed they gave us a green card that provides discounts to various sightseeing destinations. Even if they did give us the card, I'm afraid that a few wooden nickels and a discount card aren't worth the $150 they tried to charge us for our 6-night stay. We protested and the charge was removed.

We stayed here for a long weekend in January. It's in a great spot, you can see the opera house not even a block down the street, there's a Dunkin in the same block, and Boston Common is only five minutes away.
Pros: 1) Spotless rooms and common areas 2) Great location, convenient to many things to do 3) Very helpful staff
Cons: 1) Sliding doors separate bedroom from bath, etc. Nobody likes these.

This is a nice and quiet hotel in Downtown. It is a short walk to the train stations and a decent distance from many landmarks. There are many restaurants to choose from nearby, though many are still closed due to COVID. The rooms were clean and modern. I wasn't thrilled with the $25/night hotel fee, but they give you a list of everything it pays for, such as a restaurant credit and free hand sanitizer. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay.

This property is in a great location, rooms are clean. Property has been updated. There is a decent fitness room (although lots of stairs to get down there—didn’t see an elevator), restaurant is ok. It feels less like a Hyatt Regency and more like a Hyatt Place in a CBD location. No complaints. Asked for a private room for four people to have a lunch meeting and they wanted to charge $500 for that.

The $25 per night destination fee (what the heck is that, anyway?) appears to be a sneaky trick that allows the Hyatt Regency Boston to advertise one price while charging a higher one. Similar to a resort fee, it should be illegal and will be when I rule the world. After this affront, there is nothing they could do to earn more than one star in this review. I should have charged them a $50 per night "you're lucky to have hoogo as a customer" fee.
Otherwise, the Hyatt Regency Boston is close to the upscale hotel it aspires to be. Service is polished, the hotel is nicely decorated and in fine fettle. However there are some odd quirks. I don't like the frosted glass door in the bathroom, I could not shower without lighting the room while my wife slept. The sliding doors are an abomination, they leave a peep gap in the middle, rumble when they are opened and closed and do not lock. I was disturbed by plenty of rumbling and banging of doors and shower noises from neighboring rooms.
The mattress was so thick, the bottom sheet so narrow that only an inch of sheet could be tucked in at the sides. The sheet came out as soon as I untucked the duvet and repeatedly thereafter. I do not check into hotels to remake the bed. This hotel is apparently a former mall. The lobby is one floor up from the street and there are dedicated elevators to take you up just this one floor, no option to use stairs. A second set of elevators services the remaining floors.
Rooms are serviced only every fourth day during the pandemic. I suggest you ask for all the towels and Keurig cups you want for your stay when you check in. Lighting was good, electrical outlets and usb ports were at both bedside tables and on a ledge. Provided toiletries were good, water was hot, water pressure good. I would prefer a dresser with drawers rather than a closet with shelves. Two free bottled waters were available in the lighted mini-fridge, we left it to the next guests to add to the plastic waste problem, tap water tasted just fine.

I never write hotel reviews, but I really couldn't let this one go. Overall, the stay itself was fine. It was NYE and even though I grew up nearby, I didn't want to stumble into my house at 4am. So, my friend and I grabbed a room for the night. It was clean, had four walls, a ceiling, and a floor. We didn't need much else. Bed's were okay, and sheets felt like a construction tarp, but that's not really my gripe.
The destination fee was, frankly, a joke. Sure, it's only $25, hardly a huge burden. But what I was most frustrated by was how blatant an example of nickle and diming it was.
Here's how it works:
For a non-negotiable $25 per night, Hyatt throws in a dozen "perks". These range from luggage storage to guided morning walks to a free cup of clam chowder. In other words, instead of offering perks that you can choose to purchase, they require you to buy a plethora of services that they know you either won't likely take advantage of, or that every hotel I've ever stayed at would offer for free. The free cup of chowder is a ploy to get you to eat at their restaurant. Nobody with dinner reservations is going to pop in for just a cup of chowder. Luggage storage is included at every hotel I've ever stayed at. I don't know anybody in 2020 who makes their phone calls from their hotel room landline. Wifi should be free at every hotel. And who is taking them up on their offer for a guided morning walk? These are just a few examples of what the destination fee offers. It's an "everything but the kitchen sink" model to make you believe you're getting so much value for your extra $25 per night. It's a joke. You know it, I certainly know it, and I imagine Hyatt knows it.
There was nothing about our stay that was above average, though nothing was atrocious. We payed for a room to pass out in and that's what we got. But I don't like being nickle and dimed. And for an extra $25 per night that isn't negotiable, I'd never stay at another Hyatt again. Certainly not one that has the destination fee. Any self-respecting brand in the hospitality or entertainment industry should cringe at that type of practice.

We came to stay a few nights. The first night the tray where the ice bucket, glasses and tongs are located was dirty with crumbs all over the tongs and tray. The next morning I went to desk and asked if they would clean that so I could have ice if I wanted. The “manager” was not nice, didn’t seem to care that there was a mess. Came back to room and still not clean. If they don’t clean that visible tray what are they not cleaning that isn’t as visible?? Tonight I notice a stain on white sheets. They are probably not clean either. I expected it to be done since I specifically asked. They charge you $25 resort fee. It’s BS. We didn’t get a drink when we came, premium high speed WiFi is complete crap. I couldn’t use it, nothing loaded. Don’t waste your time here. There are a lot of places to stay in Boston that are better. I certainly won’t come here again.

I stayed at this hotel for a personal vacation and while the Back Bay neighborhood is more scenic, this Downtown location is very convenient to historic sights, the Boston Common, the Long Wharf, and transportation (T) stations. Taking the Silver Line 1 (SL1) from Logan Airport is fantastic b/c it's free and goes to South Station, an 8 min. walk to the hotel. (Going to the Airport you do have to pay the fare of $2.40 while a taxi will cost about $30.) My room had a nice view and was very quiet and so I slept soundly. The room was clean and spacious, especially the bathroom. One day it rained heavily and so I had to cut short plans and return to the hotel. The comfortable room was perfect for just hanging out; especially having a table and chaise lounge instead of a desk. I only ate breakfast at Avenue One, but it was tasty and well-prepared with excellent service. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed my stay very much.

Cafe Bonjour is great for breakfast. It’s a few minutes walk away. There is often a queue and is not exactly relaxing inside, more buzzing, but food is good and sets you up for the day. Mid range $
