We had one night to spend in Boston on our way to a wedding. The Gilded Lily was the PERFECT choice! The room was lovely, James was a wonderful host. The location was convenient to restaurants and shopping. We would definitely stay there again!

This is an excellent place to stay in Boston. Very central, close to more than one T station and Copley Square, on a quiet brownstone lined street. The price is decent for Boston, especially for such a central location. The rooms are beautiful and very clean, very comfortable bed and great shower. They even included shampoo and conditioner! I really...

Our host James could not have been more accommodating. The neighborhood is quaint, quiet and safe. The flight of steps to the front door can be intimidating, as can the tight circular stairs up to the sleeping quarters. However, once inside, the rooms are clean, comfortable and feel like one is staying with a prosperous kin. Lovely touches abound. This...

We have stayed at the Gilded Lily four times now while visiting our son in Boston. Each time has been an excellent experience. The rooms are pristine clean, beautiful and quiet. My husband enjoys the food offerings in the refrigerator/kitchen area for breakfast or for a late night snack. We highly recommend it. Don't miss the Madeleine bakery nearby (James...

I only booked here as the nice conference hotels were all full and even though I have an expense account, I still hate paying top dollar for a dive. I've never tried a B&B while on business before and thought its got to be better than the hotel alternatives. I'm really glad I stayed. My room was equivalent to a...

What a lovely place to stay! My sisters and I booked the Parlor Room 1 and couldn't be more pleased. The room was exceptionally clean, welcoming and had plenty of room for my two sisters and I. The decor is quaint, beds comfortable and the atmosphere is delightful. James kindly greeted us when we arrived and gave us tips to...

Booked Gilded Lily for my son's graduation from Northeastern University and it was a great find! Good thing my son has found a job in the area so my husband & I will have a reason to return! My wife and i had the opportunity to spend an extended weekend in Boston and we were fortunate to find a room available at this wonderful property. We always prefer staying real neighborhoods to corporate hotel corridors and The Gilded Lily fits the bill perfectly. Thanks to Boston's excellent public transportation, it was also only a short walk through a...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
