This hotel is breath-takingly beautiful. What the Ames Hotel does extremely well is synchronize the historic architecture of this downtown gem with modern-day interior design and luxury. Our room was beautifully appointed with a gorgeous view of downtown historic Boston. The breakfast in the library was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have enjoyed with super helpful staff. The...

What a great hotel!!! I could not have been more pleased with the location of this wonderful place. It is a 2 minute walk to the Faneuil Hall, Quincy, North and South Markets. Our room was very clean and spacious. My only complaint is that the lighting in the bathroom is a little dim. If you're a woman applying makeup,...

Really was a great place and nicely located for running Boston, concierge and front staff know their city and provided great recommendations. Right off State Street line and close to Govt Center. Only thing I didn't like was the price point

I use Hilton for both business and leisure travel accommodations. The Ames is subpar for Hilton. Paper thin walls. Rock hard mattress. No room service or restaurant. Unprepared concierge. The staff was polite and friendly.

I spent two nights at this hotel for a business trip. I was lodged on the last floor. The room was a a very good size with a very comfortable king size bed. The service is excellent. Nevertheless, there are a couple of minus points: the room has no big windows, only small windows pretty high on the wall so...

Glenn from your front desk from checking us in to our room to making sure we had a shower after the Boston Marathon was amazing!! If he didn't have an answer he would find out or make it happen for us. The room was very clean and I loved the décor and feel of the room. It was great to...

The hotel was fine, even though at the time I was there, the bar was closed due to renovation. But the bad customer service experience I had is just unacceptable from an hotel of that rank. I did book and pay through eBookers. And the day I left, the hotel charged me a second time for my stay. And even...

Very convenient for evening flight arrival, quick ride from Logan airport. Perfect location for walking around the city. Restaurant was still under construction, will add to the overall experience if a good one and if it has a bar. Also very convenient to South Station for traveling by train elsewhere - walking distance. Had a great stay here!

Everything from the hotel staff (front desk and Donna) the comfort of my bed was top notch. And the location of this hotel is prime. You're in the heart of the city and walking distance to numerous train lines. And there are numerous attractions close by.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
