The InterContinental Boston, an IHG Hotel, garners appreciation for its prime location and its impeccably clean surroundings, with travelers often praising its beautiful decor. Guests enjoy the spacious and comfortable rooms, although some suggest they could benefit from modernization. While the hotel's amenities receive mixed reviews, with some guests expecting more for their money, the service also ranges from commendable to needing improvement. Additionally, the value proposition is questioned due to unexpected fees, leaving some guests feeling the experience does not justify the cost.

Intercontinental Boston delivered one of our best and most memorable hotel stays. We enjoyed 7 nights here. The customer service experience was outstanding. All departments of the hotel delivered exceptional service. Our check-in experience was professional, super friendly and informative. The perfect start! A special mention to the team who manage the daily room clean (Our room was 502). The room was cleaned to a very high standard and the team member who looked after our room was super warm and friendly. It was a pleasure seeing her everyday, working super hard to deliver the best standards for this hotel. We enjoyed some amazing breakfasts. Special thank you to Annie who served us at breakfast. A perfect host and exceptional service.
We used the Club Lounge during our stay. A fantastic experience. Great space to relax. The management team at this hotel have got the perfect balance here. The food, drinks and the space were just right. Plenty of options! Krish, Francesca and Dennis were the perfect hosts. By far the best club lounge team I have ever come across. Attention to detail, warm, welcoming and always provided plenty of tips of places to visit in Boston. Thank you.

We look forward to visiting again.

This hotel gets 5 stars for the following attributes: very large rooms, with a big desk, huge, beautiful bathroom (including a soaking tub, a very luxurious robe and high quality amenities), and super comfortable beds, all of which were so welcome at the end of long days walking all over the city; the perfect location, quiet on the Harbor with a gorgeous view, but close enough to the action to walk to the North End, Quincy Market and the Freedom Trail sites and literally steps to the Boston Tea Party museum; easy, convenient parking attached right to the hotel with a direct elevator to the lobby (not included with the rate but convenient); very helpful staff - making our room and the hotel super clean and making our stay so pleasant, easy in terms of navigating the City, and giving us everything we needed; and on site restaurants which were open and served a delicious breakfast each day (again, not included but convenient). I highly recommend this hotel for families (or anyone)! I must add that the lobby is so pretty - the fireplace was always going, making for a very inviting place to sit and have a drink, and it always smelled like the fresh flowers that are displayed everyday. Such a nice place to stay to recharge from the hustle and bustle of the days touring the city.

The wonderful experience started as soon as we checked in. Jack at the front desk welcomed us with his sincere hospitality. The room we stayed in was spacious and maintained very well. Given the affordable room rate, the services we received including in-room dining, housekeeping, and concierge are all impeccable and totally exceed our expectations. While we checked out, Mamta who helped us was lovely and genuinely cared about our experience staying at the hotel. I feel very content and happy. I will definitely come back when I visit Boston next time!

I am an IHG member & was looking forward to staying in this hotel as it is the first Intercontinental I have stayed in. I have always stayed at Kimpton Hotels or Indigo & found them great to stay in. The location is awesome & great to be by the harbor. However the room was disappointing. Although I was on the 4th floor in a renovated room, 2 of the electrical outlets didn’t work. The mattress was not very firm and I woke up daily with a backache that took a couple of hours of walking to sort out. Also the sheet isn’t fitted so it would constantly come loose after any time in the bed. I had to adjust it numerous times. On a positive, the bathroom was beautiful and great shower. However the hotel cleaner didn’t provide new washcloths when cleaning up even though they were hung up & not thrown into the tub.

I ate breakfast in the hotel only once because the prices were pretty high for what you could order. For example, $21.50 for a cup of coffee & oatmeal with fruit! Really. Yes it’s Boston but that seemed over the top.

Would not stay here again.

Dear Denvergirl80238, I would like to sincerely thank you for sharing your candid feedback with us and for being a loyal IHG member. While I was happy to hear our location worked well for you, I'm sorry your stay fell below your expectations. Our renovation team worked very diligently to ensure that all of our newly renovated rooms were in top order and ready for our guests to begin enjoying them, but with 2 of your outlets not working properly it sounds like we missed the mark. Rest assured our staff will be checking these items closely. Our Housekeeping management has been made aware of your washcloths not being replaced and this will be an opportunity for improvement with our staff. Again, thank you for sharing your comments with us, it helps us to keep our service on target and always be improving your stay experience. I hope you will give us the opportunity to show you the level of service we strive to provide on a future trip. Kind regards, Christoph T. Wulff Director of Rooms

First visit to Boston as my partner and I wound up a month-long trip to various other states in America. Initially we were going to stay at a hotel closer to downtown Boston, but thank the heavens we chose to stay here instead. It was the perfect setting to rest and relax. Staff were amazing from start to finish. Greeted very warmly by Mr Huang on arrival. Our room was superb (king junior suite) and we had a blissful 4-night stay. Excellent bed and pillows. A/C works well to keep the room cool. Large bathroom with tub and walk-in shower. Room service was super quick and food arrived hot. The hotel environment felt calm and secure, staff and all guests were compliant with using face coverings and social distancing measures. Wifi quality was excellent. Every time we met a staff member (housekeeping, concierge, doorman) everybody greeted us politely. There was nothing staff could not do for us and everything was handled in a high standard professional way. Location of this hotel was very good too as South Station is just 5 mins away on foot, and Logan International Airport is just across the way. Thank you for making our stay such a memorable and happy one.

This hotel is in a great location but keep in mind that it is a luxury hotel so you have a valet for parking and a bellman for your luggage (you are not allowed to use the luggage carts on your own). The front desk staff was very courteous and the rooms were great. My room was spacious and very cool - the bed was comfortable and the shower was good, even though I had to let the water run for several minutes before it got warm. I had one issue and that was with room service. I ordered 2 eggs, sausage and coffee and was charged for a full breakfast with toast, potatoes and fruit included. I contacted the front desk staff and was promised a follow up; I haven't heard from them so called the hotel and explained my problem again. Again, I was promised a follow-up and 24 hours later, still nothing. I will try again in a few days. However, the hotel is in a great location - we walked about a mile to the North End and the Old North Church. Overall, this is a great hotel.

Paid triple ($487 w/free breakfast for 2) what we would normally pay for a hotel room while on vacation thinking our 1 day in Boston in a high end hotel would be nice - it was the opposite - the view of the water was nice to see but it did nothing for the whole of our stay so the price we paid was not worth it. The view from this room is right over the Boston tea party ships and there is nice view of Fort Point but the office building next to us blocks view of the harbor/ocean so I consider this a partial view which is a lower room charge, but they consider this a full water view. Next time I decide to pay extra for room view I will check out the room first.

4 of us were uncomfortable in the room as there were only 2 chairs to sit in. We ordered takeout from bbq place across the bridge and it was uncomfortable eating in the room. Moved the chair and found pistachio shells and broken plastic underneath so housekeeping is not thoroughly cleaning the room. Bathroom was nice with large shower and tub.

Free breakfast at high end Miel restaurant had only 8 options on menu with 6 of them pork so we got pancakes and we didn’t like how they made them crispy edged.

Parking on the street near this hotel is impossible and everything nearby is closed after 7pm so my kids were disappointed there was nothing to do as they wanted to wander around the area to shop. We paid 44 for valet parking and this made it inconvenient having to get things out of the car during the course of our stay as our stuff was packed disorganized from a week’s vacation just outside Boston. We will stick with our regular holiday inn hotel outside the city. This was a mistake we won’t repeat.

Stayed at this hotel for an overnight trip to explore Boston. The hotel is gorgeous and clean with attention to detail throughout. The staff here was friendly and helpful during our stay. The location is perfect for exploring some of Boston's most popular tourist sights. The Boston Tea Party Museum is right outside the back entrance of the hotel, while the New England Aquarium, Faneuil Hall, Boston Common, and other Freedom Trail sights are within 15-minute walking distance. We experienced two challenges during our stay: The street noise and a pool full of little kids. We were upgraded to a premier city view room, which offered a great view, but even 7 floors up it was loud. Luckily we brought earplugs and the radio in the room offered nature sounds to drown out the noise. We visited during school vacation week and attempted to use the pool 3 times but it was packed with little kids each time. This is not the hotel's fault, but something to be aware of if you're looking for a quiet swim. Luckily, we had a nice soaker tub in the room to enjoy in peace. Overall a great stay and would recommend it!

Revisiting Boston from San Diego for our anniversary and decided to stay at the Intercontinental Hotel again. It never disappoints! This visit, however, has been exceptionally special as the staff has been very attentive and has gone above and beyond to make our stay extremely enjoyable and memorable. Specifically the management, Jack and John, along with the concierge staff of Rob and Adam, have attended to our every need and have made lots of suggestions to make our trip better than we could have imagined.

The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. All staff members from housekeeping to the bellmen have been friendly and have gone out of their way to get us what we needed and helped us in every way. We are so delighted that we came back and look forward to another stay in the future.

I stayed here from Mon-Fri in early July and was happy with the experience. There were 2 minor hiccups that had nothing to do with the property or service. My room was spacious and comfortable and aesthetically pleasant. The in room thermostat kept the room very comfortable during a few very hot days. I slept like a baby in the king bed. The blackout drapes leave the room pitch black. The large windows offered a very nice city view. The property overlooks one end of the Rose Kennedy Greenway and is situated within walking distance of plenty of dining, shopping and nightlife options (though not so many during the pandemic). The contactless check-in and check-out was quick and efficient. Masks were required on hotel property (and outside, for that matter). Some of the amenities (pool, gym, etc) were unavailable, but I expected that when I booked the reservation. Regarding the two hiccups, someone in a neighboring room decided to party at 1:30 on Thursday morning and the music and thumping bass woke me up. I hoped that it would be brief because it prevented me from getting back to sleep, but eventually I had to call guest services and a member of the security staff was at their door in less than 2 minutes (I was impressed) and the noise ceased. Later the following day, 3 floors (including mine) were evacuated. The fire department showed up and cleared us to return in 30 minutes. Neither of these inconveniences were the fault of the property and I appreciate how they were handled. All in all, it was a relaxing getaway and I would certainly stay here again.
