Detailed Reviews
I travel to Boston every month and stay a few nights. I've tried many hotels in town, but once I found The Godfrey, my search for a regular hotel was over. The style is modern and the rooms are nicely appointed. While the rooms are not huge, they are a decent size and the bathrooms are nicely configured. The bathroom has a blue motion-detector night lite which makes it easy to find the loo in the middle of the night and the showers have great water pressure.
I've tried several room types at the hotel and if you like a quiet room, get an interior room. The bed and bedding are comfortable and the desk is functional. The rooms are well-cleaned and furniture is kept repaired. There are plenty of plugs around the room and each room comes with an ironing board, iron, robe, slippers, a Keurig, and to go cups.
The room service is from Ruka, a Japanese-Peruvian restaurant downstairs and the food is delicious and beautifully presented. George Howell Coffee is also connected to the hotel and is great for coffee/tea and breakfast. The staff is lovely and thoughtful.

We did a weekend getaway and decided to book at the Godfrey. To start off there is no hotel parking. You can either valet for roughly $50 with unlimited in/out or you can self park (I did this) at the parking garage about 2 blocks away (5-10 minute walk) for about $34. At first the hotel felt like I Waac walking into a club....low lighting, loud music....but the staff was nice and check-in was quick. The room was quiet and clean. Complimentary water and coffee are in the room.
The best part of the hotel is that it is located in an extremely convenient location where everything a tourist would like to do in Boston is within walking distance.
I’d highly recommend this hotel and I plan on returning as well.
The only reason it didn’t get rated 5/5.....no complimentary breakfast like its big wig competitors. And I love my breakfasts.

We were a group of 4, staying in one room. Great beds and everything tidy and nice. The staff was extremely helpful, with fx ordering a table for us at a nearby restaurant, calling a taxi for us and giving us tips on easiest ways around town. The doormen were really helpful and one of them even ran down the street trying to find us a taxi.

This hotel is a very bad value proposition.
The rooms are less than small. The rooms are so tiny there isn't enough room for 2 bedside tables. There is no room for your luggage. It is a 2 star at best. I find it incomprehensible that others would rate this hotel any higher than that.
The service was awful. They charged me twice for the room, and I had to back to the hotel to ask for the money back. Parking fees are exorbitant. The service is awful. The breakfast is in an open cafe where any member of the public can come in.
I cannot find a single redeemable aspect for this property other than the location is central and good, but the rooms are an abomination and unless you don't like yourself or your partner, you should not ever consider this property.
AND the prices were extremely expensive. But that was insult to injury. If it had been a cheap hotel, my review would have been identical. Don't.

Hi EZT, I am so sorry you experienced these issues while staying at our hotel. I am very surprised you found our service so awful as it is something we pride ourselves on. It looks like you stayed with us in July of 2019 however I would still be very interested in hearing what parts of the service were an abomination. Our parking costs are very competitive with other hotels in our location charge and I am so sorry if you found that unacceptable. Please know we are always trying to better our product and service, if you ever find yourself back in Boston reach out directly so I can better assist you. Not sure what star rating this place is supposed to have but I’ve stayed in chain motels with better amenities. No concierge which is fine for a 3 star but Young women at check in were ignorant of nearby neighborhoods and their attractions. The hotel is about 1/3 of a mile from Beacon Hill and Charles Street and the woman in charge at the desk told me there was no such street with shopping in Boston. She told me the best street is Newbury Street because they have Zara. Girl, please.
I asked where the bar was and they pointed to a door and said it opened at 5. The door led to a sushi restaurant that was not at associated with the hotel, they had no bar and knew nothing about why the hotel claimed that was their bar.
The rooms are quite small and there is no refrigerator in the room. I needed to refrigerate something so they brought me a mini fridge to the room that had to be plugged into the only available outlet right outside the bathroom door. They have no ice makers on the floor I’m on so they brought me ice in a dry cleaner bag they had ripped in half and tied up.
So far not so good.
The ambiance is office building hallways with tiny rooms they’ve added a bath and a bed to. Very little space to put your clothes. Really, pretty awful.

I just spent one week in the Godfrey, from the recommendation of my 26-year-old son, who I spent a few days there transitioning from one apartment to another. The hotel is extremely well located in walking distance to a variety of areas including the Boston Commons Chinatown the wharf little Italy in the Seaport area. Even though they were unable to clean the room on a daily basis the room was very clean and any needs I had were immediately addressed. Couldn’t be happier. If I had anything negative to say it would be the lack of a pool or spa, unless they had one and I wasn’t aware of it. But I definitely will stay there next time I go to Boston. Also, from my own personal experience wow in Boston for the week, I would recommend the nearby Bean town pub in the restaurant called back deck which is just a half a block away.

We were beyond pleased with our recent stay at The Godfrey. I searched high and low, reading so many reviews about "boutique" hotels in Boston, and chose The Godfrey based on the great things I read. I was not disappointed in the least! The hotel is very special and the location is so fantastic if you are looking to be within walking distance on the Freedom Trail and want to enjoy a good walk to the North End. Upon entering the hotel, the aroma of fragrant Green Tea flowed through the lobby, and it was just so refreshing and inviting! We were greeted by Daniel, who was extremely kind, gracious, and accommodating. We took someone else's advice and requested a corner room because of the larger windows on both sides of the building, giving us a wonderful street view. We were so happy to have been granted that! Our room was so clean and crisp, the bathroom lovely with a huge shower and very nice oversized showerhead. Perfect after a busy day of walking the Freedom Trail! There were nice snacks and water bottles in the room.... Smart Pop popcorn, Teddy Grams, Pop Chips, and Doritos, at no charge! The rooms are a bit smaller than your typical chain hotel, however, we had plenty of room for our very large suitcases and carry bags. The hotel was incredibly quiet and quaint. We also appreciated the doorman, Arbon, who directed us to a wonderful coffee shop around the corner and other things not to miss. Everyone at this hotel was exceptionally helpful, and was so eager to please. We also appreciated Lillian going the extra mile to try and help us find a tour that would work for us. Make sure you enjoy the wonderful coffee shop in the lobby, but also know other than light pastries/muffins, there is not other food available should you be looking for a meal. We will be back!

We stayed for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. This hotel is meticulously clean and well run, and the housekeeping services were flawless. The complimentary soaps smelled divine, all the staff were kind and efficient, and we experienced no loud noises from any guests during normal hours. The beds were very comfortable (for me, my husband had back pain daily, and this is normally a reversed situation, so I adored the beds) and the hotel's location is wonderfully situated by all the subway entries. We had such an easy time navigating the subway system simply due to this location. The ONLY criticism I have is that at 5 AM, nearly every morning, there was some kind of equipment usage going on. I didn't get up to see what it was, but I suspect it was either a garbage truck or a street sweeper. I was easily able to fall back asleep, and there's nothing the Godfrey can do about that noise. This hotel is a bit pricey comparatively to other places in the area, but you do get what you pay for. I rated the value as 4 stars instead of 5 with the understanding that I don't actually know if the lesser priced hotels have comparable quality of cleanliness and service. You can't go wrong staying here!

Really enjoyed my 5 night stay in the Godfrey. All of the staff I encountered during my stay were friendly and accommodating. The door was always opened for me on departure and arrival to hotel each day, I was helped to my room with my bags on arrival and my bags were stored for the day following check out by the bellmen.
The lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas which meant there was a lovely atmosphere.
The standard king room was very comfortable with large bed with plenty of pillows, desk with Samsung smart TV, good size wardrobe with safe and iron with ironing board. Bathroom had a good size shower and nice toiletries and even a robe with slippers.
There were a mix of snacks in the room covered by the urban fee (chips, popcorn, granola bars, oreos, cookies, dried fruit) along with bottled water and tea, coffee (Keurig machine) and these were replenished during room cleaning or by request as needed.
Really enjoyed my stay and will likely return!

Tara R Thank you for takin the time to review your most recent stay. I am glad to hear you liked our Christmas decorations, and I agree they create a lovely atmosphere. My favorite part is the snacks, which are replenished daily with Housekeeping service, although guests that do not request service, can just request snack replenishment. We look forward to welcoming you back! Cheers,

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights. Everyone was super accommodating from the minute we walked in. With covid we were a bit hesitant to travel but glad we did. Staff wore masks and hand sanitizing stations were placed in optimal locations. Clean room and a great location. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

Pretty sure it’s just a 200$ hold on the card and goes right back to you within 2/3 days. Hope that helps!
He just says that the best thing do is to ask the hotel about their cancallation policy.
You can see it when you are reserving your stay whether directly or through an agency.
There is easy transit from the airport which was just as fast as taxi. Use the free airport shuttle from the airport to the T (subway) and then take the subway to Washington for a quick walk to the hotel. We bought a week long subway pass when we arrived and used it for the duration of our 5 day stay for only $22 a person. Well worth it
