This hybrid between a resort and a hotel is in a historical Boston landmark. The Marriott at Custom House is centrally located in between the Downtown, Waterfront and North End areas of Boston. Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market, the New England Aquarium, Old State House and TD Garden are a few minutes walk, the North End with its Italian dining can be reached in 10 minutes and Fenway Park is a 20 minute ride on the T. All rooms are 1 bedroom suites, very comfortable, with nice bathrooms and many with views of the Harbor. Free tours, cocktail hours and live music add to the enjoyment of your stay. There is a small game room with free laundry and an observation deck to view the Boston skyline. Fitness room and morning grab and go breakfast are available. Staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient.

This hotel could not be better: cordial staff, beautifully appointed suites( living room, mini kitchen, fabulous beds, room darkening shades) and fabulous views. This iconic building has an observation tower on the 26th floor that provides incredible views of Boston Harbor and other noteworthy buildings; neighborhoods. Every night the hotel offered a small music venue with a complimentary drink. Tours were also available from the hotel that were free of charge. Monika, was an outstanding concierge, who was pleasant to work with and easily accessible. Kudos to Sophie, who arranged afternoon mini events in the lobby, related to Boston: Red Sox, specific candies, Samples of Boston cream pies, etc. Maid service was diligent and readily available. The hotel even offered free laundry services, as well as a game room and gym. Grab and Go breakfast, was available for a reasonable price, and coffee was free from 6AM-9AM. The location enables you to skip having a car. Most venues walkable and uber available. Had a wonderful time. Have been a Marriott owner for 20 years: by far the best hotel! Don't miss it. Cheers to resort management who is clearly in touch with what guests want and value.

We stayed 5 nights July 14-19 and very much enjoyed our stay. We were able to check in early and was given a room with a great view on the 12th floor. We chose this hotel after a friend of mine stayed here when it was still a time share only property. She knew I wanted a separate bedroom and living area since our son was coming and the pullout sofa in the living area was very helpful. Loved this hotel is very close to the subway, and short walking distance to so many things. Plus, being out at night and looking for the clock tower was fun too! We only had very pleasant and helpful exchanges with the front desk, housekeeping or anyone else who worked there.

I will say to be prepared to find breakfast somewhere if the minimal continental breakfast options that you have to pay for is not what you want. I don't eat breakfast very often, but my husband does, and the Dunkin Donuts close by sold bagels or croissants with egg and sausage. This was a fast option, not ideal, but fast and he said filling.

If this had not been our first-time visiting Boston as a family with so much to see and do, we would have done a couple of the daily activities they offer. We came back one day, and housekeeping was still in our room, so we went to the second floor and sat at a table to hang out for a few minutes. While we were sitting there someone was giving a group the details on the Custom House and what all it went through. it was very interesting!! Maybe next time we can make some time for some of those things. But each day they had several things guests could participate in if they wanted to.

Our room was very clean, and nothing looked worn out. Plenty of drawer space and plenty of closet space. There is a small fridge, a microwave, utensils and glasses, and a sink in the living/dining area. They do have Aveda bath products in the bathroom, which was nice. And lastly the bed wasn't too hard nor too soft. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

. . . was our stay. When we arrived at 10:50 p.m., the three of us were accommodated as a family in "Suite 101", which according to the booking was suitable for up to 4 adults.
Suite 101 is located between the breakfast room and the guest toilet. One bed was made, the front desk staff recommended that we look for bedding for the sofa in the apartment and make it ourselves.

Other "highlights":
You can hear the subway (trains up to 4 minutes apart) from 5:20 a.m. and guests going to/from the breakfast room from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (end of the Sangia Social with guitarist).

The view through the dirty windows from the bedroom is of the garbage dump.

Room price 1570 USD for three nights but
according to the front desk, there is no better room because "we are fully booked".

Conclusion:
I usually always stay in a hotel, but if I rent a vacation apartment again, I will look for offers on AirBNB, not on booking or Marriott.

Not sure how the whole vacation club thing works (we are not members) but we booked direct through the Marriott app and this was for all purposes no different than any normal hotel booking for us.

The location is great if you want to do any of the tourist highlights in Boston as you can pretty much walk everywhere from here.

Best thing about this hotel is the history and the views. Lots of cool stuff around like the customs memorabilia, the massive original, dome in the lobby and being able to see the inner workings of the giant clocks on the outside of the building. There is a children's playroom, theater, gym, etc... but the best part is the 26th floor wraparound observation deck which makes staying here worth it just for the views. Make sure to check it out during day and night. After dinner, grab some pastries in North End and grab one of the tables on the deck and enjoy the night views - you won't be disappointed.

The rooms are a bit dated and housekeeping could have been better but they are nice enough. Suite with a king bedroom and queen sleeper sofa was perfect for 4. Sleeper sofa in American Leather brand and thus more comfortable than the folding sofas with bars in the middle.

One thing we could do without was the sales pitch, twice, as we were checking out. Also, we don't typically do breakfast in US hotels in any case but we saw the breakfast while grabbing coffee and have to say it looked awful as an all prepackaged thing that you grab and pay for a la carte by filling out a form, and was things like pre buttered rolls wrapped in saran wrap.

My husband and I spent the last week of April at this beautiful location in the heart of the historic district of Boston. Our room was located on the 10th floor overlooking the harbor and Logan Airport in the distance. I'm so glad I brought binoculars to watch the planes. Check-in was simple and the desk personel were very friendly. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The views are absolutely amazing but be sure to go up to the Observation Deck on the 26th floor to take in the sights and watch the sunset. We took full advantage of the many popular restaurants in the area...especially The Chart House which was arranged by the lead concierge before she left for a conference. Fauniel Hall is a short block away and shopping venues are abundant. Take a short walk over to the North End and try Bova's Bakery while you walk the cobblestone streets near the Old North Church. Their pastries are the best in Boston!! Valet took our car when we checked in and we didn't need it the entire week. We learned how to use the T subway line which was amazingly easy, especially to go do a tour of Fenway Park, which is not to be missed. Absolutely go take a Hop-on/Hop-off Old Town Trolly Tour right from the street in front of the hotel. They are excellent and hit all of the best places from the USS Constitution to Beacon Hill to the Tea Party Museum. I cannot begin to thank the friendly staff. From the front desk...to housekeeping....to the valet. Everyone was warm and welcoming. It was such a wonderful week. We hope to return in the near future.

So, your company never communicated back with me. Never sent me a receipt, and charged me for everything including the complimentary drinks, and the valet parking that your manager Maria Elena said she would waive. All of this and your valet parking attendant on the last day started throwing up his hands in the air and cussed because I said I did not want them to touch my car or do anything after what had happened with the valet losing an expensive key chain that means more to me than the $80-$100 dollars they cost if they can be found to replace them. I have never in all of the years I have been a Bonvoy customer had so much unprofessional conduct I have had to deal with as I did at your facility.

Great hotel. I wish they would provide more security for the observation deck. The night of the Harborfest fireworks, July 2, 2022 several Marriott Vacation Club members that were NOT staying at the resort camped out in the observation deck for hours and blocked the premium view of the fireworks. These people were locals taking advantage of something nice that’s meant for guests.

My family stayed here for 4 nights in April. It is walkable from South Station, and easy to find throughout the stay due to the clock tower. The pullout couch was comfortable (and not a cheap pad on strings), and requested a rollaway bed (which is the size of a twin mattress, it's big, so keep in mind that it doesn't fold away inconspicuously in the morning). The views were nice, and they had a few amenities that we all enjoyed (cocktail hours, snacks). Although we have kids we did not use the kids room or movie room (we were fine with watching tv in our own room). We went to the activity room for 30 minutes to play checkers and pool, and went a few times to the observation deck.

It is centrally located, so it was convenient that as we walked past it to drop off and pick up items. There is a market we found a few blocks away (Golden Goose Market) that we stopped at for beers, breakfast items, and snacks. They also sell hot items.

Boston is a very walkable city and anywhere from the state house end of boston commons to the Paul Revere house is centrally located and walkable for a family. So while this was a great experience here, I would open up the area we stay at for future visits.

We stayed 8 days in August 2020 and we were very pleased with the Custom House. I was a bit concerned about staying in a high rise due to Covid but we were pleasantly surprised at the protocols the hotel has set up to ensure social distancing. The room was spacious and very nicely decorated. I also really liked that the hotel is so close to many great restaurants. I was able to park my car myself everyday right in front of the hotel, I was grateful the hotel did not require me to use valet (even though self park was just as expensive as valet parking, I did not want anyone entering my car due to Covid) The hotels provided 3 washers and 3 dryers free to guests. Housekeeping does not enter the room but they do bring up anything you may need such as towels, soap, shampoo, etc. There were a few things that annoyed me a bit but it did not affect my 5 star score...1) The Marriott Vacation club salesperson at the entrance of the hotel was a bit annoying. She was very nice but too persistent. I told her from the moment she first tried to feed me her sales pitch that I was not interested in any Marriott Vacation Club membership a/k/a Timeshare but each time she saw me she asked me if I wanted to participate in the 90 minute presentation. She offered me 20k Marriott rewards to just sit down with her and give her my information which I did and she never credited my account with the Marriott Rewards points. 2) Elevators - The building only has two elevators on the lower floors and they are more often than not used by the staff. When the staff was with a supervisor and the door opened they stepped out and allowed the guest to use the elevator. But when the housekeepers were alone they would never get out for us...this happened at least 6 times.
