TL;DR: We live about 90 minutes inland, and we will definitely be bringing friends and family back here. Highly recommend this hideaway gem! We enjoyed this little motel so much. You pull in the drive, past the main house, and it's like you're in a little hideaway! Lush with plants and tropical colors, the rooms are cozy and the perfect place to land after a day at the beach, which is just a short drive away. The shampoo/conditioner/body wash/soap smells just lovely, and it was nice to my hair after the salt water and UV rays. The website doesn't mention that it includes a hair dryer, so we brought our own, but there was one in our room after all, so don't worry about packing one. The beds were so comfortable, the rattan/wicker furniture in the rooms added to the coastal feel, and the TV was mounted to the wall above a bed, which is lux. Love it. Also loved the walk in shower. Great heat--all four of us were able to shower after a day at the beach with no problem. We just LOVED that it's pet friendly, and it was fun to meet all the other dogs there. The area has good sidewalks on both sides of the street, so even though there isn't a lot of grass on site, we were able to talk our dogs for walks very close by, and we felt very safe in this area, even early in the morning and late at night. The check-in lady was very friendly and helpful, as was the owner I met the second morning. We interacted with other guests (and their dogs), and honestly, it felt like a little community. I can't quite put my finger on it. Everyone there was just so friendly. I'd love to be there when the weather was a little better for the fire pit and the tiki bar!

Staff is excellent. Rooms are immaculate. This is the best place I have stayed at in the OBX area. They have rooms to accommodate any need. You can really tell that the staff and owners really take pride in their establishment. I highly recommend them for your next stay. I actually prefer staying here than at a hotel on the beach. There is just so much to do around this area. The property has porch swings, a fire pit, even a bar area for those who smoke. I can’t say it enough this place is wonderful!!

Cute house/inn with Key West-style painted motor inn rooms. Very clean with modern updated bathroom/shower, T.V., little fridge and microwave. Complimentary coffee and ice in the common room. We were greeted by Savannah who is very personable with a can-do attitude. She even offered to build us a fire in the firepit. Pet friendly but you can hear barking through the walls if someone leaves their pet in their room. Reasonable rates, too. Next time I will bring my own pillow.

This was the best hotel experience I have had in 10+ years. Not like the cooky cutter big box hotels. Personal, comforting, and a most pleasant experience. Loved the court yard feel w/ my own door. C0mpletely up dated interiors w/ a wonderful shower. And a very clean and attractive exterior courtyard. I will book this again.

My wife and I visited here in September 2022 to celebrate our anniversary on Roanoke Island. The staff at Island guest house were all super friendly. At one point, I could not find a parking spot to accommodate my larger truck and a staff member went and moved her vehicle to give me more space. The room was very clean and the bathroom updated. We will probably make this our go to place every year now.

We had a wonderful stay at the Island Guesthouse. If you are looking for clean, comfortable accommodations with a personal touch, this is it! Our room was very clean, and I'm a stickler for clean. The beds were comfortable, and the mini-fridge and microwave were a nice touch. The owner is like your own concierge, giving us great recommendations for restaurants and sight-seeing. As an added touch, the Island Guesthouse is painted in island colors of blue, green, yellow, and orange. It makes it very appealing to the eye, and fun to stay at. I would definitely return if we are ever in the area again.

Stayed two nights in the single story building, decorated with pretty flower baskets. Clean room, fridge, and microwave. Great coffee in the morning. Central location, and it was very quiet. The pillows were a bit too hard for me.
