Very Courteous Staff, Fantastic Views, Modern Bedrooms, High-End Bathroom (most important attribute) and Affordable Luxury. Walking Distance from Great Eats and Night Spots. Strongly Recommend for business and leisure travelers alike. Enjoy your stay.

We stayed at the Thompson LES in November 2013, and after our one night stay, I would definitely return. I liked the overall simple yet chic, minimal but modern approach. Our room had small but really thoughtful details like a bonsai plant, large spacious elevators, terrace view, toothbrush/shaving kit amenities that I've very rarely seen before in a hotel setting.... Although staff were friendly and rooms were interesting, there was nothing special about this hotel although it borders on being a bit pretentious. Their bar is closed during the winter and you have to pay for wifi. Lots of interesting items in the rooms for sale but prohibitively expensive for most people. Room we had overlooked a construction site and... More

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent experience with us. It’s so great to hear that you enjoyed our team members and room design. Our pool bar is seasonal and unfortunately we have to close it when the temperature outside drops for the colder months; however, our indoor bars at Blue Ribbon and Above Allen... More

I stayed at the Thompson LES one night earlier in the month. Some MAJOR missed opportunities in check-in process, although the young woman at the desk was quite gracious in attempting to rectify the two things I found unacceptable. Overall I'd say the best thing about the hotel is the floor-to-ceiling views of Lower Manhattan - good photo opps! Not... More

Booked through Tablet Hotels private sale so great value. Nice room, not bad size for New York standards. Very comfy bed and great shower. Stayed in one of the back rooms (1713) so quiet in terms of road noise but construction was a little annoying, starting at 7am. Windows did a good job of blocking out most of it but... More

I stayed here back in August 2010 with a bunch of friends. I booked my own room. Very stylish and cool interiors, I absolutely loved the design of the rooms. Dark brown glossy wood grain finishes, a photographic framed light box above the bed head by an artist whose name I cannot remember, cool metal ball bearing room divider screen.... More

I like staying at the Thompson LES for several reasons: - It's in a great neighborhood, and close to several more - It's a nice mix of boutique and full size hotel. All the amenities, but not so big you are just a number - For a New York hotel, nice sized rooms and full bathrooms - The staff is... More

I have stayed here on numerous occasions over the last couple years. This is where it's at whether you're staying for business or leisure. Located in the heart of LES with supreme access to E Village, Alphabet City, Nolita, Lil Italy, Chinatown, the options for restaurants, shopping, galleries and nighspots are simply...orgasmic. Staff is friendly and non-douchey. All the usual... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
At the epicenter of downtown Manhattan's vibrant New Renaissance in cuisine, galleries, live music clubs, and nightlife spots, the fun-defining SIXTY LES evokes the youthful spirit of its all-hours neighborhood-an indie-vibed district on display from nearly every Jim Walrod-curated suite's floor-to-ceiling windows. Andy Warhol's visage looks up from the scene-and-be-seen swimming pool's bottom, while gritty images by iconic photographer Lee Friedlander illuminate bedroom headboards. Step out into the street life and walk directly into the world-recognized New Museum or countless gastronaut destination spots. But guests need go no further than the vibrant award-winning Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya tavern and bar for Japanese cuisine and stellar cocktails, courtesy of foodie deities the Bromberg brothers. SIXTY LES is part of SIXTY Hotels, a new, innovative of luxury inns located in New York, Los Angeles, and debuting in Miami soon-ish. ... more   less
