The Standard is beautifully situated for a stay in Manhattan, with subway service close by and the pleasures of Washington Square Park and Tompkins Square Park just a few blocks away through lovely little streets full of splendid little restaurants and shops. There is a much more diverse, artsy and happening feeling here than in the stuffy upper east and...

This hotel deserves more than five stars. All the staff are kind friendly knowledgeable smart and funny. The rooms are stunning with amazing views. I was there in August 2016 and I'm going back October 2017. I just booked my room. So excited! Thank you Will Jordan Shanna Paige and everyone else at The Standard. Rebecca Loudon

We spent 4 nights at the Standard East Village - a well situated hotel in the East Village. The room was clean and we had a great view over the city from the floor to ceiling glass. The decor is stark and it is not conducive to any in-room work (desk is VERY small). The small bar/cafe in the lobby...

I visited just before Christmas and was there for a couple of weeks. The size of the room was tiny but traveling alone this was easy to copy with. I also had a corner room will full window wrap around that made it less claustrophobic than it should have been with a view of Brooklyn Bridge, Chrysler and Empire State....

Happy New Year! Hope you are well. Thank you for your post and kind words. I will share your feedback with the Chef, I think you are referring to the sunchoke soup? Perhaps it's an acquired taste as we also get rave reviews over it. The Winter Garden has been a huge hit and happy your got to experience it!...

We visited The Standard during a city stop-off on a Christmas time visit to the state of New York. The room was comfortable, and the bar downstairs was super-cute. The hotel is on the pricey side, with some costs feeling slightly uncalled for (a $8 charge for any room service seems a little steep to run a plate of fries...

Thank you for staying with us and happy you could enjoy the stay! Love that we get our team members mentioned by name, Will is an asset to the front desk. Delivery fees are customary for room service in hotels in NYC. All fees and services charges are indicated on the bottom of our menus. Sorry it was a surprise....

Overall this hotel met our needs. The location was good, staff were friendly and helpful particularly at reception. Bar was always busy with a young crowd. Good buzz and atmosphere. However the rooms( at least ours) was pretty small and not inexpensive. Generally we would gave expected a bigger room in an American hotel. Food in the hotel was of...

Thank you for staying with us. Sorry we were unable to WOW you. We have 4 categories of room sizes. You were in the entry level which is small. New York is famously known for smaller rooms as space is a premium for which you must pay unfortunately. For longer stays or if you are travelling with a companion and...

I'm not sure I get what all the hype is about. This hotel is ok, but definitely not worth the extremely high price. My room was so tiny I could barely walk around the bed, and the closet was so small there wasn't room for shelves. I will admit the bed was very comfortable but I doubt that (plus the...

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay. We are priced very competitively for our neighborhood, style of hotel and size of rooms offered at all times therefore the dates of your stay was over the very busy holiday shopping season and New Year's Eve period where rates are the highest. In the slower months like January our rates...

Two years ago this place was fun. Great atmosphere in the bar, friendly service and a great experience. This trip was completely opposite. The Corner King suggests a more comfortable space but its design is cramped & lacking. Two suitcases for travelling means there's almost no space, even before shopping. The alcove desk is impractical and only served as a...

We only stayed one night which was a 1am check in. Staff were super accomodating to our needs. Room service menu a hit for a pair of very weary and hungry travellers. The room was very well kept. Clean and tidy. The bathroom was very good, decent shower head and bath. Bed was really comfortable and really good plush pillows....

I was in town to have ankle surgery and went straight from the hospital to the Standard. The hospitality blew me away. Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York's most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure-very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There's a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, Michelin-starred chef John Fraser's widely acclaimed Narcissa, and the bustling, street-side Café Standard, which hums from morning until late night. ... more   less
