Family holiday, I stayed in a single room and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was plenty of room for me although if you travel with lots of luggage it could be cramped. Shared bathroom was clean and towels and shower scuffs were great. Just across the road from the river if you like walking or jogging. Restaurant in the hotel was... More

but you have to be okay with sleeping in a sailor's closet. i am sure there are mid-sized rooms. mine had a bunk, hooks, a small flat screen t.v. in the corner where i could catch some of the US Open, a wall mirror, beautiful wood paneling and hand rolled wallpaper, vintage light fixtures and one small window just big... Good price for NY but you get what you pay for. Super small room albeit fun, so fine for a jetlaggy one nighter but would not recommend you book for any longer. Great location for checking out the area and fun staff. Popular night spot so only book if you plan on getting stuck in. You will hear it weather... More

I stayed in the Jane for four nights in June. The communication with Ajay and Chris throughout the booking process was great, they answered any emails that I sent extremely quickly. I requested as higher room as possible which I got on the sixth floor. The room itself is indeed small, but not for a single traveler as I was.... More

Best thing about The Jane is its location: just under 10 minutes walk from Chelsea Market and bit over 10 minutes to the 14th St ACE subway lines. The rooms are indeed very small (40-50 sq feet--the size of my bathroom at home) but not cramped or claustrophobic. I requested and received a quiet room that had a single twin... More

The showers, sheets and service at this hotel are reason enough to stay here. NY hotels, for the most part, lack quality in all three areas. But not The Jane. They must have spent a fortune to bring in the very best of these items. It's a Wow Experience to say the least. The hotel is quiet, a bit of... More

Thanks for writing. We're happy you enjoyed yourself and our staff sends their best! I apologize if you were unhappy with service at the cafe. I can assure you that the General Manager takes this quite seriously and would be happy to have a dialogue if a guest is less than satisfied. Thanks again for writing! More

I recently stayed here for a couple of nights on the tail end of a business trip. The staff were lovely and really helpful. The room was a good size (though I'm rather small), and there was more than enough room. Right in the heart of the Village area of Manhattan, and so many great places to shop and eat.... More

We stayed at The Jane this last October and it was awesome! It is not for everyone, I imagine, but if you ever traveled in Europe in your youth and embraced the youth hostel environment, this will bring back great memories. While there are nice captains room that offer their own private bathrooms, I prefer the bunkbed rooms. Are they... More

We stayed for six nights in a captains cabin. We had an unobstructed view of the Hudson River and sunsets were magnificent. The highlights....the best pillows of any place we have stayed. Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
