Firstly, I have to say that the location of this hotel is very good. Walking distance from Central Park and very close to both 51st & 59th Street subway stations...those two stations get you to so many different parts of the City. Unfortunately, that was pretty much the only positive with this hotel, which actually has all the standards that... More

We stayed here for 4 nights, the hotel was in a good location, quiet, clean, staff were incredibly helpful and it was overall a really nice stay. It was perfect walking distance from the empire state building, top of the rock and times square was a manageable walk too! The rooftop terrace was really relaxing in the evenings and the... More

Hotel Carvi on East 55th St is a great place to stay for a few days while visiting NYC. Situated within walking distance of many of the Midtown sights including Grand Central, Times Square, Rockafella centre, Central Park and the shops of 5th Avenue. Staff on reception very friendly and eager to advise. No breakfast in hotel though Midtown Diner... More

The location is excellent as it is a short walk to the nearest subway station and plenty of shops and restaurants etc on 3rd Av. The roof top terrace is a nice touch, as the hotel does not have a bar we were able to bring our own drinks and sit outside, although a bit cold in November! The bed... More

This hotel worked out well for me. I requested a quiet room and was pleasantly surprised! 702 was very quiet...but no one was using the roof top patio given the time of year. The room was a good size for NYC. Lighting wasn't great but otherwise the room is fine, beds were comfortable etc. The roof top patio looks very... More

The rooms are small, the staff indifferent, the services and amenities minimal and the HVAC system incredibly noisy. This is not my knid of place. You can do much better for the price - even in mid-town Manhattan!

I would whole heartedly recommend the Carvi. We travelled as a family of 3, 2 adults and a teenager. The hotel is clean and modern. We had a good size room with 2 double beds. The room had a clean and well lit bathroom. We had bath robes provided and plenty of towels. There is also a mini fridge with... More

I stayed only one night for a business trip. I wanted a place that was a short walk to my client's office in midtown Manhattan, and the Carvi hotel was very convenient. The front desk staff was pleasant and professional, the room (one king bed) was a comfortable size -- neither cramped nor spacious, with a good-sized bathroom and ample... More

A whirlwind weekend girls' trip found us at the Carvi hotel. I am a huge fan of boutique hotel chains and wanted to give this one a try. It was inconspicuous and not far from the E train or Central Park. It was pretty quiet considering it is NYC, and we didn't hear our next door or floor-above neighbors. The... More

Dear Audrey, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We are so glad that you found your way to our small Carvi Hotel for your special weekend. It is nice to have a quite haven in what can be a noisy city, but somehow even when we are to full capacity, we still manage to have... More

We arrived and requested an upper floor with lots of light. We were told that the room we had did not have any windows. I thought that was illegal as it is a fire safety issue, but was told that they can put us in a windowless room. They offered us a room with a window for an additional $60.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

“My room did not have a view and looked out at the very close next door building. I didn't mind this as I was only there at night and I liked being off the street (for the noise!) but this might not be to everyone's liking (also makes it dark in the room) so you might want to ask about your room location. ”
