I checked in to The Public Hotel August 26th, and immediately Dante was so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. And this was Dante's MO for the entire stay when more friends checked in over the next few days. Before I even arrived I called to confirm my reservation and got Angelo on the phone, again warm, welcoming and extremely helpful, I asked to meet him upon arrival as he was so lovely over the phone, and extremely helpful during our stay at the hotel. yeah Mon. Second day in I met Artyom, who made my birthday, and everyday during our stay extra special (Thank you for the beautiful flowers and I love your Art work) with reservation in the Popular Restaurant (The food was outstanding), and dancing on the rooftop where Steve (cowboy hat) rolled out the red carpet for my friends and I. And oh yes the chocolate chip banana bread in the cafe is amazing and a must have. Thank You Public Hotel it was fabulous …

I stayed here two nights ago and it was a beautiful and clean hotel. I loved how luxurious it looked. Check in was quick and easy and service was friendly. However, food at Popular is terrible. And also, although the majority of the hotel was cleaned, my girlfriend noticed a blood stain on one of the sheets. @Public, just please make sure to look for stains and throw out the sheets if they do not come out in the wash. Price also is way too expensive and should be lowered. Other than that, I loved it here and would come back for sure!

One of the best designed rooms I've been in, really practical with the sink outside the bathroom. Hard wood floors. Appreciated the climate control, the darkening shades, and the strong, hot water. Appreciate the refillable water bottle and ice machine on my floor. Easy check in and check out. Kudos to the bartender who gave me hot water, lemon and salt gratis one night. I would stay there again.

I’ve stayed here 3 times this year for work. In my most recent trip there were charges to my room I couldn’t see at checkout because their system was down. It’s been months of contacting finance and their manager with no response. When I call the front desk they acknowledge that finance doesn’t return even their calls. Also they send you to the finance phone line and the mailbox is full. This place is a scam. I’ll never stay here again.

The hotel double charged me for our stay. We pre-paid for our hotel stay, yet after checking out they charged us again for the full stay without authorisation - the payment was taken off my credit card and no invoice or confirmation email was sent alongside it. I contacted them immediately to let them know and request the refund, and I still have not received it 20 days later. Appalling customer service, and completely lost my trust around financial transactions with them - they simply do not prioritise investigating and rectifying their financial mistakes.

Dearest P2267ULmarionc, we deeply apologize for the unpleasant experience you had with the incorrect billing and delay in receiving your refund. We had a systems migration and it was certainly a training hiccup. The third party credit card declined for the room and tax and your credit card was charged incorrectly. This was refunded by our finance team. Unfortunately, due to a systems migration, we had some challenges, but nothing we cannot overcome. We are continuously training. We have new team members that joined who are vomited to lifting our services. You are certainly a priority and hope that we can make it all better for you. My husband and I went to the Popular restaurant with another couple and the food and the ambiance were amazing. Murad's made the best food recommendations, we followed his advice and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Luis also took care of us and he was super nice. Chloe, the hostess was super friendly as well and made us feel welcome. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My21 y/o daughter and I just returned from a long weekend celebration in NYC. We were lucky enough to get to stay at the Public Hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. Great accommodations were made when a reservation concern occurred: beautiful rooms, sophisticated atmosphere, excellent location, super kind professional staff! We will tell everyone and will look forward to our return trip! Thank you, Public Hotel staff, for making these midwesterners feel like we belong in your incredible city!

Very nice hotel with beautiful architecture and large common spaces. The food at the Popular restaurant is excellent. The rooms are a bit small but not bad for New York. Checking in and out was very smooth. On the negative side, the housekeeping was not up to the standard you would expect from such a hotel ( they forgot to clean the room and could not do it late because housekeeping was gone ), the music in the common spaces was too loud ( you would think you are in a full fledge disco during the middle of the day. Headache guaranteed!) and last but not least, some of the employees need a bit of attitude adjustment to get rid of their smug attitude ( the majority were nice and helpful ). Overall, a very nice experience which I would repeat hoping for some minor changes!

Cool place, but be advised that the rooms are small. Wifi really needs to be upgraded. I was not able to screen mirror on the TV on the room due to a weak signal. The hotel engineer couldn’t fix it either. He just threw up his hands. Also no usable wifi in the gym. Public areas are nice. No human at check-in. Sorry for being old school, but I missed that.
