Good hotel in a quiet location. Had a high floor so didn’t hear much traffic noise. The room was also warm but not stuffy. The windows can also be opened.
Room was nice and clean apart from stained and dirty towels (with previous guests hair on it).
House keeping was a bit hit and miss and had to ask for our room to be cleaned on one day and another day they didn’t bother showing up.
Breakfast was ok, but then again it was free. The waffle machines are easy to use and it was nice to have them fresh. The breakfast area is very cold, many people had coats on. The toaster is unbelievably slow and takes around 5-10mins to slighlty brown your bread and changing the settings didn’t make a difference.
I feel like the breakfast staff need to wear a uniform as you couldn’t tell who was a guest or who worked there.
Front desk staff were lovely and helpful.
The lobby area has a water machine with sweets. One of the days they had fresh warm chocolate chip cookies which was nice.
The lifts didn’t take too long, which i have noticed that they were in other reviews.
One thing that did concern me is that a woman walked off the street and started to use the computers in the lobby area and then was very aggressive on the phone and was swearing, only then did security ask her to leave, i feel this should be monitored more closely, or for guest areas to only have access with room card key.
Would return, just a few things lacking with attention to detail.

Great accommodations and well equipped. The WiFi is good and free. It offers a complimentary breakfast. Today I will check the fitness room and I will make an evaluation.
As promised, I will continue my evaluation.
So, the fitness room works great and for its main purpose, it deserves an excellent grade. All the aerobics electronics are running 0k, with all functions working.
A great issue is regarding the breakfast area. First, the HVAC isn't working at all. The place looks like a fridge. No one is hardly bare to stay there for more than 20 minutes unless wearing full winter clothes. The most common movement is seeing people preparing their breakfast meal to eat in their rooms.

The other observation I have waited to post a complaint is regarding the housekeeping service. For the third time in a row, something was lacking from reposition.
The first day was the bath soap; the second day, the bathroom mat and, on the last day was the shampoo.
Despite all these critics, this continues to be a good option but I will consider watching other offers and options.

Dear jgdiniz, Thank you for sharing your review of Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Downtown Manhattan/World Trade Center Area. We are happy your room provided the comforts and amenities you expected as well as enjoyed upscale accommodations. It was also great to know you liked our internet services as well as our fitness center. However, we are sorry for the issue you encountered with the air conditioning unit at breakfast. We will make sure our engineering staff corrects the HVAC problem. Moreover, we have also shared your comments with our housekeeping team to make sure they are more diligent going forward. We hope this did not overshadow your otherwise positive stay with us and that you will choose us again in the future. Louis Gonzalez, General Manager

My friend and I stayed here for a week in a twin room with 2 double beds.
The hotel was in a great location, our nearest subway stop, Rector Street, was just outside the hotel. Other subway stops were in walking distance at Wall and Fulton street. We have stayed in this area many times so knew our way around.
Our room was spacious with a nice sized bathroom and plenty of towels to share. It had a tv with plenty of channels, tea/coffee making facilities, a safe and fridge. The air conditioning was amazing and often blew too cold so we had to turn it off. We didn't have it on at night as the units can be noisy but it wasn't too hot and we turned it on first thing in the morning.
The cons of the room were the SERIOUS lack of storage. There was one draw to share in the bedside cabinet and whilst there was a wardrobe, there was only 5 hangers to share. The shower could have been a bit more powerful. Lighting is NEVER good in New York hotel rooms. This one really could have done with a ceiling light.
The room was cleaned every few days to a high standard. However, I had two large bites, one on my arm and one on my leg, I am convinced these were from the bed even though it appeared clean. I never found the front desk staff overly friendly and on our first morning we had woken up early due to jetlag. I called the front desk to request some cups for hot drinks as we only had cold water cups, the cups were never delivered!
Our room included a continental breakfast which was served in the 'restaurant' downstairs. There were only a few cereals to choose from but an assortment of bagels with cream cheese. Some pre-packed pastries and cereal bars, yoghurts and juice but they weren't in proper drinking cartons. It was pretty basic but ok for our first morning. Over the weekend, workmen appeared and were obviously re-decorating the 'restaurant' so breakfast was moved to the lounge at the front of the hotel. There were more pre-packed cereal options available but far less hot food options available.
I am unsure whether we were warned about the works prior to booking but it was quite disruptive coming in and out of the hotel lobby.

The Double rooms which are supposed to accommodate 4 adults are far too small - we had no place to leave our luggage. We received none of the benefits of being a Gold Elite Bonvoy member (i.e. no upgrades etc.).
There was no room service *at all* during our 4 night stay (for the last night they had dumped some linen in plastic bags in our already full room - we decided to place them outside the room being too tired to make the beds ourselves and needing space to move).
We had not been informed that the hotel lobby was basically a construction site so we had to "brownbag" our breakfast and find a place to eat outside (hoping for roomservice to come while we were out.
Also: the hotel only has 2 elevators which kept being serviced during our stay (not really an option to walk up to the 19th floor).
Staff at reception were friendly but truly incapable and/or unwilling to help.
Definitely cannot recommend this hotel unless they make a few changes on multiple levels (service, organisation, booking, architecture).

This is a great hotel in a great location. Front desk staff were always friendly and helpful, and the room was spotless upon arrival. There are lots of dining options close by. The hotel is closer to Brooklyn than most Manhattan hotels if you need to get there. Overall, an awesome stay!

This was a “girls” trip and we had a great time. We were very pleased to be able to check in early at 12:30pm as our room was ready. The front desk staff greeted us warmly every time we went out or came back to the hotel. If you want your room to be cleaned, you need to request it. We didn’t want cleaning but we did get new towels. The room was small but that is normal for NYC.

Breakfast left a lot to be desired. We ended up with coffee, juice and oatmeal. The breakfast sandwiches were self serve and needed to be heated in the microwave. There was quite a line for the microwave. Thankfully there is very nice shop on the corner that serves breakfast. lunch and dinner. Lots of great pastries, sandwiches, salads and entrees that are easy to take-out.

We loved staying in the financial district! The 9/11 Memorial & Museum was just 2 blocks north. During the day, the area is full of business people and it is so quiet at night. We loved this about the location. It’s just a short subway ride to Midtown, Times Square, and Central Park when you want to be part of the action. The Rector Street subway station is literally right outside the hotel’s door. We took it everywhere. We felt very safe in this area. I would definitely stay here again!

Stayed here for four nights after our road trip of the NY State.

On first arrival we were met with a construction site and mess, the reception area was chaos, something we had not been pre warned about. It does appear that the hotel is renovating its reception area to enable a better breakfast experience. The area was more organised with no construction work progressing after our arrival or during our stay.

We were appointed a room on the 23rd floor, which was typical NY and what I would call "compact". We had a king room at the back of the hotel that was quiet and very comfortable. The room was spotless and although a small bathroom it was very good and had a great shower. It looked like the room had been overhauled recently and was in good condition with no wear and tear.

Our room was serviced when requested with clean sheets and towels supplied and fitted.

Breakfast was a grab and go affair, due to the issues of the reception renovation. This should change once the renovation works are complete, I would hope.

The breakfast was adequate and provided a good start to the day and had an average choice. There was no cooked food and it was just cereal, breads, muffins and yoghurts plus fruit and juice.

The staff, we found, were helpful and courteous and could not do enough. This was reception, housekeeping and the breakfast staff.

Big point for the hotel is its location, which is great for the FID district and all the areas of lower Manhattan. There are plenty of places to catch food and drink when required.

As through out our hotel stays over the past 14 days, our Marriott Bonvoy membership has not been acknowledged on any occasion, which is extremely poor and not a usual note when staying in Europe or the Middle East. As Marriott is a US brand, I would have expected better acknowledgement.

We would stay here again

We arrived by train Saturday around lunch-time to NYC. When we arrived at the hotel around 1:00 pm, we knew we may be too early to check-in. The friendly clerk said that they have one room available, but that it was on the 8th floor in the back, with not much view (I normally request a high floor with a view). He confirmed that it had a walk-in shower (I dislike bathtubs), so we went ahead and checked in so that we didn't have to wait for another room. The room was very nice, with a small fridge for our drinks, a small closet to hang up shirts, night-stand on either side of the king bed--which was very comfortable--and a clean and modern bathroom with a walk-in shower with pretty decent water pressure. Our view in the back was another hotel, and some office buildings and rooftops.
When we checked in, I asked about any perks for being Marriott Gold status, and he offered a 2 pm check out on Monday afternoon, which was very helpful on our travel day home.
There are only 2 elevators for this high-rise hotel, so we occasionally waited a few minutes for an elevator--which required a room-key to operate. Being on the 8th floor made this not as bad, especially if we had to walk down the stairs, which we never had to, but thought about it a few times. We didn't use the small restaurant in the lobby, nor the fitness center so we can't comment on that.
All employees we encountered were friendly and helpful, although we noticed that sometimes there was only one employee on-duty, which caused a queue in the lobby.
The hotel's location is VERY convenient, as there are subway entrances right outside the front door of the hotel (the 1 train), and an easy walk to most of the lower-Manhattan attractions.
If the price is right, I recommend this hotel. In fact, I'm already booked for Labor Day weekend because I found a great rate!

This location is walking distance, literally 2 blocks from several landmarks that tourists want to visit, i.e. Battery Park (for ferry to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island), World Trade Center, and Wall Street. Also, 2 subway stations very near. Staff extremely helpful. Rooms small due to high-rise building, but so clean and neat with al amenities needed. Will recommend and definitely stay again.

This was a great place to stay when visiting New York. The subway stops are right outside the hotel, there are restaurants close by within walking distance, and a few convenience stores as well. The beds are super comfortable and our room was very clean. Having breakfast service included with our stay was handy, and we were treated to a few hot items such as quiches and scones.
Our room had the standard amenities: coffee maker, a safe, hair dryer, etc. It was nicely appointed. Our front desk person, Crisledy, was a treasure. So helpful with maps and directions. The only real negative was the elevators were terribly slow and there was no dresser in the room to put any clothes away - and we were only able to get one suitcase stand. Overall it was a really good hotel and of course close to the WTC and the Staten Island ferry.
